My first attempts at powder coating bullets with Harbor Freight white.
I attempt to powder coat bullets for the second time ever using Harbor Freight white powder coat.

I have found that the cheaper powder will lead your barrel. I have never had any leading with Eastwood powder. After 1000 rounds the barrel looks spotless. The Eastwood powder is well worth the extra money since you can coat several thousand bullets with one pound. I always size after coating.
If you look for it you can get sherwin williams powder coat for about half of eastwood and it is the same time of coating.
I liked your video and think I might give it a try, I have been casting for 30+ years now. The observation I made is your uncoated bullet seems wrinkley to me. I always cast HOT! I think it fills the mold better and makes the base and lube bands crisper. I like them frosty. That may help the powder coating stick in a more😮 uniform manner. Great video.
Those turned out great 👍 Definitely looks like one coat will do it. I need to get some harbour freight powder myself but I'm hardly ever far enough in town to justify a trip. After seeing Bubba Round trees bright green buckshot, I've wanted to try that color for everything. Fortune Cookies Halloween themed swirled/ mixed 357s were cool too. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
Good work I really enjoy the videos keep it up

I'm going to try to do one next week.
I'm starting powder coating with Harbor Freight powder as well and heard things on the black but nothing confirmed. When researching the ingredients I found nothing different between black or white powder.
Ford Light blue from Eastwood. It's like 12-13 bucks a pound but well worth it. They will come out better than the hi tek bullet. White is a hard one even with better powders. I'm chasing that animal because I want RED White and Blue bullets!
Why paint cast bullets? What about the added thickness of the powder coating to the bullet diameter? I would be hesitant to send one down a gun that I care about, then again, I dont shoot cast bullets.

Powder coating is impact resistant and can be safely resized in a bullet resizer without lube. If properly done can severely reduce or completely stop barrel leading. Bullet lube is dealer's choice after that.
You should size them before you coat them
seems like harbor freight only stocks black and white that's all they ever have at my store too found some red at another store but didn't like the results i got with the HF powder Eastwood powder is way better had excellent results with all colors even the candy colors , first batch i did in light ford blue , smashed one with a hammer flat as a penny didn't peel or chip any coating off , very durable !!

Thanks brother.
It would be interesting to know how many thousands of an inch one coat adds

Don't know about the Harbor Freight coat, but the Eastwood and Sherwin Williams add .001" per coat. Hence; the reason I size all my cast, coated bullets.
It don’t matter how they look it’s how they perform.I’m wondering if there is a way to make the powder adhere to the bullets better before you put them in the oven?
