My first attempt
Музыка
For those of you that know, i just got back into making music this year, after a 20+ year hiatus. The last thing i used was a Commodore Amiga 1200 with Protracker/Noisetracker. So this year i decided i'd learn all sorts of new tools and instruments and purchased all sorts of fun gear. And then @Polyend comes along and releases a Tracker!? I had to have it!
I received the Polyend Tracker 2 days ago. Started just playing around with it and before i knew it, i had a full track. @Polyend , thank you so much! It's soo much fun to play with!
Directly recorded into a Zoom H4N Pro. No post-processing and no further Instruments have been hurt in the making of this video.

It looks inspiring even from someone who hasn't come from a tracker background, but ahh I can't decide whether it's for me or not! Nice music anyway bro, enjoyed it.

Thank you so much! It's definitely something different, but i was surprised at how quickly i picked it up. It is super accessible, even if you have no Tracker background. ♥️
Great song! Also, the keypress on the tracker sounds so satisfying

I know right? I love that sound so much and while loud and clicky, they are not too loud to annoy people around you. Also thank you! ♥️
Trippy and beautiful. I went back to playing a game called Ristar on my genesis as a kid... Nice trip down memory lane. Best song i've heard from the Polyend Tracker. By far. It's quite inspiring.

Thank you kindly! Never actually played Ristar myself, when it came to alternative jump'n'runs on the genesis i was very fond of James Pond II 😄

@@sandroidmusic Codename Robocod and it's very cartoonish sounds ! Another very good game. If you're fond of that era of gaming and want to listen to great compositions made with the Genesis chip(which had some FM synth abilities) some of "Ristar" and "Rocket Knights adventure" tracks are really great and remain interesting considering the restrictions the composers had. Here are some examples : - Ristar : kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5ib0s6NltSeg7A.html - Rocket Knight Adventure : kzread.info/dash/bejne/faKnzrCkaKuvkaw.html

Congrats! I hope you'll love it! The tracker actually makes it very easy to create gliding/sliding sounds like this. There are two step-effects you can use for it: Glide (G) and Slide (F/J). Check out the step effects list for more details: polyend.com/manuals/tracker/#appendix--the-step-effects-list Give them a whirl once you get the tracker. They are super fun! If you still got questions afterwards (which i doubt 😆), come back and ask again!

Man, really nice work. How does it compare to you coming from traditional software trackers? I've only had mine for a few weeks but I've caught the bug and now I'm considering picking up Renoise but on the fence. the simple workflow and not having to stare at computer while making music has really won me over, even with it's limitations (a plus in my opinion).
@sandroidmusic
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! ❤ Dedicated hardware changes everything IMO! Just like you, i appreciate the fact that i'm not computer-bound to just jam. I hardly feel the limitations - especially if i compare it to the trackers of old - that only had 8-bit-sound and only 2 tracks per channel (left/right) 🤣. And i feel, not having the possibility to overload yourself with the myriad of VST's that would be at your disposal on the computer, really helps focusing your creative energy. I've tried Renoise, as i've stated before, i just couldn't get into it for some odd reason. For myself i've decided to stick with Ableton on the PC. But maybe you'll have better luck with Renoise, and the price is a steal to be honest. It's a very capable DAW for people who like the Tracker Workflow.
Do the piano sounds directly come with the tracker ? Also an important question : when you have a sample for example a piano C5 sound, if you play a different note for instance D6 will it be shortened ? or can you EASILY change the pitch without changing the length of the note ? (I want to play live on a midi keyboard and sequence it with the tracker)
@sandroidmusic
2 жыл бұрын
Ooff. it's been a while, but i think the sample was party of the factory defaults. And no, this works like an oldschool sample player. It does not support multi-samples. So when you play a sample higher pitched, it will shorten the length yes. You can circumvent this by loading multiple samples of the same instrument in different octaves. But you will have to change the selected instrument accordingly once you get out of range. But playing with a midi keyboard is absolutely possible.

I can honestly say, looks are deceiving. Polyend did a fantastic job at making it accessible to both people with tracker experience and people without prior experience. During no time, did i feel that i was lost without a manual, since there are on-screen explanations for all the important bits. And if need be, there is a Guide/Manual directly on the device.
