My Favorite Ricoh GRiii and GRiiiX Camera Accessories of 2023

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I love my Ricoh GR3 and here are some of my recommendations on accessories that I use daily with my camera. GR3X is a bit different than the GR3 due to different lens construction, so make sure you check before buying the filter adapter as they are different.

    0:45 I have the annoying dial issue too. At first, I'm really afraid to spray contact cleaner on the rotary dial gap. Turnout you only need just a tiny amount of contact cleaner spray to fix the problem. Just one short spray, turn the dial around both ways, put the battery back inside, and it is good as new.

    The dust problem is more or less eliminated by keeping the NISI adapter and a screw on filter mounted all the time. Sure, it makes the GR a little bulkier but that's a minimal trade-off :)

    Yeah agreed, 90% of the time I have nisi off to keep it compact. But the camera always sits inside a bag to prevent dust entering

    Thanks buddy! Yeah mine was a Hoya and I recommend getting the weakest filter since the effect is baked in. You can go super cheap route (old school ) just use a cut up panty hose. It's similar

    I agree. Bought the beautiful Ricoh cases GC-12 for my GR III and GC-11 that come with GR IIIx Urban Edition. Most of the dust is because of storing the camera in jeans's pocket and or don't clean the sling. Wouldn't use adapter and filter because camera is no more pocketable

  • @Filippo-Parisi

    I would be scared to attach an UV filter in the front, more if cheap. Also I think that GAx adapters with UV filter (B+W either) would be good but losing the pockeability... noway.

  • @ToasterVentura

    Yes the stick on uv is an option but you have to be super committed. The twist on filter will allow you to use other filters too. It's a good option for creative shots without sacrificing portability

  • @ToasterVentura

    @ToasterVentura

    Yeah I know what you mean. I think safest choice is use the filter adapter if you don’t want to risk it. If you want to take off the adhesive you will need to use floss or fishing wire to slide between the filter and the lens. Ripping it off will damage the camera

    I would think it would enter via the barrel as it closes. I use a JJC thumb rest and a leather wrist strap and keep it in a lowpro waterproof case (GRIIIX).

    Hi, I just ordered a GR IIIx and was hesitating on the better way to protect the lens and sensor from dust. I hesitated between the small JJC UV lens with the JJC metal lens cap against the GA-2 lens adapter with the 49mm UV filter. I went for the second option because it seems to me to protect better, even if it makes the camera a bit less pocketable. But it seems to me by your video, you are using both UV filters. Is it correct and doesn’t it influence the photos? Which solution would you advise better? Thanks a lot and congrats for the video!

  • @ToasterVentura

    @ToasterVentura

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes I am using both the stick on uv and JJc. I like the stick on because it gives camera some protection without the bulk. The stick on will work with JJc BUT... You will need like a step down or step up ring to a bigger filter size in order to give the lens slightly extra room when going into macro mode. When the gr is in macro mode, the lens sticks out more and when using both the stick on uv and filter adapter it will error out in macro mode.

    Is the problem in macro mode related to the jjc filter or is the nisi filter just too short?

  • @ToasterVentura

    @ToasterVentura

    3 ай бұрын

    Problem is when you combine the two. The NISI is not built with the extra length of the JJC nd filter in mind. So in macro mode the jjc filter will hit the nisi filter. I got it to work by using a step down ring on the nisi with a bigger filter to make up for that extra length

    5:06, the only accessory I need is the ability to keep a small QR plate mounted on the camera at all times with access to the battery door. Instead of the $50 much larger/heavier leather option you show here, I fabricated my own at a fraction of the size/weight and it has remained on my camera now for the past few weeks w/o issue. It's based on the user's needs and at times I need a quick and efficient way to pop my camera onto my small Jobi Gorilla Pod. All other accessories are, in my opinion, not of any utility or value. Thank you for sharing your video. Here's my custom base-stay mod: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jI6Bz5SkYbeslrw.html

    Dust isn’t really a problem. Just keep it in a case or the original Ricoh leather case. Don’t keep in your pants or jacket pocket bare naked. The thumb grip is useless don’t bother buying. Honestly, the camera is fine by itself just buy more batteries & the OEM Ricoh case.
