One thing I missed from John Lennon after the breakup of The Beatles was his sense of humor. It was like he quit flashing that great smile. When Mind Games came out, that sense of fun began to return. In Nobody Told Me, his sense of humor was on full display. Happy to see that song so highly ranked by you, John Heaton.

Quite right John about Nobody Told Me wonderful song. I also remember the thrill of hearing new John tracks in 1980.

Blow Away was a big hit in the US, it might have only hit 14 on the charts over here. But it was in heavy rotation on most the album oriented radio station here in the states. And almost everyone listened to AOR stations in those days, and not top 40, which was mostly disco than. Thanks for sharing your top 100 Beatles solo tracks, I really enjoyed this series of the videos.

Thanks John. Love listening to your Top ? songs. But it’s the added views & experiences & musical knowledge you give to each song I appreciate. Also, I’ve kept a copy of all of your Top? so that I can go back and check them out myself when I want. These have inspired me to do Playlists of my own & share with my friends. Top Space songs/Top cover songs/Top instrumental songs/Top Male & female songs/Top Rock-Pop-Prog-acoustic songs etc. 🎶🎸😎

I always like your lists, John, because they are well considered and argued but ultimately you go with what you love the most. Must admit I did not see Blow Away coming at number one, so you have prompted me to focus more on that song. I definitely agree with the brilliance of Every Night and Woman. I never knew Robbie Robertson played the solo on Snookeroo so thank you for that.

A great list. With regards to Maybe I'm Amazed I feel the live version from Wings Over America is the definitive version and for me it would have been my No. 1 choice. I loved Blow Away when I first heard it as lead single to the album and was amazed it wasn't a big hit. I bought it though and did my bit But so many great songs to choose from 😉

I recall "Blow Away" being played on the radio like crazy in 1979 and it quickly became an irritant. Isn't it a pity that it wound up at #1 on your list (a subtle way for me to share what should have been #1 on your list by George). 😉

I think people are complaining that some are not reasonable selections. There are legendary and iconic recordings to choose from, yet the lightweight pop song, "Blow Away", is #1? It's tough to take the list seriously for some. I keep waiting for a follow-up video saying "Just Kidding!".

Even though I expected it, John, I was still mildly disappointed with your almost exclusive focus on the 1970s to the neglect of the many McCartney songs post-1980: Here are my 50 favourites: Tug of War: ‘Somebody Who Cares’, ‘Wanderlust’. Снова в СССР: ‘Summertime’. Flowers in the Dirt: ‘This One’ and ‘That Day is Done’ Flaming Pie: ‘Somedays’, ‘Young Boy’, ‘Calico Skies’, ‘Heaven on a Sunday’, ‘Souvenir’’, ‘Little Willow’, and ‘Beautiful Night’. Rushes: ‘fluid’. Run Devil Run: ‘No Other Baby’ and ‘Lonesome Town’, Working Classical: ‘A Leaf’, ‘Haymakers’ and ‘Midwife’. A Garland for Linda: ‘Nova’. Driving Rain: ‘Lonely Road’, ‘From a Lover to a Friend’, ‘Driving Rain’, ‘I Do’, ‘Tiny Bubble’, ‘Magic’, ‘About You’, ‘Heather’, ‘Back in the Sunshine Again’, ‘Your Loving Flame’, ‘Rinse The Raindrops’, ‘Freedom’. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard: ‘Follow Me’, ‘Jenny Wren’, ‘How Kind of You’, ‘Riding to Vanity Fair’, ‘Too Much Rain’. Ecce Cor Meum: Interlude. Memory Almost Full: ‘Only Mamma Knows’, ‘Dance Tonight’ and ‘House of Wax’. Electric Arguments: ‘Sing the Changes’. New: ‘Alligator’, Queeney Eye’, ‘Get Me Out of Here’, ‘Looking at Her’ and ‘Scared’. McCartney III: ‘Women and Wives’, ‘Deep Deep Feeling’, ‘The Kiss of Venus’, ‘Seize the Day’, and ‘Winter Bird/When Winter Comes’.
