Andrew use large coloured clothes pegs on head locks to identify the cows you want to serve......also sensehub collars would make your heat detection detection so easy

Cow manner is a grate tool for getting cows in heet you just checking the app on you phone

How have you tackled the interference from all that steel work around that RFID reader. What brand of reader and boards are you using. We’ve been having loads of bother with some we’re trying to use

RFID readers are a pain! The reader I use comes as a PCB and antenna coil, its a lot smaller than the plastic board. Read range is about 30cm, its easier since the animal stands at the drinker.

I'm curious what you listen to with the headphones during milking? AHDB webinars? UFO podcasts? The Rugby?

I have been asked this a few times, defiantly worth a tiktok! Lots of science and business. How I built this, Wisdom from the top, Lex Friedman, Joe Rogan, Extraordinary Lives. Farming podcasts suck, the one exception is probably Fed by Farmers tbh, only 2 episodes in but its good.

@@FarmTheoryNI cool, I find milking a great place to listen to and learn. AHDB I thought had quite a few good webinars on silage and sowing clover. I must confess I spend far too much time listening to UFO podcasts and Rugby though. I find Lex Friedman maybe a little unentertaining for me over such a long form. Some things to look into if you haven't heard of them already are "Eavor Loop" and "Quaise Energy" both are involved with deep geothermal energy projects, which has a link to Northern Ireland, they are interested in it as it has a high temperature rise with medium depth needed, which could help cement the proof of concept( though Ever Loop is pretty cemented) with less early investment.

Are you payed by volume or solids? Curious if your solids will rise in the next week and compensate for the lost volume?

Honest answer is my dad likes to leave them on the cow for 36 hours and since he feeds them its a battle he gets to win.

Why no auto scrappers. I have alfco hydraulic scrapers. Bullet proof

We are going to have to fight to try and avoid the situation ROI farmers are already in! Also, imo the fact our minister makes the ultimate decision and can't just blame the EU is a huge advantage.

We are f####d in simple terms, but its to be expected. Whats happening to farmers in europe is coming here soon.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but BVD sample testing appeared very soon after we were no longer required to test for brucellosis. Would this be a way to keep those civil servants in labs paid for by farmers 🤔🤫. If BVD sample testing stops I dread to think what they will dream up next.
