Thank you for taking us on a tour of your classics bookshelves. I so enjoyed the trip :) One book I think you should look out for is the Puffin in Bloom version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The illustrations are beautiful, and next to the original classic by John Tenniel, they are my favorite❤

You should definitely give A Clockwork Orange a go! It’s hard to get into it at first because the writing style is incredibly unique, but once you get the gist of it it’s so, so worthy! It’s a one of a kind book :)

Do you like the Wordsworth black ones? Because I’m scared to buy them due to the font.

Haha, I always confuse "Crime and Punishment" with "Pride and Prejudice" 😅😅😅. I even tend to say "Pride and Punishment" a lot 😅😅😅 (that would be a good one, where a very proud man is punished to live the rest of his life with a chatty mother-in-law 😂)

Gorgeous collection:) The Seasons are my favorite and I was exited when they announced they were re-releasing Pride and Pride and Prejudice along with Nortanger Abbey and Mansfield Park. One other edition I would recommend if you're looking for one in future is the Everyman's Library edition.

I’ve read and loved a lot of Edith Wharton, but I’m afraid you won’t like her books much. I think you’ll strongly dislike the main character of The House of Mirth 😅 You talking Portugese is so gorgeous. I remember always hearing Fado everywhere when visiting Portugal. It’s beautiful.

I first became interested in Pessoa after watching a documentary about how he and a very well-known greek poet, Kavafis accidentally met on a cruise ship to America in 1928. I believe a documentary about it was made in Portuguese too. Anyway, I have had the Book of Disquiet for years, but every time I try reading it I am moved to tears, I don't know why!

I am told that The Clockwork Orange is a book with 21 chapters, broken into 3 sections of 7 chapters each. The movie stops at chapter 20, to appeal to the American audience. The final chapter totally changes the whole perspective and meaning of the book (and rather the opposite of the movie). Because of the flowerful invented language, it can be a difficult read. Without really knowing what you have read or liked in depth, I will make these recommendations. I see the ones that you own, but it was sometimes difficult to know which ones you read versus unread. I would recommend Homer's Odyssey and the Iliad, because it is referenced so many times, either directly or indirectly. It would build a solid foundation to Western Literature. It also depends upon which translation you use. Research THAT before digging into those two (I am unsure if you are reading English or Portuguese translation). I also recommend The Count of Monte Cristo. A very fast read and in my top 1% ( I think I read it in less than a week). So many plot lines are stolen from this book. You may find it interesting to discover that your favorite action/fantasy book or movie with a unique plot or twist actually has borrowed it from this book.
