Fascinating. I was born and bred in Devizes. We lived above what is now Greggs in the Market Place. So many places I recognised, now under different names. Now live in Australia ... a different world.

Raised most my childhood in Devizes also. Lived above the fishing tackle shop in Sidmouth st in the 80’s. I live in Australia now myself too.

That 360 cam was almost hypnotisingly smooth, I thoght it was low flying drone footage at first. Well Done!

I liked the "boring red brick bits". Very clean & tidy. Looked at estate listings for the area: 800k for a detached house. Probably one of the cheaper ones. Hate to think what the ones backing on the canal cost.

I like the narrated version better, you have a smooth voice for an older person Matthew. I love the ancient feel of the small old world towns!

Wow a grumpy you, so this ws you on a good day! Loved the video and great to wind down too. Used to drive round devizes twice a week on my way to South Wales. I am disappointed that in all that time I was oblivious to Caen Hill with the 21 locks on the canal. The speed of the video worked well on the scooter, the same with cycling in that there is enough change happening to keep interest.

I used to live near Trowbridge and frequently had to drive through Devizes for my work...... Most of your route, I didn't recognise at all. This was a marvellous movie and narration.

Yes the old town hall was also known for the clock house laundry, and later in the cellars lord john's disco

the castle is the most interesting part I feel. the original structure was built in 1080 but burnt down in 1113. interestingly it was used as a prison by Henry II and Henry III even William the conquerers son Robert curthose was imprisoned here for 20 years. so this castle has a ton of history to it.

Thank you for making this video. Absolutely stunning old architecture around the beautiful city centre:-). It is such a shame that the Local Council, is behaving the way they are, fleecing the people… I still find it unbelievable, that you have to pay to park your car, to shop at Sainsbury’s! Fantastic film of Devizes. You went near to where I live, my work and I even seen where my car is parked. Love Devizes and yes the town has alot of charity shops but the history is brilliant.

Yes, kept me interested till the end. Have passed through Devizes several times and did not realise was that big. What's happening there is the same in towns in Norfolk, banks closing, every other shop a charity one, rip off parking. Catering for rich visitors.

Timely, went to Devizes today, lucky free parking day outside the Mon to Sat roadside restrictions, not as many empty shops as other local towns, but a hell of a lot closed for a Sunday just after lunch.

Very interesting Matt. My daughter used to live in the area - first out in West Lavington, then into Devizes itself, there they had an apartment in what I think used to be the old mental hospital, got converted into apartments years ago now. Nice to see all the areas I never got a chance to see when visiting the family. They have moved out of the area now, so do not visit the area anymore. But yeah, very interesting little tour.
