    I have a beautiful blue maxima, started out 1 inch in size and is now over 3" in length and color has really started to pop. Growth seems exponential and calcium drain is insane but worth it haha. Nice clams

    I'm looking to get a Derasa from LA Divers Den almost identical to this one. Can you tell me your best acclimation process once receiving the package. I normally do a 15 min temp acclimation, then the drip time for stuff is always where I get so many mixed answers.

    nice vid man... have a question for you.. been dealing with some low ph issues.. alk around 9-10 , calcium 400.... I was thinking of using a half strength Kalk mix for my ato water.. just wanting to make sure the kalk wouldn't raise my calcium so much that it precipitate in my tank... I have a few corals right now.. Duncan,frogspawn and a couple of soft corals.. nothing really calcium dependent like sps... you seem really tuned in to water parameters with reef tanks.. Question is do you think kalk would be a good solution? Keep in mind i don't have windows i can leave open in the house (for fresh air) and i run the top of the tank open with water agitation.. with a skimmer.. so gas exchange is setup for max efficiency ..

    CJ'S AQUARIUMS I checked out the tank and it looks really good. A low dose Kalk solution sounds perfect for what your trying to accomplish. Start with a low dose, check your parameters frequently and make adjustments based on your results. One thing to keep in mind, you really want to keep your ph stable so you'll will want your ATO to run really slow and dose many times a day.

    Thanks for the info.... I'm really wanting to avoid manually maintaining my ph by any method... Was just concerned because my last tank always had ph of 8.0 only diff being a diff house and I had a diff substrate crushed coral aragonite mix... This current tank has the Fiji pink sand. I'm regretting not using the same as before. I do use reef crystals and I checked a fresh batch I mixed after 24 hrs and it had ph of 7.9. My tank was sitting at 7.6 so from what I can tell it hits a high of 7.7 and a low of 7.5. I've tested with a ph prob and test kit. Come up with similar numbers... Corals seem ok but with such low ph I'm wondering if this is a system that can make it for years without corals skeletons dissolving ... I may just add crushed coral to my tank to help buffer it... Any thoughts?

    This days a earned a blue maxima clam and its not opening. All my fish and arrow crabs are very curious abut it. They dont get off of it. Is a clam compatible with crabs?

  • @MileHighReefers

    @MileHighReefers

    3 жыл бұрын

    They are compatible with most reef safe cards although the real answer is it’s possible for any crab to develop a taste for clam. It’s some times difficult to tell if a crab or a fish is picking at the clam because it’s dying or if the crab is cause the problem. I have also had Reef safe fish pick at my clam. Ultimately I had to pull them from the tank

  • @cidneywilliams6304

    hey Scott! I was wondering how you originally put your clams into your tank without exposing them to air. I read that it could cause problems but I also worry about water transfer. Thanks

  • @MileHighReefers

    @MileHighReefers

    7 жыл бұрын

    That is the problem with not taking the clam out of the water you will get some unwanted tank water in the tank. Both f my clams have been out of the water and they didn't suffer from any issues. I'm not really sure how big of a problem it is for a clam to be exposed to the air briefly. In my case the clams have gotten to big for me to move them without exposing them to the air.
