    Hey Paul, I know that you have one video explaining the Advanced Themer options, but I would love to see a video of your settings & features that you use from Advanced Themer. Thanks a lot and keep working on what you're doing, you are really a great help to us.

    Interesting idea - I may well look into doing something like that once I've settled on the (ever changing) feature set. But, tbh, I keep things pretty minimal.

    Great video Paul, more or less we have the same stack. I am still on the edge of getting on the AT train. I do believe it will increase my development speed but I am trying to keep the number of plugins as small as possible. Thanks for sharing patchstack, will look into it.

    It is, but bear in mind that ACF recently changed their licensing and that impacts the use of it my 3rd party tools (like AT), so I prefer to disable ACF in AT and use my own Pro license and have full and future access to everything and not have to worry about any future changes. ;)

    Great stack - WP Grid builder is the only one I'd add in my stack as essential (for most sites). I'm curious, what do you use for filter/facet/search?

    I have (and will use where necessary) GridBuilder WP. It's a solid plugin, but for many use cases the soon to be released filtering coming to Bricks will replace that core functionality.

    Good job @paul, please can you make an exclusive video on bricks builder, please. An A to Z usage of the builder. I have puchased the builder since last year, bbut can't use it. However, i am not good at coding. Please can you do this for us 🙏??

    Great video as usual. Quick question. What tech stack would you build to get the same functions as Gohighlevel. I like their platform but I want to stay in the wordpress ecosystem. This way i dont have to worry about Gohighlevel getting bought out and my price going up.

    I'm a bit confused when it comes to Perfmatters. Can it replace completely your caching plugin and redis cache?

  • @bluetheredpanda

    @bluetheredpanda

    5 ай бұрын

    No. It's rather used to fine tune the plugins that are active on each page (and so, the files that are included on each page), as well as more general options to fine tune WordPress, CSS minification etc. I find not being able to buy a lifetime license a little annoying, but the price is fair. If you've never used it, I'd recommend picking a copy for your website or your next client project (it costs something like $25/year for a single website these days, so not a huge commitment)

  • @klitos15

    @klitos15

    5 ай бұрын

    @@bluetheredpanda I wonder then why a caching plugin is not part of the essential stack.

  • @bluetheredpanda

    @bluetheredpanda

    5 ай бұрын

    @@klitos15 well, what you have to understand is, caching is only really necessary to reduce the execution time of the PHP or the SQL requests. In effect, it’s like creating static (HTML) versions of your pages. But due to their static nature, you lose some capabilities, and there are some things you cannot cache, ever (ie. Cart page, pages with dynamic components depending on user conditions, or time of day, or stuff like that). Server caching being so prevalent is primarily a thing in the WordPress world - in the rest of modern web development ecosystems, browser cache is more heavily focused on (as in, users not having to redownload CSS and JS files they’ve already downloaded). In a way, you could consider server caching a band-aid, used to mitigate the slowness brought about by the way WordPress functions, heavy themes/plugins, and unoptimized assets. It doesn’t fix the source of the issue. On the other hand, if you’re on a fast server, use a lean stack such as Bricks, and properly optimize your assets before uploading, and then optimize the CSS and JS delivered on each page with Perfmatters, you don’t really need it all that much (at least, not on all scenarios), because you’ve cured the disease, so to speak, so you don’t need to mitigate the symptoms (it’s a bit… out there, as an analogy, but I hope it makes all this more understandable). These days, the major use I personally have for the Litespeed plugin is minification and delivering assets via CDNs. But I don’t use the actual caching features for nearly half my projects. So, to add to my previous reply, Perfmatters cannot replace a caching plugin entirely. But it can be used as part of an approach that somewhat negates the need for a caching plugin.
