Matt, I hear you on becoming part of the culture and heritage. And that’s nice- especially if you have a really good local dealer to support you. I wish we had someone like you as our dealer in Florida. Our local stealership has me so frustrated with botched warranty work that I’m ready to run my shit into the mangroves at 70mph just to total it out with insurance. At this point, I’m never going to buy another new bike because there’s no point when the local dealer sucks.

Excellent view of a USA bike show a little different to the ones here,was in London for the 115th anniversary,10 bikes at the most IN LONDON FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!!!

Nice event. Also nice to see no MC's showing their colors and causing trouble. Absolutely love the old bikes!

That old brass and rust color knucklehead was the baddest bike I seen.

The Harley “Adventure “ bike was certainly different from anything else. Thanks for sharing.

This event kicks maximum ass for sure!....I love being a part of such an epic legacy, I just wish an hope on day I can actually attend something like this...living in Pennsylvania on a limited budget keeps me from it, bit at least I own a 13 fatboy lo!...God bless brother

Matt, you are so right. If it wasn't for H-D, any event/show/rally/etc. would not even be anything since a very high percentage are H-D's. Never really thought of it that way until you mentioned that point now and I've been riding a long time.

Ahhh...your buddy kept his mirrors on the wing instead of on the bars with the different bars. It does work!

My favorite bike this year was a beautiful crushed ice pearl Street Glide I saw on the grass parking! 😉 😉

Matt Laidlaw I enjoy your videos and I would like to ride with you on one of your local southern California Rally Rides. I live in Victorville and ride a 2010 Ultra Classic Electric Glide 96 c.i. I sure enjoyed riding my Harley Davidson and always adding more accessories are upgrade. I been riding motorcycle since I were in high school in the 1969. Plus that the year I got drafted to Vietnam War. Always had a motorcycle and a new car during my years in the U.S.Army.

Great video Matt. Bummed I had to miss the show this year. Coming to see you guys Sat. Looking at trading into a fat bob.

a factory adventure bike would be nice

Would you consider reviewing a new 2019 Street Glide? On KZread I can only find videos about Street Glide Specials or Street Glide CVO's. I would like to learn about a regular stock from the factory, working man's Street Glide. Not the more expensive models. Anyway, I would get the least expensive one and then modify it to my liking, not someone else's. Thanks for showing us around the cool sites and motorcycle gatherings. They are fun to watch!

Excellent Vlog Matt. I really enjoy the spotlight that you shine on some of the Southern California bike shows and some of the cool hangouts where those who ride can go to. Would you know the best way to get down to your dealership from San Francisco that would help avoid the dreaded Southern California traffic? Me and a buddy want to ride down and see your shop but want to avoid as much traffic as possible. Thanks again Matt.

The fastest is just going down the 5 freeway then taking the 210 or 10. Go on a Sunday. Traffic is going to be bad any day unless it's the middle of the night.

Born Free looks like a great show, but if you really feel only Harleys make great customs, I would say you're sadly mistaken. I've seen many killer metric custom builds as well. I understand your bias toward Harley, but how about acknowledging there are other fine bikes out there in this big old world as well. Still love your vids!

I have enjoyed a lot of motorcycles over the years. I just happen to sell Harley Davidsons and my channel is a HD channel.

Matt in sturgis you will fit right in with us with the t shirt and shorts lol...thanks for the video for us non SoCal riders....Matt no product out there gives you the ownership experience and events Harley’s gives you !!’ I have never seen 300k Chev, Porsche Nikon Rolex Mac owners meet in a small town for a week of fun and enjoyment of their product ....have you ??

In the end of the video when you leave the born free event there was a softail deluxe parked next to you that was built by Reeds Hotrods. He builds some badass hotrods and bikes!

It’s a Genuine H-D vest. You could buy at any dealer. I don’t think it’s sold anymore though.

I also remembered, whilst sleeping that you did a video on the new HD Bluetooth headset, and then had a flash back this morning that you were using it in this video. With Bluetooth you don’t need the phone nearby, which means less cluttered on your handle bars and less chance of being stopped by the Police for using a mobile phone whilst riding. Save riding.

Curious if you had a personal favourite bike from the event or maybe top 3?

The fxr involvement in the show is relatively recent as is the major push from Harley with their new models ... Its not my thing at all. Born Free started out as a home built vintage chopper show and in the last few years it's lost its way . It was a place for the folks that had a passion for choppers and the easy laid back style that went with it . The event was free , the beer was free ... The bike draw seemed relatively random lol ,well that all seemed to get sidestepped in favour of a larger take at the event cashbox . There used to be a swap meet ... Now its fxr junk, they used to let a bunch of groovy folks in with their vintage boogie vans and inexplicably stopped them even though the space they occupied is empty , parking and gate was free now both cost money ! What once seemed like a dedicated counter culture thing has gone a lot more mainstream .... And that's too bad I'm not unaware that events cost money to run and that as thing move forward they change but I think the folks that made the event what it was wish it was back to the smaller honest show it was . I will say I do like the 2 days rather than the one day that it was ... More time to relax and meet people

You talk about the "culture" it is really owning a HD but at 9:10 it just hit me seeing those bikes lined up those big baggers like yours is a Clydesdale and those dynas are like mustangs and sportster are like ponies
