Ableton. Funny that you said you feel like it's harder for ableton producers to blow up vs fl producers cuz one of the reasons why I chose ableton is cuz it seemed like every producer I looked up to was using ableton especially in the edm/trap world around 2015-2017.

Ive been with Ableton as the first DAW. I like some of their EFX but the EQ is where I disagree. My favorite EQ is the FabFilter and it’s so damn good. It has a dynamic EQ, a better midi frequency layout, it can communicate with every instance and can let you see masking, and it is aesthetically more pleasing.

I'm Ableton gang and use EQ8 as well. To answer your question though... people use different EQs because of sound. There are transparent/surgical EQs as well as EQs that have color/harmonics. I "think" Pro-Q3 is a transparent EQ and the fact they're charging almost $200 for it... I have no idea lol.

fabfilter pro q has the sidechaining option built into it that talks to other fabfilter plugins, it has more lp and hp cut options, and highlights potential problem frequencies you would want to dip out. The stock eq in ableton is dope in comparison with other daws like fl. All eq's have a different sound and transparency. That's pretty much all.

What I figure makes things like fab filter useful are the really streamlined controls, user interface and options of types of EQ that are really easy to get to. stil doesnt justify spending THAT much money on it, but there are advantages clearly, and if you have the money, you can afford to spend on improving your workflow

ABLETON GANG! But I agree. There's a lot of great Ableton content on YoutTube but is nowhere near the sheer volume that FL Studio has. I also find that the FL segment has a more generic and "noobish" vibe. The software seems more appealing and it's easier on first contact. I began in FL and in 5 seconds I made noise. In Ableton it wasn't that intuitive. Mostly thanks to your channel and a few other videos, I unded up investing in Ableton. 10x times easier, organized and flexible in so many aspects. AND doesn't have every little thing hidden behind other menus. Plus, most people have the dream to get placements with the greatest rappers and watch things like Genius deconstructed. Everyone uses FL. If a kid sees that, he's obviously sold. On Mass Appeal's Rhythm Roulette FL is not as prevalent. ROAD TO 200K MY MAN. YOU ARE EXPLODING!

I find the drive on A Bit Warmer to be already pretty sweet, maybe nudge it up if you want it really driven. I prefer to play with the Dry/Wet in order to find how much you want to add of it to a sound. Adding it to instruments it can be 10-20%, and for kicks and bass I'll run it up to 60-70%

What's up bro, I'm on FL Studio and I really fuck with your shit. One thing I say with buying another eq is mostly for dynamics. I bought the waves f6 for dynamic eq to really compress certain frequencies if I wanted to and to listen to certain frequencies solo. Fl doesn't have that feature, and I'm not sure with Abelton.

I started in FL studio and to prove my friend FL is better than ableton, I tried ableton and I was looking for things where ableton is worse, but instead I fell in love with ableton. The workflow is so much smarter, easier and so much more practicall. Now the second answer: I don't mind if the tutorial is in ableton, logic or FL. If you learn your daw and plugins, you are able to recreate almost anything even if the tutorial uses different daw and plugins

I’m trying to decide between using Logic Pro X or Ableton. I’m starting to make music and I’ve only use GarageBand on my iPhone and reaper in a computer of a friend, I want to go with logic because I like the stock sounds but I’m also considering Ableton cause it seems like a pretty good DAW but I don’t know where I could find sounds or plugins that are good and that are free or not that expensive. Can someone help me with this please?

I’d suggest going with Logic. Logic is a great DAW & has tons of sounds built in so it’s prefect for a transition from GarageBand. Ableton is phenomenal but you will definitely need to buy some good vsts

I'm really surprised they're suggesting logic. Feature wise logic is the same as ableton but with wayyy less capabilities and a slower work flow. Its pretty much an inferior ableton. The stock sounds will take you about as far as any daw will. Vsts are a must eventually and in the short term u might be advantaged with logic but eventually u gon realise that ableton is the better daw

  • @SoumaMondal

I also agree with L. Dre. If you enjoyed using garageband you'll be right at home with Logic. As far as free plugins search youtube! search for "best free plugins 2020" you might get some click-baity results but it's a good way to scope out some free plugins.
