My Emotional Gray Whale Encounter | Baja Mexico
Hey Beans! If you'd like to try Huel V3.0 for yourself, head over to my.huel.com/TRAVELBEANS
In this Mexico travel vlog we continue on our our road trip south, driving across Mexico's Baja Peninsula with our friend Nick (@IndigoTraveller) and our rental car! Our main reason for visiting this region of Mexico was to see the Gray Whales, so we continued our journey down to the San Ignacio Lagoon which is the best place in the world for gray whale watching. We went to Pachico's Eco Tours and this was one of most memorable experiences with a wild animal we have ever had, and we were shocked to find out we could actually touch these incredible, wild animals. We also get to spot some other wildlife along the way such as ospreys, vultures and pelicans.

People like you are always welcome in Mexico. Thanks for the credit to my country and Baja California Sur state; and of course to the friendly Baja Californian people. In some other videos, they didn´t even mention that is in Mexico where the whales spent their nursing time, they are protected because we are committed to keeping and preserving this nature jewel for oncoming generations.
Omg I want to come to Mexico and cuddle whales ❤️😀 love you guys and loving Mexico 👍

Amazing. I took a group of hard-core bikers on a road trip to Cabo. I really had to work hard time convincing them to go see the whales. When we finally got out in the boats and some of the guys got to touch the whales, I actually saw a few of them with tears in their eyes, it's very moving and emotional.
Alex's face was so precious, he looks like a little boy on Christmas morning 😄 what an amazing experience

Sorry for the slightly random comment but I woke up this morning after having a hugely emotional roller coaster day yesterday as my wife gave birth to our first child. I watched your video while having a coffee before going back to the hospital and I sat and cried like a baby. A build up of emotion! Absolutely amazing guys! what an experience that must of been. We always look forward to your videos and Alex always makes us crack up with his sense of humour. Keep up the great work!!

I don't think I could be that brave. I am so happy for them 💓
Pachico's story gave me chills!!
I echo your praise of Pachico's specifically for this whale experience. We were treated with such care when we stayed with them in March this year. They are legit ecotourism operators compared with some of the other options that are newer to the area and not always respecting the community that's been there for generations with stewardship at their heart. Victoria was an amazing guide, Adriana was a great bartender and general resource, and the rest of the team were all fantastic! Glad you all got to have a great experience there like we did. Best vacation of my life so far! Just incredible, and I'm still beaming weeks later.

That’s so great that you visited Pachico’s too! 🙏💛 What a memory! 🥰
THANK YOU for sharing such a great vlog. When I was 17, myself, my Dad and my step family (8 of them) all went to southern California for Christmas. We took a trip to SeaWorld. I needed to just sit as I was not used to so much family energy. I found an empty amphitheater to take a break, a dolphin pitched a ball at me and squawked. I was so thrilled and threw it back to it. We did this about a half dozen times and the trainer came out and said that he was bored and thanked for playing his game. The trainer kindly asked that I stopped and to give him, the trainer, the ball back. I walked to the edge of the pool and said thanks for the great memory. The dolphin clicked and whistled at me. My family did not believe me, but I didn't care - best feeling in the world to be appreciated and recognized.
That was so incredible!!🐳 My favorite animal experience was also in Baja - releasing baby sea turtles🐢♥️
currently at the airport flying to Mexico to enjoy sunshine for a week. Very excited to get on a plane again and get out in the world traveling again. So excited that you got to see the whales. Amazing experience
Yay Beans!!!! So glad you got to have your whale moment 🐋🐋 I love that your fave part of travel is the wildlife, especially seeing how excited Al gets when he sees a bird of prey 🦅

Aw thank you! We love it so much! 😂 We tried to see ospreys on our trip to Scotland last year, and we didn’t realise it would be possible here so that was especially exciting! But nothing can compare to that whale interaction.. we can’t stop talking about it 😂💛
It was great to hear about Pachico and him leading the protest against the salt mining and winning! So important to remember what great things people are capable when we work together. Of course I cried too, when you guys were interacting with the whales, it was so special! As a kid we used to see dolphins very close to us from our little motor boat and once I got the opportunity to touch one that came up right beside me. It wasn't like your experience though, they mostly just wanted to ride our bow waves, but it was so cool watching them having fun!

When Kara and Nate were out the weather and waves were nasty, made it hard to film I bet.
What an amazing experience, a big adventure in our piece of land here in México, I'm so happy you loved it, next time you have to go to Cabo Pulmo too, the comunity there saved the nature of their little town and sea, very interesting place if you like diving. Thaks for visiting Baja California Sur, México!
I watched Kara and Nate’s video yesterday too (long time subscriber and fan of both your channels). Pssst…don’t tell anyone but I preferred yours. I learned a lot more about how the whales are protected and the history of how that interaction with the whales came about, plus all the glimpses of the various birds. It was delightful. And before anyone starts berating me, I loved Kara and Nate’s vlog too. I don’t normally do comparisons as each channel has their strengths.

Your true joy is beautiful to watch, what a wonderful experience to have
Amazing video. What a wonderful experience that will last a lifetime. I worked for a few weeks on an island off the west coast of Scotland. Tractor and trailer was the mode of transport from the house I lodged at to our working station. One glorious evening I decided to forgo the trailer and baled seat to walk over the hills on my return trip. At the very top of the sheer clifftop a Golden Eagle rose a few feet away from me and as it passed above me I could hear the effortless, airbrush motion of its wings. I turned my head in awe as it soared away without a second glance at me. A treasured moment. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Great film. Alex's reaction to seeing the Osprey reflected mine when I first went to Portugal and started seeing Storks everywhere. Thought I'd entered Jurassic Park. I'm so glad to see something positive coming out of Mexico. All the news has covered over the last decade is drug wars and mass killings. It's encouraging to see the Baja developing some amazing tourist attractions.

Many of your compatriots have made the same trip down to that place to see the grey whales. It's almost a life-changing experience when they come up to the boat so you can make contact. Sorry you got sick on the boat Emma. The whale was just telling you,,,"it's ok I'm here for you so be happy". Fantastic episode guys. 2 thumbs up.

Awesome experience being that close to animal that size with so much to offer
Wow, y'all had me in tears. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
The Osprey, Vultures and Pelicans just arrived to my area to spend the Spring & Summer here before leaving in the Fall. The Gray Whales pass our coast going up to Alaska before heading back down to Baja to have their babies. I have been on Whale watching boats here but they are migrating so you can’t get right up to them and touch them. Love the place you stayed at - worth the $$ as they seem very eco minded and careful around the whales. Awesome vlog this week 🐳
I love Mexico.

This was just incredible. Once In a lifetime to see those whales. We're up there with you on travel sickness Emma, ferries and boats are the worst!
Two of the best travel channels doing vids together, dig it
I was in Benalmadena, Spain, numerous times. They have a very beautiful marina, and for 10 euros you can go on a boat trip out into the sea (Mediterranean) and see dolphins in the wild. They actually get close to the boat and swim in front of it or along the side. That was the special moment for me, seeing real wild dolphins. There was a dolphin mum with a baby ^_^
Wow! Thank you for sharing this little bit of your life with us!
Nice share. Interesting to watch. Keep up the good work.

My wife has long suffered from motion sickness. The most amazing product we have used to beat it is called "Kwells." Our daughter first found it in Australia (the tour operators taking folks out to see the Great Barrier Reef recommended), and she brought some back with her. Because the active (and effective) ingredient is disfavored in many countries, it can be a bit hard to find. But if you run across any, buy all you can afford to stock up. It really is a miracle for folks like my wife (and Emma).

Even though I lived on a boat for 5 years, I would still get seasick at times. Mint is your best chance at not getting sick. Either breath drops like Bianca, mint gum or mint candies. Also, pretzels are good when you’re queasy. Love your channel. 🇺🇸🌵❤️
When I was fishing off the old Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys, I had a green sea turtle surface right in front of me. And while in the Oconaluftee section of Smokey Mountains National Park, a full herd of elk crossed right in front of my car. Those were the two most powerful (positive) interactions I've had with wildlife.
Just beautiful, thank you so much for sharing.
Did the same trip myself quite a few years ago. It is difficult to describe the magical connection one feels with them at the time. Exhilarating, grateful, amazed, none seem to fit and yet they all do. Obviously, I loved the experience. Keep them coming .
What a beautiful experience! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

This was amazing! The whales were so nice I cried too.. 👌👍
Indigo traveller is normally going to more crazy locations. This seems basic for him but love to see you guys collaborating.
Fifty years ago, on the Oregon Coast, I climbed down on some rocks next to the water, where two grey whales were scraping barnacles off. I couldn't touch them like you did, but I could smell their breath and I am sure they knew I was there. It was pretty special. They have since fenced those rocks off, to prevent people being washed away by the waves (I was there on a very calm day).

Spent 8 weeks travelling across Africa and had an amazing experience but two were extra special. First was watching a single lioness hunt a zebra for 45 minutes only for her to fail and walk past our lorry. The second was to watch a baby hyena come out of its den with its mum on the ngorogoro crater and only being a couple of weeks old . Fortunately managed to photograph both experiences . Absolutely love your videos ❤️
