    Need your advice bud. I got the 25 anniversary edition PreSonus with the two Mike interface, the microphone you're holding, and the headphones. It was on sale for only $65 at $150 off. But I have been seeing a lot of videos that are saying it's super noisy and the amp cannot drive many Dynamic microphones like your re 20. The problem is, people are telling me the thing has a lot of hum. Is this something you have experienced or is it a clean sounding interface?

  • @theoutsiderjess4869

    Hey Ricky Young! I bought a sm57 like 6 months ago becouse in the tigthes budget I wanted versatility. You think owning both the sm57 and sm58 is redundant? Btw I also think the P170 is dark and my voice is really dark too but, just a preference, I prefer to EQ a dark mic than a bright one. This is for everyone that is looking for any microphone: if it works fine, the rest is about preference and your speific space, form your own opinion based on the evidence that is provided.

  • @AudioHaze

    @AudioHaze

    2 жыл бұрын

    Nice! And no I feel like most studios will have both :) it’s not the most necessary to have both, but it helps in any situation. That’s true, dark EQs can be easier but I also think you have to factor in noise control here, because if you’re EQ’ing the high end on a dark mic, it may get buzzy unless noise is under control

    Quick question, I currently have the sm58 for content creation and streaming. My voice is more on the higher end (male) and I was wondering if the sm58 is relatively good for that (suggestions are welcome).

  • @AudioHaze

    @AudioHaze

    2 жыл бұрын

    I would say its neither good or bad for that, the SM58 is sort of just a sound we all recognize, it does have a presence boost but its not necessarily overly bright. I know the Se V7 is considered much flatter, so it may be a bit more mild and smooth on a brighter voice (but I haven't got the chance to check it out so I'm not positive)

    I picked up a used Shure sm7b and cloudlifter two years ago for $470 USD. I originally had the rode n1, but was able to resell it for what I got it for. I never rly use my microphone anymore expect for talking to people online in games. Do you think it'd be worth it to sell it and buy a sm57 instead with a pop filter?

    I bet this video gets big views just because you mentioned unscripted gear stuff often does lol. Quick question (possibly a dumb one). I know you've spoken about EQ on this channel before, but I don't believe you've discussed this directly. When you apply EQ to a mic does it completely alter the mics frequency response to fit that eq or does it simply alter the existing frequency response? For example, if the mic is boosted at 100hz by +3dB using EQ but it already has a +2dB boost to begin with does this mean that the actual frequency response becomes +5dB at 100hz or is it exactly as specified by the EQ? Thanks, John.

  • @AudioHaze

    @AudioHaze

    2 жыл бұрын

    It would end up being a +5dB boost :) flat on an EQ curve does not mean the EQ is making the mic completely flat, that just means the EQ hasn't adjusted anything yet. And there are no dumb questions! We're all learning here
