I bought JFRey frames with Zeiss Smart Lenses. I’m glad I did. I’ve been on Safari in South Africa. You need good lenses to capture every detail of this beautiful country. Thank you Robert. You’re a legend.

Hey Anthony, good to hear from you! I was really proud of your glasses, so I'm really glad you're enjoying them - and what better place to enjoy them???

Glad you noticed that ✌️
much more subtle outdoors I'm surprised they didn't reflect as much in the bright sun I bet that blue or green flash would pop. These outdoor photofusion videos are great it really helps get a better idea of what we can expect out of them. Hope to see the colors outdoors soon. Thanks

Yeah, Amber is the most subtle flash coating.
What a lovely walk. I agree with your comment regarding a mirror or flash coating. I am considering a green mirror for my next rimless frames.

Those frames really suit you. I love my new frames with rhe blue Photofusion flash! They look amazing and are great for reducing glare. Next on my list are possibly some square clear Barton Pereira frames with Adaptive Sun lenses, although still trying to work out the exact difference between those and the Photofusion!
@thespectaclefactory
Жыл бұрын
That would be the perfect next step! So Adaptive Sun is always tinted, but goes darker when needed (as opposed to PhotoFusion which is clear when not activated)
Great photography. I've got a few JFRey's from you now and love them all, but not in carbon wood. Really tempted to get a pair. 🤔

Thanks for the video! Any recommendation for frames that are similar in style but wider by any chance?
Have you ever tried frames from RetroSuperFuture? Would love to hear your thoughts !

Yes, although some people don't like the reflections on video calls. I personally don't mind, and my clients don't seem to either. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
New subscriber. Great content, thank you, I’ve learned a lot about glasses. I notice a lot of your videos recommend Zeiss lenses. Are you sponsored by that brand?

I'm a global ambassador for Zeiss but I'm not paid to be. I also rate Hoya and many other lens brands (I wore Hoya in the next video after this I think), and I'm currently testing out Leica. There's no bias on this channel. I just think Zeiss are the best.
Would you please consider reviewing a pair of Matsuda frames. I have not seen anyone mention them on KZread or review them but apparently they are really good and their istricate detail looks top notch. But they are very inaccessible. Ide really love to see a review of those!
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again the only problem with these Photofusion lenses is that in theory they can go super dark (around 87% I think) but the reality is that in almost all normal situations they never do. Maybe in the next gen or two they can fix this flaw.

true esp if you wear a hat. I think 25 percent tint plus a photo fusion would be nice. They def look way different than in the shop with the uv torch.

As much as I love them, I'm always saying that they do not replace sunglasses. If you go in with that expectation, you'll be disappointed. But if you think of them as glasses with a bonus, then you'll love them.
What a nice coincidence - among the tints I was considering for my JF Rey Carbon Wood pair (the JF2863 in gold) was this exact combination (or possibly the AdaptiveSun instead of the Photofusion X version). Really nice to see how it would actually look. You mention versatility of the pair - how do you think the wood on the frame would take to harsh conditions, such as hot (up to 35 degrees) weather, and perhaps getting caught in a sudden downpour?

@@thespectaclefactory I have - for a different pair first. The budget dictates that I can only pursue a one set of lenses at a time.
Is flash coating and mirror coating the same? Or is it just called coating or flash coating. The optician i went to (Malaysia) said flash and coating is different things.
I have a question. Is it possible to have 1.9 high index but in plastic so that a person can opt for rimless eyeglasses? I am talking about a case of someone's prescription being strong and needing 1.9 high index. Thanks

Not in plastic, but you could drill 1.9 glass if rimless was absolutely essential to you.
@KingEutony

@@thespectaclefactory It is possible to drill 1.9 glass Zeiss lenses? Wow. I always thought that was not an option. Is this due to recent changes or has this always been the case?
I tried googling it, but couldn’t get a clear answer- can you apply a flash coating on a pair of glasses used whilst driving at night? I know tint of any sort is a no no. But curious about maybe like a gradient mirror coating on top of Drivesafe w/ Photofusion X

Hello Robert, unique outdoors glasses-in-action video! Speaking of Smartlife lenses, is it possible to get clear Zeiss Smartlife SV lenses with a Silver Duravision Mirror coating… with no tint? Just clear lenses with a mirror coating? Would the mirror effect be prominent and obvious?
@marcusdesilva8405
Жыл бұрын
If it's any help, he's got a video on light tints. I would specifically point out the example of his combination of rose (10%) with flash Jade. The diamond (silver) coating is much more prominent, so that's probably a good baseline for you to compare. There are other colours in 12% tints that really are not obvious at all, if you don't like to look like you obviously have a tint. I'm personally wearing a 25% tint (without a flash tint) and even that is only barely noticeable (I have a dark complexion).

Not normal, but the lenses aren't unscratchable... it's possible to damage anything on the first day of owning it. What coating do you have? Report it to your optician and i hope they'll help you!

The Zeiss website directed me to an ophthalmologist in my area. My experience was a nightmare. He did not use any Zeiss equipment for the exam, the optician seemed to have no idea how to order Zeiss lenses, and told me that I could not order lenses online. Much to my chagrin, turns out they failed to record my pupillary distance on my prescription. My exam measurements are in .25 increments, so it doesn't seem worth the extra money to pursue my dream Zeiss glasses any further. Consumers need to practice due diligence to avoid my experience.
