That LP "It Happened At The World's Fair" was most likely pressed at another plant, possibly one of their presses were down, or the die broken during production, or another stamper was made elsewhere. The same presses that were used in Indianapolis in 1963 were still being used in 1977 the only differences being the labels and the die that holds the stampers, Those grooves that you see in that LP are just one of the many variations of stampers that were used in the presses in the 60's throughout the 70's depending of which pressing plant that was used. Being that Stamper has the "1S / 1S" tells me it was from an early 1963 stamper that was outsourced for another plant. It is not possible for a 1S/1S stamper to have been used as a reissue in the 70's. To have a 1963 "cover" a 1963 "Inner sleeve" and a 1963 "1S stamper" all in the same LP set meant for retail isn't feasible. The odds would be astronomically impossible, and would only have had to been done as a one-off by an employee such as the red LOC-1035 was done in '57 by comparison.

Makes sense. It's remarkable how similar it is to the '77 pressings, though, and I've never come across anything like it with other early albums. I know a lot of Beatles records in the UK were outsourced to other plants to keep up with demand but I've no idea how often it occurred in the US with Elvis' records. Thanks for your comment.

From Dave in NYC, hi back atcha Dave in JAPAN! Many Thx for the shout-out! It was My pleasure! The personally signed 45 you sent me, has a Proud place in my vast King collection! ThankYa, ThankYaVeryMuch!! You forgot to mention that you also needed Double Trouble. Have no fear, you'll have all 4 sooner, rather than later ;) Just make sure you dig up a copy of the gold vinyl (along with others) to have ready for trade! ;);) As for the Worlds Fair raised label, we werent able to find anything of note on it Just seems to be the std/normal release for that LP. Coincidentally, we have the same pressing & label on our site! While watching this vid, I noticed you were too humble to mention that You were the one who translated the Aloha book into English! On behalf of English speaking E Fans worldwide, Thank You!! Looks like you have another winner! Keeping ELVIS King in the USA...as you're doing in Japan! Keep up the Great work & Rock On! D2D

Hi David nice video and well done on the Aloha book. I really enjoyed it. My understanding on those deep groove records is maybe an opposite spin in that it’s a trait of earlier pressing machines from the 50’s that did still get used and ran into the sixties. With lack of information we always have to do some guess work, but with deep groove being older machinery (I’m positive on that point) it could be factories ran them when busy to help meet production runs. Regards, Adam

Hi Adam. I'm glad you like the Aloha book. Of course, the photos are the real stars of the show, but I was glad to be a part of the project. With the World's Fair LP, maybe I didn't explain it well in the video, but it's not actually a deep-groove record. The outside is raised, just like some of those 1977 black label pressings (e.g. Double Trouble that I showed). It doesn't have a groove at all near the outside. Still a mystery. Cheers, Adam.

Many of the stereo covers were not changed until 1977 or later when they converted to APL or AFL catalog numbers, so your Girls Girls Girls is typical. On the other hand, some record covers were changed in subtle and not so subtle ways before the catalog number changes took place. I think your World's Fair is a pre 1964 pressing. The vinyl anomaly may be rare but not unique to that title. My collection was stolen back in the 1980s. I did have every LP in first pressing and some with a few variants. All of mine from Elvis Is Back up were stereo (unless mono was the only choice like some Camdens etc) I had the very rare Roustabout in Silver top STEREO label with the large Nipper, which was replaced by the White top stereo small Nipper within a week or two. I also had the corresponding MONO version which was replaced by the Monaural label. I had both the 1957 (dark red covers, silver letters on spine) and the 1958 (orange-red cover with gold letters on spine) LOC-1035. I had several variants of LPM-1382 with the back cover having liner note covering the entire back, one with the liner notes making room for advertised RCA LPs, but left blank in that area, and 3 or 4 versions of those advertised LPs. I had all the inserts and booklets. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. STOLEN! Sony's recent The Album Collection CD box set recalls many memories of my collection.

Sorry to learn that your collection was stolen. That must have been heartbreaking. The consensus on my World's Fair LP seems to be that it is, indeed, an original from 1963 which is fine by me. Sounds like you've picked up quite a few rarities over the years. Those versions probably rarely turn up in Japan. Thanks for watching.

Hi Dave ,great video ,interesting ref your copy of ,worlds fair ,it looked a 1963 copy to me if not a first pressing defo an early sixties copy ,great to have the original inner sleeve as well ,the 70s copy looked a 70s copy even on the video and being thousands of miles away ,could the 60s copy have pressed in a different location with different pressing machines ,although as you’ll probably know the UK EPs of the 50s and 60s have reissues with period sleeves ,they’ve used these up to move on stock levels ,am like you am not fussed on getting original copies ,period release or later ones are fine ,although ad love an original copy of the Xmas album,a have a copy of the one you featured ,US copy it’s great ,am busy adding to me Camden and international pressing UK ,av noticed the price of these Dave increasing when buying them some of the prices sellers are asking are eye watering ,Ref the US pressing finding mono copies of the 50s albums is difficult ,in decent condition anyway ,most I see are stereo ,re - processed,a don’t mind those I would buy them but like you ad prefer mono ,fab video Dave ,take care ,tony 🎸🎶

Hi Tony. It is definitely a strange copy. Another viewer has said it could have been pressed at another place which is logical. I'm surprised to hear that Camden and International pressings are rising in value. The UK covers look nice with their laminated front covers but they're hardly rare. I see them for sale occasionally here in Japan. I also see the Christmas Album (LOC-1035) here quite a lot, but shops usually ask around $200.00 for even a beat-up copy. One day, a decent one will turn up for a decent price. Cheers, Tony.

Hello. I just want to say that it would be truly impossible for your “World’s Fair” record to have been pressed as late as 1977 due mostly to label design, but also for the fact that your record is most assuredly the rigid vinyl style and not flexible. In 1977, “World’s Fair” was finally reissued just after Elvis’ passing, bearing an APL1 number prefix. The ridge on the labels that you’ve shown us is also known to exist on other RCA Victor titles and its origin is unknown. Happy collecting!

I think it’s entirely possible that a record from 1963 was pressed with the same labels and covers in 1977. All of the covers and labels were obviously stockpiled because they were printed at a time/volume of optimal cheapness. My 1976 copy of Elvis For Everyone has a 1965 cover.

It’s the chase. 😀 I always love to see your Elvis records, whatever they are. So far I have been unable to acquire a US Pot Luck. I do envy that. I like the way that you are not trying to get perfect records- one good example. Fine philosophy. Interestingly, I have a 1976 copy of Spinout and the B side label has no text.
