A few I forgot in the previous video, no particular order. Fleetwood Mac: Self-titled, Rumours( first two with Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, RIP Christine McVie) Eagles: Hotel California ( although I'm tired of it now, but, back in the day, a favorite) Eurythmics: Revenge/Touch Linda Ronstadt: Hasten Down The Wind( and a fabulous catalog) Bob Seger: Night Moves, Stranger In Town Steve Miller: Book Of Dreams Eric Clapton: Slowhand The Bangles: Different Light Jackson Browne: Running On Empty/Hold Out Also, two movie soundtracks: Saturday Night Fever FM( mediocre movie, great soundtrack, lots of big artists)

And thanks to my brother, I also own a copy of the Neutral Milk Hotel album. It’s definitely a horse of a different color but it’s growing on me. Oh and you’re dead on with The Bends and Ritual De Lo Habitual. The best of both worlds from those 2 bands. And I don’t anyone else who’s into both God’s Speed and Wire. You’re tripping me out dude. Now that both of your lists are done I realized a couple of things. Despite how much I love prog, I ended up knowing more of the non prog albums here which a good chunk of them I've also listened to. There are a lot of prog albums that I've heard of in your list but I haven't actually checked them out yet. I guess that's probably because prog was the first ever music genre I got into and desite never being bored of it I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone and listen to more genres; but I really should get back to prog. The other thing I realized is that we have a lot of common favorites. I'll just leave my list (both prog and non prog) and by the way I'm not sticking to one album per artist, there's just some bands like Pink Floyd, Radiohead, GY!BE that I really adore. Honorable Mention: Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született 50. Portishead - Third 49. MF Doom - Madvillainy 48. Boris - Feedbacker 47. David Bowie - Blackstar 46. Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun (also love () and Takk...) 45. Genesis - Selling England By The Pound 44. Pink Floyd - Animals 43. Pink Floyd - The Final Cut 42. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing 41. Jean Michele Jarre - Oxygene 40. Beatles - Abbey Road 39. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds 38. Slint - Spiderland 37. Yes - Close to the Edge 36. Camel - Moonmadness 35. Camel - Snow Goose 34. Camel - Mirage 33. King Crimson - Red 32. King Crimson - In The Wake Of Poseidon 31. 2 8 1 4 - Birth of a New Day 30. Björk - Vespertine 29. Flying Lotus - You're Dead! 28. Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness 27. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly 26. Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2 25. Alan Parsons Project - I Robot 24. Avalanches - Since I Left You 23. Sweet Trip - velocity: design: comfort 22. Sweet Trip - You Will Never Know Why 21. My Bloody Valentine - loveless 20. Pink Floyd - Meddle 19. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother 18. Grouper - A I A: Alien Observer 17. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! 16. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O. 15. Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain 14. Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children 13. Fishmans - 98.12.28 Otokatachi no Wakare (or Long Season but on the live album here it's extended from 35 to 40 minutes, also love Uchu Nippon Setagaya) 12. King Crimson - Court of the Crimson King 11. Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing 10. Klaatu - Hope 9. Radiohead - OK Computer 8. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 7. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# Infinity 6. Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume 1 5. Radiohead - In Rainbows 4. The Caretaker - Everywhere at the End of Time 3. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven 2. Radiohead - Kid A 1. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Mainly the last 4 albums are equally perfect for me. Oh yeah, almost forgot! Amazing choices in all of your lists!

V cool avatar. I find it fascinating that Fripp and John Dietrich are both left-handers playing right-handed. Maybe it helps them in the left/right brain dissociation which you hear in both their playing, in pieces like the brilliant Look Away from Friend Opportunity, or The Night Watch from Starless and Bible Black.

A handful of other non-prog albums from bands I didn't mention on your other video, in no particular order (some inspired by you Scott): Devo - Freedom of Choice Talking Heads - Little Creatures (poppier Heads yes, but man songs like Television Man and Walk It Down rip!) Magazine - Secondhand Daylight The Residents - Duck Stab The Dresden Dolls - (self titled debut) (Piano and drums only band??? Awesome!) The Grateful Dead - Blues For Allah (Used to be Terrapin Station, but like PF's Meddle to Animals, one song a whole album doesn't make) Skid Row - (self titled debut) Regina Spektor - Far (could also be What We Saw From the Cheap Seats) and finally... CHECK THIS UNDER-RATED GEM OUT: Kimock - Satellite City (It's like Pink Floyd with a female lead vocalist, so damn good it needs all the ears it can find!) And on your selections Scott... don't ding the fadeouts, they don't really degrade a song :D ... and as for Van Halen I really think to appreciate them fully you had to be from the time to get the full effect of them. I grew up and Jump and Panama were the big radio songs from them, so my first impression of them was just sort of another hair band, I didn't experience music before they were a thing so even though they were largely responsible for that genre in a sense, I never really ever got that into their music beyond thinking they were just alright, nothing special. Everybody who was around into music before they came around love love love them, so I feel like they are largely a "You had to be there" sort of thing. Maybe I'm just weird though, lol...

You are doing so well! Our taste in music is quite similar but divergent as regards punk. I suppose that's because of where we were brought up and our ages? Most of my punk influences are from the UK, with the exception of The Ramones and Iggy. Scott: Great list! What broad tastes you have! Have you listened to The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus? Considering your love of prog, art-rock, post-punk, and post-rock, I think you'd like them. Their 2015 "comeback" album Beauty Will Save the World was my introduction, and it blew my mind. I've described their sound and aesthetic to friends as what might happen if Current 93 converted to Eastern Orthodoxy or if My Life in the Bush of Ghosts had been recorded in a Byzantine monastery. I recommend any and all of their albums, but especially Beauty Will Save the World and Mirror.

I appreciate a lot of the choices on your list. I'm a big Wire fan and 154 is one of my favorite albums of all time. You Forgot It In People by Broken Social Scene is another one I'm pretty fond of. And though Paranoid is the one I would have picked, I don't know that Tony Iommi ever sounded better than he did on Vol 4. And that Neutral Milk Hotel Album was an acquired taste for me. You can count Jeff Mangum among a line of American eccentrics going back to Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa and Roky Erickson, not to mention David Thomas. Question: have you ever thought of doing a video with Andy Edwards? It would be fun listening to you and he talk about Prog and Jazz-Fusion, given all your collective energy and enthusiasm. This is late 60's into 70's library music at its best.

Have you heared Boston's Walk On ? For me it's their strongest album since the debut. Listen to the title track if nothing else. Some great hammond playing from Tom Scholz. I hear you when you talk about Rainbow Rising. I remember telling a freind that Blackmore couldnt beat Deep Purple but he played Rising in the car and it blew my mind. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath will always be my favourite Sabs album. They expanded their palette on that one thanks to inviting Wakeman as YES where recording in the same studio. Lead to a lifelong friendship with Ozzy and giving Rick's son Adam a job in his touring band. Agree with Queen's SHA, it went downhill after that. Never a fan of VH, remember buying the debut and instantly taking a dislike to Roth's vocal. I think he was the reason why they where really just an American phenomenon. They never had that level of success in overseas territories. Agree on Bowie's Ziggy, he could have made that a double, some great stuff left off plus he never replaced Ronno.

Hi Scot! I want to make a very good recommendation. Do you know the band Os Mutantes? Os Mutantes is a Brazilian band from the 60s and 70s, at the beginning of their career (1968 to 1972) they made songs in the style of Psychedelic Rock and Tropicália (Tropicália is a musical style from Brazil that mixes Rock with some Brazilian rhythms such as Samba, Bossa Nova and MPB) in 1973, after lead singer Rita Lee was expelled from the band, they changed their style to Progressive Rock, and made two incredible albums ! in 1974 the sensational "Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol" was released, and in 1975 they recorded the album "A e o Z" (but it could only be released in 1992 because of low sales). If you want some recommendations, I recommend the albums: "Os Mutantes" (1968) "A Divina Comédia Ou Ando Meio Desligado" (1970) "Mutantes E Seus Cometas No País Do Baurets" (1972) Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol (1974) "A" E O "Z" (1992) I hope you like the recommendations. Thank you very much for your work.

You're not much into the backsbeat are ya. Very little of that white toast music swings and you know what they say, if it ain't got that swing... lol

I’m as white as they come. I don’t want swing, groove or whatever in my music. I want incredible melodies and chord progressions and bizarre time signatures - things that light up the neural network in my brain!!!

@@TheProgCorner it's all good lol. Rhythmic music has all that and jazz gets pretty far out there in chords structure and time signatures. So are you saying you don't like artists like Ry Cooder, the meters, little feat, Allman bros, or the rhythm blues in general? , it's a whole other rabbit hole to go down and life's a trip ya know lol. Just messing with ya no harm intended. My only prerequisite for music is that the musicians have to be either competent or so self depreciating that you can't help but love em. Ya gotta have some rhythm to get those women up on the dance floor loosening their inhibitions.

I agree that Ágætis byrjun is Sigur Rós’ best album, but you have it way too low! 😅 Also, they do sing a lot in their made-up language, but the album title is regular old Icelandic… it means “a pretty good start”. I’ll say it was!
