Took me a while but finally started fishing the unweighted wedge heads, D&Ds and the like. Heavy sink tip and a shorter leader and had some good results on our local rivers

Hi Ben, great video! Just one question because I only tie pike or perch flies here but am going to fish in Iceland (where my brother lives) and there they seem to use a lot of wooly buggers and streamers like the zonker strip one with the same cone heads. Are these tungsten cones or what should I be looking for (apart from buying locally based on local knowledge)? I would like to prepare some of both types of streamers for next year. Thank you for your reaction!

i used to be an even numbers guy but for some things the odds are just money. my favorite rod for bass, carp, and streamer fishing trout is a fiberglass 7 weight with a fast glass action and a wulff ambush line. i run it straight floating a lot, but i also carry around a 50 grain sonar sinking leader (its a poly leader, just scientific anglers) and for swinging and stripping streamers its fantastic. its also bright red so i look like a sith lord (read: giant dweeb) using it so i like that too.

Hey I went and found Kelly gallops channel to see if I also thought with no relevance at all whether or not he could indeed ‘kick your ass’ as you and others have mentioned. Whilst Kelly does seem quite feisty and I suspect when he’s fuming he’d definitely use some choice language and angry histrionic’s . Never the less I think you’d be in with a chance with good head movement, and perhaps utilise a Philly shell to good affect and you could win on points.

Yes, I know… fly fishing in Ohio sucks compared to everywhere else. 😢 BUT 💯 percent on the white cone head Zuddler…. That thing KILLS with the smalleys here in the Buckeye state. And another 💯 FULL SEND on the Rusty Trombone (or the “trusty Rusty” cuz, well… kids are watching😂). That streamer was outSTANDING for big browns on the S Holston in TN. Two fantastic picks.
