That Grant Stone natural chromexcel pair is gorgeous.
Very cool!
I love the GS Ottawa boots. I have a pair of Crimson cxl Ottawa boots which are super nice because they’re like the Alden Tankers.
Nice collection. I actually like to wear out my boots, so I covered the reasonable needs for different situations, and not allowing myself to buy more pairs, just because I want them, until I wear some of them out
*Wherever you keep them, does it make the room smell like leather? Great collection!*
What a solid collection. I like that you have more than just a bunch of brown boots. Here's a video idea: If you had to start from zero, what would be the first 10-12 boots you would buy, that are readily available and have not been discontinued or vaulted? I got my eye on those Grant Stone Dunes and Truman Javas ;)

How long did did it take to break in the Thorogood roofer boots, or the Chromexel, and what your thoughts on the comfort say to the Indys..Thanks and the collection is awesome.
@DalesLeatherworks
2 жыл бұрын
thank you!! it's difficult for the roofers because the CXL ones break in very quickly but the roughout one was a bit more stubborn. ultimately it's going to depend on the leather and whether it's lined or unlined. i'd compare the thorogood last more to the alden barrie than the alden trubalance which is what the indy is built on! same sizing though
WOW, I’m blown away. Favorites are the Truman Shrunken Bison, and the Honey Glaze Cordovan. Keep up the good work!

Maybe its daunting because you have too many boots. I thought I had a lot and I only have 3 pairs of Trumans and 1 pair of Oakstreets
Great collection! It's a fever isn't it? Once bitten by the bug, it's non-stop boots. There is a Stitchdown article with Matt Grey, he acquired more than 30 pair of Alden shell boots in only a few years. I'm 4 months in, and started my own collection. Again, Awesome!

Do you have any boots with an unstructured toe box? If so how do they compare?? Cheers
Hard to pick a fav in your collection... but I think I’d say I like the Alden country calf plain toe. It’s a unique and uncommon leather. Your boots got me hunting for some country calf and I just picked up some Alden long wings in country calf off ebay! Keep up the great content 🤙🏻

man heck yes excellent choice!!! you're so right it's such an uncommon but truly brilliant leather with all the grain character it has going on. Not to mention calfskin is an incredibly durable leather, right up there with shell in my opinion!! Andrew Carr (inn8chiro) on instagram actually had an obsession with tan country calf and he bought around 5 different pairs of Aldens in it, long wing bluchers included!! Wear yours in good health my friend

Keep up the great videos! Looks like you obtained a lot of Truman's before they did away with Stichdown. What's your opinion on their Gyw construction vs. the older types quality/ comfort / fit wise?
@DalesLeatherworks
4 жыл бұрын
thanks my friend!! yes I do have many Trumans on the stitch down welt and to be honest I like the goodyearwelted ones more. I personally like the aesthetic of the GYW with the storm welt, plus the price is much lower AND they're easier to resole from what I understand.
Great Video as usual. Love the Truman’s and the Aldens. I have some too. But my White’s and Nicks are by FAR my favorite and most comfortable boots I own. I have Kyle at Baker Boots making me a custom pair of brown waxed flesh boots as we speak. Here’s my question. Recommend me something in a color 8!
@DalesLeatherworks
4 жыл бұрын
dude that's awesome, and this is something I hear consistently which is that Nick's and White's are some of the best out there!! I just have a hard time navigating their websites and the ordering process has also deterred me to a slight degree, but I do hope to one day land a pair. Color 8 is a classic color!! I think they really shine is in a classic captoe boot, but also in a plain toe boot. really you can't go wrong with any color 8 makeup but those are my picks
I love the bootnado 👢👢 Great Video my friend. You have a great collection.

All your boots are top notch. It would helpful to know the differences as far as fit and comfort. I‘m a D width with a very high arch so any boots with arch support that are comfortable to wear for my foot shape would be my favorite. Can’t go wrong with any boots in your collection.

I always enjoy your videos. Amazing collection. Although you mention you have a pair of Red Wing work boots, there are no red wi g in your basic boot collection. So, just curious as to your thoughts on Red Wing boots.
@DalesLeatherworks

thanks my friend!!! yes I didn't want to show my redwings because they're covered in paint and concrete and they are really badly beaten up lol!! redwings are great boots, I would put them on the same level as wolverine
You have an elegant collection. I tried my hand at Indy's but the last just doesn't work for my feet. Wide in the ball of the foot but narrow in the toes in my size. At least I can live through your collection haha.
@DalesLeatherworks

I hear ya man, everyone's foot shape is different and sometimes they just don't resonate with certain lasts!!
I go with some color & texture; the red no8(?) or Bordeaux..oxblood? In bison !,, If you are not wearing them ...just sale a few pairs. I do NO want to break-in a pair, so I am looking for “experience” boots at 1/3 the price...(?) is it such a thing? Size 9 no captoe or any stitching OR woman’s 11
That shrunken bison. So many good looking boots! How do you choose which boot to wear each day?
@DalesLeatherworks

hahahaha great question! I honestly don't know! I try to focus on the newer stuff though :-)
Wow, what a collection! I got a pair of White’s Stormjumpers at Christmas time and have since ordered a pair of Truman Black waxed flesh that I’m anxiously waiting for. I’ll pick a brown pair too at some point, but then I’m stopping! My favorite of yours are the java waxed flesh from Truman. Do you think they are too close in color to the black ones I’ll be getting (since I’ll only have 2 pairs)?
@DalesLeatherworks
4 жыл бұрын
thanks my friend!! wow really great pickups you've made!! the Trumans in java waxed flesh are very dark brown, close to black, but the good news is that they lighten up after a lot of heavy wear. since you'll have the black waxed flesh and you want a brown pair, I would opt instead for the chestnut waxed flesh which is a lighter, warmer shade of brown or even go for natural waxed flesh

Great boot collection. I did noticed that you are heavily into Truman, Viberg, Grant Stone, and Alden boots. I don't think you mentioned a single Allen Edmonds, 1000 mile or Thursday boot in the collection. Do you consider those a sub tier of boots that don't meet a quality standard?
@DalesLeatherworks
2 жыл бұрын
thanks so much!! I've never owned Allen Edmond though I've seen them and handled them in person. I do have a pair of wolverine 1000 miles I got from Gilt for $50. It's true I've never owned Thursday boots. The truth is there are many brands I haven't tried. I've gravitated towards the brands you mentioned due to the heritage and quality put into them, as well as the aesthetic that appeals to me.
What do you think about this list of U.S.A.-made boots?: Wesco, White’s, Nicks, Rancourt & Co., Oak Street, Origin Maine, Parkhurst, Wolverine-1000 Mile. And have you considered purchasing any of these? Thanks!
@DalesLeatherworks

yes I do have Whites, Nick's, and Parkhurst on my radar! I do have a pair of wolverines I use as work boots, they're great too!

aerosurferlv here is the best advice as a former boot nut that spent thousands on boots and shell cordovan stuff, no matter how many boots you own, the void you have will not be filled. Seek God. There is actually a TON of evidence for God, that the empiricists never consider, and they won’t even admit their worldview is self refuting as it presupposes a metaphysical reality. Read Isaiah 53, written about 2700 years ago. Just google it. You will be shocked
