    I still haven't found anything that allows the regular diamonds to still sparkle. It shines, but you no longer see the individual facets give off their full sparkle. I do, however, like this liqutex for the rhinestones. It does not dull them at all. I would use this on my notebooks and rhinestone partials (or even a full crystal). Thank you so much for sharing!!

    I totally agree with you Susan. Any sealer I've used or seen demonstrated does not let the shine of the original diamond come through...we are merely seeing the shine of the gloss that was applied.

    I agree, that no matter what you put on regular drills, there is going to a change in the sparkle (even if you put water on them there would be a change), but I do think it looks better than anything else I have tried. The Liquitex on the other hand is fantastic for special drills - as you noticed. I very rarely seal a DP that is important to me - I will frame it under acrylic ( as glass is so heavy). I have DPS that have been framed for over two years that have not changed in any way, so that is my preferred method for my more expensive and favorite ones.

    It would be impossible to put anything on them that won't change their appearance in some way. I prefer framing my favorite and more expensive DPs and having an acrylic piece covering it to protect it from dirt, air and people touching it. For notebooks and other pieces that are going to be handled, I find that the Liquitex holds the drills nicely and also leaves a more clear shine. Everyone has to decide what is best for themselves.

    Thank you so much for your lovely comments Phyllis!! I normally frame my favorite canvases, as this keeps the air and dirt from getting to them. I have several that have been framed for over 1 and 2 years and they are doing great. I will seal smaller ones if I don't put them in my portfolio and I always seal notebooks, key chains and other items like that. Sealing is another option when trying to save money on framing too 😊

    Thank you Grace for showing the "peeling skin look" on the dp. That's a great description for what has happened. That's what happened to the keychain I used Mod Podge on. Please continue to share "the results and time line" on the sealant effects. It will answer many questions about the products. Another KZreadr stated she uses baby wipes to "clean the drills" before applying her selected sealant. After she applies the sealant she again wipes the top of the drills to "remove the excess so it doesn't take the natural shine away." You did show the "dabbing of excess." Will you try the "cleaning process" with liquidtex and advise if there is a difference with the extra steps. Thanks! 🤗🙏💜

    Thank you for the video! I just ordered varnish. I was very disappointed in Aqua glue (flakes off over time), I do like resin but it's too messy to work on & too long to dry. So, I hope varnish will be my rescue. Especially for the notebooks.

    Hi Nat!!! I felt sick when I saw how the Aqua Glue did on that little DP - it was a practice piece, but still, so disappointing. This Liquitex is great - in some ways it almost reminds me of resin, but so easy. It is self-leveling and non-yellowing. Those drills on that notebook have been on there for months, and every so often I pick it up and bend it and turn the pages and scratch my nails over it, just to test it out. I really can't wait to hear what you think about it!!

  • @gbmaltese

    @gbmaltese

    I love the first one too, but since it is UV resin, it has to be cured under a UV lamp - a DP won't fit under the lamp. That is the reason I find the 3rd one to be better for a DP. Hello Grace💖🤗, I've never seen the product before. I've used minwax with fine glitter added. It's the gloss, no yellow. I'm curious if you put the extra fine glitter in the Liquudtext you would still have the glitter effect on regular drills. It looked like on your video everything has that wonderful shine but not the glitter aspect of the drills. It could be I'm using my phone to watch and the drills just don't show the glitter. Love how it doesn't crack at all. Loved the acrylic look for coasters or when you want to use paintings for other used than pictures. Great video. Definitely won't be using the Tom Bow. I have some but had put off using it. What a disappointment it must have been to notice what happened. You take care and I hope your week is going great! Hi Lin!! I didn't buy the Minwax, as it warned that the fumes are dangerous - the Liquitex has no harmful fumes - no smell at all, so i can use it in the house. I will have to try adding some very fine glitter and see what happens. As with pretty much anything that you put on these drills, it will lose a bit of shine, but this one loses less than others that I have tried. I also like that it is flexible and doesn't crack. Using the resin was fun to experiment with, and I thought it might be nice to use as place mats or coasters, not to hang on the wall. It definitely changes the whole look of your DP, but it was interesting to do. I was sick when I saw how the Tom Bow looked after a few months - it was horrible. I'm just glad it was a practice piece. I have been trying out all types of sealers and found this Liquitex to be my favorite. I normally will frame my favorite DPs, but this is great for smaller ones, notebooks, key chains, partials and things like that. You should see how many different types of sealers I own - lol!! I don't use any of them but the Liquitex now. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. God Bless you my friend. Stay well and safe. 💐➕💐🌺🐶🐶🐶🐦🥰💖🌻

    Oh Grace thank you so much for this video. I have been lost as to what to seal a painting with. It has popping drills crazy and not liked enough to frame. Its a 50 x 50 so frames are expensive and hard to come by that size in New Zealand. Now I will buy a hanging frame from China, seal it, then donate it to somewhere like my doctors rooms. They will be able to dust it as needed 🤗

    Have a question Grace. I recently purchased the liquitex gloss sealer to use on one of the collapsible boxes with a butterfly to diamond paint. Now I'm doubting myself about putting it on to seal. It seems to be a material in the background. Have you ever sealed something like this? Thanks for your opinion.

    I have not used any type of sealer on items that are cloth material. I did a pillow and didn't put a sealer on it, as I was afraid it would soak into the fabric and make it stiff. If it's not something that you are going to be handling a lot, you might not want to chance it. Sorry I can't be more help!

    I have to agree that I don't think there is anything that will leave the original shine. Only thing that would work is to put something super sticky to the bottom of the drills!! Not sure how long the stickiness on the canvas will hold the drills, but I hope it's a long time 😊 Take care!!

    This is very helpful! I was wondering, can you estimate how far one bottle of the liquitex goes? I know diamond paintings are all different sizes, but it's hard to have an instinct about how far 8 ounces would go. Like did you use a significant part of the bottle doing these?

  • @gbmaltese

    @gbmaltese

    4 жыл бұрын

    I would say that I have used about 1/4 of a bottle or less on these in the video and on a couple of notebooks that I did. I have no idea how many diamond paintings you could get done with one bottle - a lot depends on the size of the DPs and how much you use at a time. Some people might use more or less than I do.

    For my favorite paintings, I don't use any sealer, as I don't care what you use, there is going to be some change to the shine. Even if you just put plain water on the drills, the shine will not be as great. I frame the DPs that are most important to me and the glass or plastic piece keeps the drills secure (I have some DPs that have been framed for over 2 1/2 years that haven't lost one drill) I have videos on framing my DPs if you really want to keep the shine. Take care.
