You’re right! Obviously you’d stop to rest and refresh. So you can as long as you’re also smart about it & not have medics ruin it for you. Poor Julie Andrews.
So, I fell down the rabbit hole of KZread, and came upon this video. I'm blown away with Lauren Ambrose voice. I didn't know she can sing like this. Applause, applause!!!

Could someone identify them? I went to the website to see who played the first of them to sing, but all the photos were glammed up headshots, and I couldn't be sure which one of the actresses she was.
Growing up, money was tight so my parents owned a grand total of 12 LPs. One was the soundtrack to this play with Rex and Julie. Mom played it endlessly. I'm no expert but I so like this version and this person singing it. I disagree with the commentator who said she performed it like a dirge. Frankly, I like this interpretation way better than the endless bubbliness in the film version. Ms. Ambrose brought a longing to the song I hadn't realized could exist. A longing that such an experience would continue and not have this be the end. Bravo. Will listen again and again.

Mark Marderosian: Your had the ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST if Julie Andrews was included, OR, the ORIGINAL LONDON CAST (in stereo). The soundtrack with a few bits ‘n pieces of Audrey Hepburn had her vocals replaced by Marni Nixon and too well, but that was a production issue. Hearing Hepburn’s own vocals is interesting because she has more lift and personality. It’s not that Nixon was poor-of course not-but Warner Bros. didn’t put the work in behind the scenes that 20th Century Fox did when Nixon dubbed Deborah Kerr in THE KING AND I.
love seeing these recording sessions... the musicians the conductors.. the performers endlessly fascinating

Me too. I like the Newsies one and the Bridges of Madison County ones; but my current favorite is the recording session of Alex Newell singing Mama Will Provide. Not many people can sing as both genders. It's bonkers.

As near to perfection as reality can get.

Bartlett Sher knew. He was going to do Funny Girl with Lauren, but it fell through. Said that she was his Eliza all along despite many auditions. From Wikipedia: "A revival directed by Bartlett Sher had been announced to premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in January 2012[13] with Lauren Ambrose starring as Fanny Brice and Bobby Cannavale as Nicky Arnstein,[14] and then open on Broadway in April 2012.[15] However, on November 3, 2011, producer Bob Boyett announced that this production has been postponed. He said "We have made the extremely difficult decision today to postpone our production of Funny Girl." Long postponement.
Oh...what a dream to be in a recording booth singing to a live orchestra. A singers dream come true. "I Could Have Danced All Night" from "My Fair Lady" is one of the best songs in musical theater. Love singing this song! WOW....awesome job by Lauren Ambrose, her backup singers, conductor and orchestra. Such enormous talent!
Smashing voice, Lauren Ambrose!

I hope Lincoln Center has recorded the whole revival with Lauren Ambrose and puts it on blu ray for all of us to enjoy. She is an amazingly talented performer. The whole cast was stellar. And the touring cast, with Shereen Ahmed and Lair Macintosh, is amazing. So amazing I saw it twice in D.C. and even that wasn't enough times to see it. A timeless musical with great performances. I never really liked this song UNTIL now. Watching and listening to Lauren Ambrose sing this song brought tears to my eyes. She brings a vibrancy to this song that is hard to explain. Maybe it's how she enunciates dan-ced but I find myself listening to this video over and over again. Bravo Lauren Ambrose!
When I was in elementary school my widowed mom was a lingerie buyer for Maison Blanche in New Orleans. So when she'd go to New York to see the manufacturers sometimes she'd take me along. The manufacturers of course comped the buyers and of course Broadway tickets were a big hit. So when I was six years old I got to see the original Broadway production with Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison. It's really become the soundtrack for my life!
