I put a BM Built C4 trans in my 65 Rancho 289 CU. Engine was built to so I wouldn't over Tach the Motor and Spin Rod Bearings my friends did that with their Chevy's with 4 speeds,they were constantly rebuilding their Engines. My Ranchero always stayed together and I would pick up all their parts.

Truth. My old 83 f100 had a bone stock 302 that i put shorty headers and cheap purple hornies on. I cant begin to tell you how many guys at the shops in town asked if I put a cam in it and were shocked when i told em it was a factory stock engine. It was choppy as hell idling and screamed at wide open. I miss that truck but after 3 water pump leaks i was ready to just let it go to someone who had the time to keep fixing it.

One of the reasons why family moved out of Germany. But most Germans like it so it is what it is.
Was told a neat little trick by an old timer exhaust pro on how to set up an x pipe. First set it up with two straight pipes. Run a string along said pipes. Start your engine, and let it run until the exhaust gets hot. Now look at the string. Where ever it burns is where the exhaust gas pulses are happening. That's where you want to place the x. The truck does sound amazing though!
I've always said, The most dangerous time for an engine is before and immediately following upgrades 😃 Sounds bad ass. I feel your pain.
A few years back, I put long tube headers, X pipe, and race bullets on my rusted out 1985 Caprice Classic and it was magical. The mild cammed 305 wasn’t anything like this truck but it sure put a grin on my face. :)
That's like a NASCAR Truck tribute. Sick af and I love it. The sound is pure gold. Nice work! And you already have the nascar steelies and tires. Slap a number on the doors and you have a bonafide NASTruck.
Craig your neighbors must LOVE you!!

Thank you for posting this...I've been looking for the right sound for one of my Ford Trucks...this narrows down a lot for me. The way your truck sounds at 24:44 is INSANE!
That sounds great! My grandfather was a drag racer and one hell of a mechanic. I asked my grandfather for a few blue prints on 302,351 which I have and on one of his prints was basically the same exhaust you built and his was about 6' long and he said that it was optional for his engines. He passed away a few months ago 😢. I have learned a lot and tricks on Ford's. 1 tip I'll give is to advance the timing on your 302 or 302ho 12°.
That thing sounded wicked! Time to build a 408 Windsor 😁
I’ve been watching for quite sometime and seeing this truck progress has made me start on mine and get it running again. 91 model. Love watching this truck and everything you’re doing to it. Keep up the work! I love seeing these videos!!!
I never was a fan of running pipe after the exhaust, especially flows (always felt it gave it a deeper sound) but u have officially changed my mind..best sounding exhaust ive heard in a long time
I remember one of my first work trucks looked exactly like that but bigger stock tires higher off the ground that thing drove and sounded beautiful made you feel more alive and I was a high end valet I drove pretty much everything
Sucks that the motor got hurt! But....That fly by was fucking sick! Love the video bro ♥️

What motor is in the Ford Btw?? Is it the infamous 300??
@roaridanbuzerak8761
Жыл бұрын
@Rejected-From-Eve .Zero those 400m's will pull 6500 lightly built. Need a 4 venturi carb, headers, and some flat top Pistons that are true to the deck of the block. 2venturi heads will flow and make decent power. Especially for cheap. Little port and polish and you can flow decently. Only need a 450-550cfm carb to make big power. Properly tuning the carb is vital to the motor.
Deff a huge improvement in sound and I'm sure it gained some performance. I know your frustration. I finished my 94 mustang 331 build, broke it in over two weeks of light driving. Put it on the dyno and on the last pull it started ticking and was down some cylinders. I got lucky and some rockers just backed off. Hopefully you find something easy/ cheap to repair and get that beast back in the road.
As a Chevy guy I gotta say man you got a badass sounding truck and that thing moves!! Hope you get it fixed soon. Cheers
My 78 f250 sounds like this. 393 Cleveland stroke, 4-1 1-3/4 headers to 3" collector, x pipe to magnaflow mufflers dumped at the diff. Sounds mint and racie just like this truck
The pull and downshifts at 24:00 just put the biggest smile on my face!

@Resistculturaldecline
8 ай бұрын
@joshmitchamore89 Difficult to describe. The ability to hear it, at least for myself, was hearing engines that were too rich and then developing an ear for too lean. Only way I can think to explain it, although insufficiently is that it sound very hot, dry. No bellow at all, very "zingy". It's more of a pronounced sound when tuning two strokes, like outboards and chainsaws.
I'd say I like the tone and rumble that an "H" pipe makes better usually... but damn, that sounded really good! Also, that first part of the video with the flyby was super cinematic and bad ass. Love your content man!

Hell yeah dude. Sounds SICK. Running a 302 with a 268h into shorties with a 3 inch single exhaust blakcwidow angry house wife. I'm absolutely in love with the sound 🤘🤘
It's actually cool how similar this sounds to my F150. (Yours is defiantly better since my engine is still nearly stock though) I've gotten quite a few complements on it.
I just bought a red and white, '73 F100 short bed Ranger xlt. It's a heap, but I started liking F100s because of your truck, that I first saw in 2016. my goodness i can't stop rewatching that drive by 😍😍😍 music to my ears! Im buying this for ny 1987 4Runner. I have bought w camshaft for it as well but till then i found the perfect exhaust
My car doesn't sound quite like this, but it is very close and having true dual exhaust is wonderful with headers! Just needs a manual transmission now. Great work!
Absolutely love it. Also a big fan of the tone you get from an X. Especially when coupled with Magnaflows.
Man I love your truck , and you built one killer exhaust Craig . Cheers 🍻
Dude, i´m really sorry for the broken motor, i can tell you that seen you workin´ on your truck, trully move me to my highschool times, trying to modify my cars back then. Thank god i found your channel, i think that you´re a cool guy. Cheers from CDMX, Mexico. (what a blasting sound man, the fly by was fckin epic man, brought tears to my eyes 4 real)
I actually have a similar story! I grew up with my mom driving a 68 chevelle. I took it over in 95 as my first car in high school. I recently built a high rev destroked sac with 11.5:1 compression. I put it in with the old exhaust that sounded awesome with the old motor but the new motor sounded terrible. I have 3” from the collector into an X pipe then ran through a set of jones resonators dumped before the rearend. Sounds great now but not quite as good as yours! You sound like your spinning 9K. I shift at 7,200.
Great work! Sounds amazing. My only suggestion would be to cut the ends at a slant that is flush with the bedside. My dad had a 69 F100...I miss that thing so much!
Sounds great man. I ruined a good engine due to leaning out once and will never make that mistake again. I run a wide band on everything now as a cheap insurance policy.

Is leaning-out referring to ' fuel injection ' air fuel ratio ? or dose it affect regular carbureted and TBI engine also. My 454cu.in tbi always runs rich. Too rich
@singularity7968
Жыл бұрын
@@missingremote4388 It refers to the AFR and can happen with EFI or carb setups. Generally, anything higher than 12.9 at WOT is considered lean. Nitrous and boost setups should be even less.

Great Job for sure! What a dream come true for ya, but then the motor, ugh. Bigger and better once again, good luck! You definitely have the sound down, totally love it 💪🏻💯
Craig, coat the connecting ends in anti-seize and they will come apart much easier(the good copper type). Power flow aircraft exhaust system requires anti-seize be applied after every 100 hour/annual inspection and it works great.
@5_mpg_fe_
Жыл бұрын
I've always used anti-seize on all (non gasketed) exhaust connections, and hardware. Totally agree that it just makes life simpler when it's time for service of any kind. It makes alignment with movable joints far, far easier as well. Excellent advice.
This video about sums up the relationship with old cars. Work on it, have the time of your life and then it breaks. Love hate Love the sound, it's jaw dropping!!
That's an exhaust man! Amazing sound. I have plans for something like this!
I LOVE how raw that truck is dude! SOUNDS SICK SICK SICK LOVE FLAG, NICE TOUCH THERE. THE ONLY SHINY THING ON THE TRUCK
Dude that truck is sweet that view of coming around that corner is awesome it sounds bad ass 👍
It may be a stretch but it would be badass if you could get the truck on this vs that with hoonigan since they do all power level cars! Also the x pipe would have made the super 10s sound a lot better too haha
Nice man, it sounds insane!! Hopefully what happened is a simple fix. At least you'll know what to do different next time around. I know it gets old though having to keep digging back into it.
I have an FE based F100 dent, with a tremec behind it as well. Built my own exhaust too, but is all 3" and used some old MAC flow path mufflers. From the collectors, went over the transmission cross member and stuffed electric cutouts w/turn downs in the same area as well. Crossover is literally directly under the output shaft/U-joint area. Is probably the 5th or 6th exhaust I've had on it since highschool, but to me the tone is unbeatable/I finally found what I was looking for. Fab was delicate to cram all that mess in there, but it was well worth it. Your truck sounds fantastic dude! Very well done! Almost sounds like you're running the "old" firing order too. Throw some (now affordable) leftover 1990s Yates heads on that thing and LET 'ER EAT!! Love the truck man, really.
Best sounding exhaust I think I've ever heard on a street legal vehicle. Perfect!
Check the welds on your headers, hanging the full exhaust on header flanges and then beating with a hammer could likely crack/break something
Gotta say gonna do open headers on my truck and then I’m gonna do this style of exhaust. I’m 16 right now and my first truck is a 1993 f150.
Reminds me of my old car's exhaust. It was a V6 but the way I tuned the exhaust people would hear it and say it sounded like a mustang or a race car. Had dual pipe from the headers to a Y pipe then went into a single inlet dual outlet flowmaster 40 delta. Wasn't the fastest but sounded fast.
Very entertaining video and I hope you get the engine sorted out soon. The truck sounds amazing.
What does perfection sound like? THIS... Until you broke it. But at the beginning of the vid- OMG... YES.
