Thank You Scientist - My Famed Disappearing Act (Guitar Cover)
Well that's it, the last track on Maps Of Non-Existent Places! See you next week for a new album?
This song slowed me down for weeks. Damn that tapping is completely insane and it sandwiches the song from both sides. ✘✘

Tons of leg work... Amazing job!
How did you go about learning this amazing song? I've been trying to find tabs and looking at slowed-down covers but they're either non-existent or not exactly instructive. I love tappy funky stuff like this but to an intermediate guitarist, it's hard to find a jumping-off point for a beast like this. Thank you and astonishing work covering this crazy song!

Thanks for the comment! Honestly, this song took about a month to get down. I bought the official tabs for the album, which you can get in guitar pro format so I could speed train that intro all evening... every evening. Even then it still took a lot of takes to get it anywhere near close. One day I might be brave enough to try some instructional videos, but producing one of those is a whole other ball game!

The official tabs for this song are available on Sheet Happens Publishing (I would link it but I'm afraid someone will think it's a virus haha) along with a lot of other artists' works. They're a small Canadian firm, but the stuff they put out is either incredible, fantastic or both. Definitely check them out!
Fantastic

@@beatsandbosons any tips? I'm trying my hand at this song and I'm struggling

@@zacerax6000 I wish I had a better answer than just "practice" but that's all it is. How to practice? Well this is how I do it. For the intro I would seriously learn it at 50% tempo maximum to begin with. Divide it into sections that make up phrases you can recognise, e.g. a chord shape or a scale you can remember. Once you have a segment at 50%, learn another segment. Play them both at 50% back to back. Slowly add parts until you can play the whole thing. Then try it at 55%, 60%, 65% etc. The next day start at a lower speed than you can play it at, just to warm up and slowly increase the tempo. Something like this; Day 1 50% Day 2 50%, 55%, 60% Day 3 55%, 60%, 65% It will take time! It took me months for this track.

You planning on doing stranger heads prevail any time soon? Also great job on that intro/outro! In the time I've taken trying to learn just the tapping, I've learned all of blood on the radio lol

Thanks! Yeah that tapping riff is a beast, at least the rest of the song is pretty sensible. I'll probably do another Thank You Scientist album sometime. I have at least one other album to do first...
Awesome man! I’ve been trying to figure out crap like this where there’s no picking - are you compressing the shit out of the signal or is it just… ridiculously powerful left hand tapping lol
@beatsandbosons

There's not much compression on this digital amp actually, the gain is doing the heavy lifting here but I guess the tapping has to be clean and firm too. Just painful practice here.
