I notice that every time I wear my natural hair my family and friends tell me to tie up my hair or brush it because I guess curly hair looks “unprofessional” anyways. I wanna get my curly hair back, it’s a bit damage and I love curly hair so I don’t care what anyone says, I’m gonna rock my natural hair.
@alocasia2610

it’s been awhile since you commented this but i have wavy hair and it’s naturally voluminous and my family always told me to brush it and stuff because it looks “ratty” or “scraggly” so i can really relate to this. annoying that anything but pin straight or defined curling iron curls is messy to some.
@taylors5981
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Nobody has told me, but sometimes in my head I wonder if my hair looks too "messy" or "unprofessional" for work, but I REFUSE to damage my hair any longer with the hot iron. My hair has broken off to the point I can't even make a pony tail look decent so quite frankly I don't really care if my natural hair looks unkempt and unruly... It's still better than having damaged hair
Holy shit you have the most gorgeous hair I’ve ever seen.

Oh. My. Lord. That is the most GORGEOUS set of curls I've ever seen! Everything about it is straight outta heaven. The cut, colour, movement! I can't even focus on what you're saying because of those buttery curls! 😍😍 I didn't even know it was possible for naturals to eliminate frizz 100%. And you can tell its virgin, non heat styled because of how healthy it looks. Not silicone shine but richer somehow. I'm also generally envious of those with lighter natural hair colour for curls because the light bounces off the curves. Thankyou for sharing your journey and your perfect hair. I'm so happy that this is naturally possible for someone.
not gonna lie this hair is the most beautiful I have ever seen on a person ❤️

“I am enough just the way God created me.” Yes! That brought tears to my eyes. So many of us struggle with self-acceptance. Your hair is stunning (color and curls)-and in this video it looks very curly. I started the CGM when lockdown began in March. I have been tempted to give up, but your videos encourage me.
I like the overall video, I think it’s important though to highlight that not everyone’s hair will transform from 2a to 2c. It can improve the health of your hair but it will not make your curls tighter if that is not your natural pattern that grows out of your head. Sometimes we have to learn to love what we have and not focus on what we aspire to have especially if the aspirations are unrealistic.
Remember Goldilocks from Goldilocks and the three bears? This is her now
Even in her so called "damaged" hair pictures her hair still looked beautiful.

Im literally crying watching this bc I hated my hair so much, it's super thick, high porosity, and wavy. When i was little it was ringlets and red, i loved it! I destroyed it :( I just started my journey with an 8in chop off of the old color and damage and I washed it and woke up with gorgeous chunky curls!!!!! Woah! Now I need to learn how to care for it :) thank you for doing this video. Our hair is the same :)

Courtney, excellent story. I stopped shampoo in 2001, Curly Girl book was (is) my bible and have had kept my 3a curls at 18-20 inches for the last 10+ years - what joy! Recently I had to cut off about 14 inches of bleach damage and now I need to learn my whole head's curl pattern as short hair! It;s like learning to walk again, sorry to be so dramatic. This too shall pass. Thank you for showing us your journey in a humble, forthright manner, so educational!

I’m watching this video months after you posted it & i literally just paused at 7:09 & bought the curly girl method on amazon. i’d hear about it about a year ago and stopped using sulphates/silicones after researching a bit, but i never really dove into it and watching this makes me want to see how much curl i can get out of my hair! same as you, my hair was very curly as a little girl but i damaged it for so many years with heat and bleaching. i’m super grateful that there is a community out there for wavy/curly girls & im super excited to really start this journey with my hair. thank you for posting this 🧡

Still love watching this every once in a while. I found you in January 2021 and my hair has evolved along with you! I get so many compliments on my hair now thanks to all your tips. Pin straight hair girl here, just wanted to say how gorgeous your hair is! My mom has your hair type and she straightens it, making it look very frizzy... I sent her a link to the book so hopefully she gets the hint! Her natural hair is so gorgeous, her hair is so thick/textured it looks really bad straightened. Thank you! Your channel is full of amazing advice! I’m trying to get back my curls. I’ve been convinced for last 10 years that they are gone, but they are starting to show! This is absolutely exciting time for me. You’ve been more than helpful and I’m incredibly thankful that you took all this time to make your videos. No one ever told me all this stuff! My mom has completely straight hair, and I inherited mine from my dad who was bolding since I remember 😆 I also have incredibly fine hair, I thought it’s just me. The fact that you are so positive and just your unique self makes watching these videos so much fun ❤️❤️❤️
my hair was curly when i was little too and i’d had it really short until i was about 10 and started realizing it was wavy and was brushing it out realizing it was just poofy; but when it was wet i’d noticed it was wavy, so a few years ago i tried curl products and wavy products and it worked okay but just recently its turned to almost 3a when i started using a curling gel and cream and i’m so happy to say i’m starting my curly girl journey!! 💗
I was born with ringlets and hated them when I was a little girl, but now my hair has relaxed to wavy as I've gotten older. I did not use heat much nor straightened it often. Must just be age since it's not heat damage and I've been doing the Curly Girl Method for years. I am very disappointed and miss my "Shirley Temple" curls. (for all the young people, Shirley was a cute little actress with adorable curls). Sigh. We hate what we have then miss it when we lose it.
I love your message about self acceptance ❤️ this was a joy to watch and I have straight hair!

Love your journey. Tfs your story. I'm 6 months in and still working at it. Gave me hope as there's a few more things to try including diffusing. Funny but I like your curls better than the ones on the cover of the book. Yep yep we gotta love what God gave us! 😘
Your hair is so ridiculously shiny and frizz-free omg. Also, maybe I'm feeling extra emotional tonight, but your speech about the CGM teaching self-acceptance got me a bit teary-eyed. My one year anniversary for going CG is this week, and I've still got a lot to learn. I'm slow to try new products and techniques because I want to be really thorough before deciding that something doesn't work for me. Lately I just can't seem to figure out if my hair wants to be waves or loose curls, because it seems to flip-flop daily. I actually never owned a hair dryer before going CG, but I discovered that diffusing gives me much tighter curl definition, so that was a recent major breakthrough in my curl journey. Also, I don''t have to wait for my hair to air dry for six hours, so win-win.

Amanda Sain Yeay for diffusing! I actually choose to diffuse my hair everytime I style because I like the result it gives. I’m so humbled my story touched you! You are so kind. And don’t worry about your changing curl pattern. Mine does that too! Depending on the weather, which products I used, and how the stars are lining up (jk) it will curl up differently.
Beautiful hair. Beautiful person. Thank you for sharing. My granddaughter needs this so I will pass it along.
Thank you, Courtney! I just found out about "curly girl" a few days ago. You are so pleasant, fun, and informative! I watched many of your videos, and several by others, and you are amazing! Your hair has an amazing curl!
Wow your hair looks so shiny and healthy, gorgeous 😍 Barely wavy?! 2b to 2C Curls are CURLS I also experienced loving and accepting myself making the curly girl journey, my hair routine is now part of my self care
Thank you for the commentary on high porosity hair & damaged hair. For years stylists have said how “damaged” my hair is, but then I did a pixie cut, got rid of all color and potential damage, and my hair was still dry / high porosity, with a ton of baby hairs that look like “breakage” to stylists. It took me years to figure out this was just my hair type and texture!
You’re hair is absolutely perfect
