This was my favorite video you've ever uploaded. Thank you for sharing a piece of your culture and family history with us! I've been watching you for five years and I'm always impressed by the content you create. In this video, it was clear how much time you spent putting everything together, and all the moments you captured felt so intentional and real. ❤

I can totally relate to being surpirsed by the community orientedness in other countries. When i visit the philippines i am always so grateful for my extended family whom i either just met or havent seen in many years willing to really care for us on our trip. First time i was in the philippines in a long time my uncle picked me up from the airport and drove 8 hours! And then 8 hours back to my sick grandma who i was visiting. The hospitality of strangers or long lost family members/friends is an amazing beautiful thing im so grateful for. It does inspire me to act that way towards my friends in my day to day life!

💛💛💛💛💛 This vlog is so good. So informative. So diverse. I'm talking family time, fashion, Food, business, music, culture. Everything! The looks were serving. No crumbs were left. The part where your mom was talking about singing off key sent me to another universe 🤣! Such a great summary of what seems like an amazing trip.

As a Stockholm resident I couldn't stop thinking about how you Eras tour tourists got so incredibly lucky with the weather! You really got the best possible Stockholm experience. Sunny, warm and lively. Hope you enjoyed the trip. It's a very beautiful city when it wants to be. regarding the winter question: It gets really depressing but we cope by creating our own light. We have this big christmas tradition of putting a lot of christmas lights in our apartment windows from like early december all the way to january. So if you walk around town on a dark december afternoon you'll see all these stars and candles and other kinds of lights in every window. It doesn't replace the sun but it at least adds a nice ambience in the otherwise gloomy time of the year

Hi Natalie - thoroughly enjoyed this vlog! Thank you for bringing us along. What a wonderful tradition your family has of going on vacation every year together (taking note that I too would love to do this one day with my husband and kids [when they come]). I’m glad you got to experience Romania and connect with your father’s roots - what a treat! I imagine it made it all that much sweeter to experience it along him. Oh and your reunion with your beloved nanny - had me tearing up! So heartwarming! P.S. El Catrin in Geneva, Switzerland has amazing Mexican food!

This was so heartwarming and culturally relatable to watch, I can definitely relate to living with the differences between an individualistic and collectivist culture and community caring, as I'm east African born in London. So happy for you that you got to have an insight into your dad's upbringing wish that for myself some day! 💕

Agreed with your comments about immigrant parents having a different POV about life! and yes, that's passed down to us, through stories and seeing their realities especially as I'm getting older... i have started to understand my parents more and more. Thankyou for sharing with us this special experience! I hope we get to see your moms side of Honduras one day too :)

We actually had really good Mexican food in Budapest! I was soooo excited when we found it because at the time I had been visiting Romania for 2 months (my parents are also from Romania) and was craving something other than Romanian food! I’m used to the US where we have all the cuisines so eating the same thing for 2 months was rough.

So happy you enjoyed your time here! I would just make a small clarification - you said Stockholm has less than 1 million people but that's in Stockholm city proper, in the Stockholm metro area (stockholm county) there's around 2.4 million people :) regarding winter, a lot of people struggle with seasonal depression. i make sure to load up on vitamin d as a non-native swede, but my very swedish partner (he's half swedish half finnish) has never had any issues with vitamin d deficiency and doesn't have any issues with the darkness haha. the biggest tip is usually to find a winter hobby to give you something to look forward to in the winter, but swedes really do seem to emerge from hibernation in the spring/summer and try and soak up as much sun as possible!

Hi Natalie, thank you for mentioning the sense of community people tend to have in European countries. Many immigrants find it very difficult to establish relationships of any kind with Americans. Americans are kind and welcoming to strangers but, unfortunately, it is hard to forge deep relationships with them.

Swedish meatballs are served with lingonberry, not cranberry! Also winters are not as great as the summers but the key is to just book in nice activities (fika, dinners, exhibit visits, runs) to make life fun. Glad that you enjoyed your trip and thanks for sharing!❤

also I watch your vids while I"m eating so I'm finishing this one rn and not me almost crying when you're talking ab seeing where your dad came from compared to now. i went to the "villages" / countryside of Bosnia and Croatia when I was 13 with my dad to see where my grandparents and aunts/ uncles were from and we had extended family who I had never met before greet us with the same generosity (and my dad was even born in the US), and it was so eye opening + the slow living made a huge impact on me. you'll remember this trip forever!! glad you're documenting it

Go abroad for a few years as right now you don't really understand anything. As for communist times in Romania, economic hardship is just economic hardship but what actually mattered , what was fundamentally different , was the fear of authority - you can't understand it, unless you have lived in such a system. And BTW, from an economic point of view, the 60s were good, the 70s were ok, the 80s were bad and late 80s terrible. Oh and the US and opportunities thingy, is just PR and a lie.
