    Thank you for all the content on this watch. Your videos were a big reason I picked up a green dial today while vacationing in Japan. Bic Camera (chain store) offers a 15% discount to tourists if you provide your passport and pay with a Visa credit card. The Salesman was very adamant in his best broken English that the Atomic clock wouldn’t work outside of Japan. For $301 OTD I think I can live with that!

    PMD56-2952 owner here. The bezel is not PVD coated, but DLC coated -which is a tougher and more scratch resistant coating. DLC stands for diamond like carbon 😉

    Great choice! I've recently acquired (roughly) the same watch (ref. AT6080-53L), and it's everything I hoped it would be. I'm pretty sure I've found _one of_ my exit watches here. I don't even mind the lack of radio reception where I live, since I have to leave my watch by the window overnight to get the Fort Collins signal, and I actually find it more convenient to use a smartphone app. The size was perfect for my ~19.50cm wrist right out of the box, with the clasp at its tightest setting. I actually chose the AT6080 over the PMD56 because it accommodates a 20.00cm wrist (w/o extending the clasp) vs the PMD56 @ 19.40cm. I'm in the process of selling watches, after reaching my own personal "height of the craziness" with the hobby as you did. It feels great to be simplifying, and I'm getting a surprising amount of my money back out. Anyhow, great choice & best of luck to you! 👍

    How you liking the 6080 I keep thinking of moving on the autos and downsizing the collection. The specs on this look great just concerned it looks too toolish what do you think ?

    @@daveLin104 The "honeymoon" is about over, but the watch is definitely a keeper. It's just incredibly comfortable, looks cool (subjectively), and the feature set is practically everything my heart desires. I believe AT6080 does fit in the "tool watch" category, but in my actual life I can wear it nearly always. "Too toolish" is in the eye of the beholder, but personally I appreciate the excellent legibility. For something nicer that you probably wouldn't wear during physical work, I'd choose something like AQ4091. Add a chronograph (or moon phase or w/e you like) for the 3rd piece, and you'd be in great shape.

    Thanks Simon, I too have purchased this watch (5601 - Green Dial) from Shopping in Japan and absolutely love it. I have the JJY Emulator working on the iphone (anyone worked out how to automate that ?) but will probably build the Pi Emulator for the fun of it. While your several reviews weren't the only reviews I watched, they were certainly the most compelling. Cheers STB

    I have this watch too. Really like it! The things I'd want Citizen to improve for a new release are 1.)ability to sync world wide, 2.)darker dial (as close to VantaBlack as realistically possible), 3.) whiter indices and hands, 4.)better lume, 5.) an improved scratch resistant coating

    Curiously, I'm getting the PMD56-2951 (the green dial one) today or tomorrow, and also decided that it will be my exit watch. I'm also thinking on further shrinking my collection to about 5 timepieces: Citizen PMD56, Casio OCW-T200S, Casio GMW-B5000D, Orient RA-AA0001B and Certina DS Caimano Titanium (whose model number I'll never remember).Three of them are solar-powered and longwave-synced, two of them are also Bluetooth-synced, one is HAQ (with under 10 s/year deviation) and one is mechanical but with the ability to regulate at home and keeps nice time after this process. Also, two of them are titanium, three of them have sapphire, three of them have 20 bar WR rating and the other two have 10 bar. But if I only had to keep one of them, it would be this Citizen. Upd. Got it on May 7, definitely is the one.

    Hi Simon, thanks for the great reviews on PMD56. Is there a way to figure out the manufactured date of this watch? I know that The first two digits are important as it indicates year and month. Mine starts with 06. Could this mean 2020 and June?

  • @simonthewatchguy6073

    @simonthewatchguy6073

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes either June 2010 or June 2020. Probably hard to tell because I don't think the design has changed. But if it's in good condition it's much more likely to be a 2020. If it's scratched up then it'll be a 2010 I'd say.

    @@simonthewatchguy6073 Thanks for the quick reply. For some reason, my original comment was deleted which contained a lot more details. Long story short, Mine is 062xxxxxx, by any chance do you know what the 3 digits after 06 mean? I've seen a lot 103 which were manufactured before 2020. Combining 06 and 203 could mean 2020 hopefully. Thanks Simon!

    Yes, that seems to be an updated facelift version, still JDM I believe. I've seen two versions, one plain titanium with a dark blue dial, the other has a pvd type coating giving it a nice gunmetal grey, dark grey or black dial with a slightly retro patina like colour.

    AT6080 also supports a slightly larger wrist (200mm vs. 194mm). It won't matter for most, but for me this clinched my decision for AT6080 over PMD56.
