Before all the cruise ships bought up the land on the docks the new huge shops are on, there was nothing was in walking distance other then a few own local shops. When the cruise season is over, all the shops close down except the locals... I use to live in the upper part of the brown apartment ( 2:55 )

I used to come here every 2-3 weeks when i used to work in the Misty Fjords and this brought back so many memories. Thank you. Wish you were there during the lumberjack Olympics as we used to call it.

Lived there for 10 years. A great place to visit. When I need a little island fix, I enjoy watching others vacation vid's. It helps me to be reminded of the positive aspects since actually living there is quite different. Thank you.

I lived in Ketchikan for several months in 1989. I have some great memories of fun times in that town (I’m thinking of you, Sharon). I’m sure a lot has changed. I see that at least a few things are the same.

I lived in one of those houses you filmed at :22 at the time of your video. That’s so crazy! The town is beautiful, but it rains almost every day. Very cold rain. We were there for a few months for an out of town job. I forgot to add, the local footwear were Xtratufs. 😁

They do improve the economy for sure, but its still a functioning city that made off well enough before cruise ship lines found out about it. Still, glad people enjoyed it. Pretty city indeed.

I bet the locals do get tired of having to navigate streets and sidewalks full of tourists all the time. Even if you don't have a cruise ship docked, you could drive into town and tell it's a cruise ship port just by all the shops lined up one after another.

Jody when i used to live their as a kid i remember counting about 8 total stoplights on the island and when the cruise ships would come it was a hassle to drive across town since their arent too many shortcuts on the island. as a kid my favorite places was this ice cream shop right next to the docks and this bagel shop right up the hill from the sears store downtown.

The problem is it's just a ugly shopping mall with nice mountains in the back ground. The only reason this is even a town was to get supplies to go for the Gold, and only gold. The rest is pathetic. On the East Coast we have Cathedrals and cost nothing to see.
