My Entire MD Degree in 25 Minutes

🌲 2x your learning speed, slash your study hours in half ➔ www.cajunkoi.com/landings/study-quest?My+Entire+MD+Degree+in+25+Minutes
I applied to medical school at the age of 21, and I didn't start my first job as a doctor until I was 31. Talk about delayed gratification. But my medical journey is not the typical one that you would expect. In this video, I reflect on the highs and lows of the medical career, and everything I learned on the way.
🙏 Thanks for watching!

Sir can you have another video about your medical journey but longer? Like a 1 hr video or 40 mins i'm down to listen 😩. Will help us students who are ignorant and have no connections aside from influencers like you! That would be great thank you so much

I’m a surgeon. Been working in the O.R. for 45 yrs. I listened to your presentation with interest. I won’t be around to hear it, but I’m curious how you’ll feel when you hit 50 or 60 years old, if you last that long. Spoiler….there is no top of the mountain, if you’ve chosen wisely. Your goals keep changing. Good luck.

I can kinda relate to the “everyone else is moving on” thing. I started school when I was 24, not for medicine but radiology tech. I wanted to get the best grades I could get on all my prerequisites so I could get accepted into the course with out having to retake any prerequisites. While none of my friends went to school, they are all married and what seems to have moved on. I have an additional two years left in my schooling before I graduate. I say all this because if you’re going to school to better yourself as a person then by all means go for it. Don’t do it for a title or “it’s because what we do” because the time it takes and the amount of effort will be grueling for you.. And your friends won’t understand but that’s ok, when you graduate and are able to make an appropriate living with out the help of mom or dad. Not there’s anything wrong with that but it’s a liberating feeling. When your married friends are struggling to make ends meet, then they’ll understand why you chose to better yourself now. rather then later

I find it insane when being a doctor is someone’s first job. Then again I’m 31 and attending medical school at 32, since I didn’t attend college until age 29. I’ve had a dozen jobs when I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I’m always unsure if my being older helps or hinders my journey to medical school and eventually becoming a doctor.

Wow, this video made me emotional and I wasn't expecting that. I never thought about how hard the stories in the life of a med student can be. Wanting to get into med school myself, this video has really made me appreciate doctors more than I already did, of course the video also scared me a decent amount because I'm thinking about all the sad encounters and hardships this life comes with, but it motivates me to think that these hardships make it all the more fulfilling when it pays off after being there for someone who needs your help when no one else, not even their family, can help them. Thank you so much for the insight.

This was incredibly heartwarming to hear. I sincerely appreciate you kindly sharing your journey thus far. I am very glad I clicked and watched through this whole video because I am finishing graduate school in Applied Statistics and realized my passion comes from the theoretical aspects and sharing my knowledge and learning with others. I realized about a year ago that my passions come from learning daily. Whether it ties to my job or not. And of course, tackling challenges - rock-climbing, weightlifting/powerlifting, skydiving, chess, Rubik's cube - there is so much to try. I don't want my life to be centralized and fixated upon solely enjoying my career. I felt that was the message you are unintentionally verbalizing. Rather, you want to progressively learn (as you mentioned "keep climbing"). That is what I hope for. I have a fear of the unknown with the industry of statistics, but I hope to keep learning and growing in theory and applications related to Math and Statistics and utilize my knowledge to help others. You also gave me an idea on possibly concocting my own KZread channel on learning to learn and becoming a better critical thinker with theory and applications starting with Discrete Math/tying it into life. Thank you again. I loved the content and effort you put into your video.

I recently got my dream job at my dream hospital and I totally relate to what you said when you get to the top of the mountain. I just had that moment where I was wondering "so...what's next?". It's kind of like an empty feeling after you finished a great show or a book. But like you said the passion for learning is still there. I'm learning everyday at my new job and looking forward to learn more about different specialties in the future. Also thinking about teaching so who know I may go back to school for another degree in the future. I'm glad that I wasnt the only one who had that "empty" feeling when your dream is fulfilled. Definitely gonna enjoy and appreciate the journey in my future mountains climbing!

Managing the rigours of a medical degree course is difficult enough, but the fact you also took a business degree course blew my mind. I did a year of residency but quit due to circumstances in the hospital I was working fueled by the pandemic. I can relate with what you said about how the more difficult cases gave us more confidence in managing patients. The high of learning and saving lives is really fulfilling. I'm currently doing community work as a GP and is still contemplating if I will go back for residency. Thank you for sharing your journey. The desire to learn more was again ignited in me. Will definitely go back to residency training,

This is one of the best KZread videos i have ever seen. No kidding, i always tought "inspirational" videos were cheesy and just rich people flexing. But you were really honest and sincere about everything you said. Really enjoyed this video and that soul analogy as well 😀👍

4L takeaways: *It's so weird (and inspiring of course) seeing so many KZreadrs reaching their goals and upon their reflections, a running theme that I had internalised was the simple premise of "enjoying the journey" + "it doesn't really matter which mountain you choose to climb, just focus on climbing" + When things become predictable, you may begin to lose a sense of accomplishment. I recently sat an exam and for the first time in my academic career, I came out feeling like I achieved the grade I wanted. But because I had put in hours of work and sacrificed majority of my social life to achieve it, I was emotionless at the expected outcome. However, when I got a grade lower than expected, a sense of urgency would kick in and suddenly I felt more emotional as I had a challenging goal with an unpredictable outcome to work towards. When I felt emotional was when I felt focused on climbing. So though I'm very grateful for delayed gratification, I'm definitely going through the phase of enjoying the things you're currently doing (e.g. learning how to learn!) + You guys are so young and have so much potential to grow! Thanks once again for being role models in the medical community : ))

Thanks for taking the time to share your story too, it means a lot to be able to connect with like-minded people here. It’s great that you were able to set your mind to a task and follow it through, even though it caused you to sacrifice on social and life momentarily, it demonstrated to us that you have the willpower. Love hearing about it, thanks for taking the time 🙏

@@KoiAcademy Thanks, Mike! I'm still experimenting though, I might change it again. By the way, this video is one of the best I've seen this year! Totally feel you, I've never used Calculus 1, 2, 3, 4, or any of the other subjects I took in Engineering school until now! Also growing up Asian to falling in love with study to not being overjoyed when you achieve something, this is so relatable. With that being said, I'm actually considering going back to (Med) School. It has always been my first love. (I missed a couple of marks back then, so I have to go to Engineering school instead, haha) I know it'll just be another mountain to climb, but I enjoy bouldering and I'm a mountain person! Thank you so much for sharing such an amazing journey and valuable lesson!
