I have about 18 copic markers. I start brought it 12 color individually. it was recommend by jazza in jazza's recommend set. I love the Es color.

Nelson Ong that's a good set he recommended. People underestimate what a good set of greys can do. They just go for the colors.

+Tommy Ohlrich yea... I usually use the Grey tone for shading and increase the darkness of certain color. I only have the 4 grey which is from the set. im keep adding more color but not the dark tone since I can use grey.

Using a grisaille or grey under drawing is a great way to define shadow and depth. Leaving you free to focus on picking colors and even coverage.

Hi Valerie! I wanted to let you know that you have taught my daughter so much about drawing! She has been surprising us with her drawings since before she was 2. We've tried out some different art classes but there isn't much available to us and she hasn't been too impressed with what we've tried. Then she found your youtube channel and her drawings and her knowledge has exploded. So, thank you! She's now 9 years old and has reached the point that she knows much more than we do about drawing and all the materials she needs. She spends most of her afternoons after school drawing. She loves pencil drawing most and draws from tutorials and on her own, including animals and anime. Her birthday is coming up and I was hoping you could help me understand some of the basics that would be good for her to have. (She's been drawing with regular pencils on printer paper for 8 years, so we need help). I feel completely clueless about what paper and pencils to get. She's also been wanting an ink pen(?) and now is asking for copic markers (which you can imagine my shock at looking up those prices :). Where should I start with her? Any info would be appreciated! This the best and most informative video I have seen when considering which Copics to buy next. If you get more colors, you should totally do an updated one! :)

I never get tired of Copic videos. I just found your channel, and your personality is so very refreshing!! I just happened to find this while I was reorganizing my markers - I am at the point now where I am concentrating more on refills. I counted them all and at the current time I have 285 markers. Some are duplicates, but mostly I have some colors that I originally bought as a Ciao and switched to Sketch. But again...as you said, back ups never hurt. On the uncomfortable side, I decided to add up what I have spent so far...and it IS frightening.. . .isn't it! lol...God Bless!

I love these videos. I have about half the Copic Markers available. Stopped collecting during the shortage though. I'm working on finishing out my watercolor palette during this sad time since I like using the two mediums together :) it gives a really nice effect and I enjoy switching it out with each other.

Absolutely LOVED this video!! Thank you SO much for taking the time to put this together with such detail. I have been using Copic Sketch markers for several years and really love what they can do but have been using limited colors. Would love to add more to my collection. Do you find that storing them vertically keeps them moist? I store mine horizontally just because I'm afraid they would dry out....

Sandy Allnock's Copic Hex Chart is a great resource. It's $5 but I love it. Best chart for colouring out your collection. :)

I love watching copic marker videos even tho I don't have any markers, I actually prefer to use color pencils but I'm starting to get interested in markers I'm thinking on looking into a cheaper alternative to start practicing and see if I actually enjoy it

Omgosh this video made me want to buy more markers! no 😆 I thought I was happy with what I had lol 😅 I've moved more into watercolor but the copic addiction is real and never fades 😆 some of these colors look amazing totally taking notes. I can relate when you mentioned the colors are so close you wish you had bought a different one. I have a few like that too it sucks when your buying them one by one and one ends up unused but it's good for times when one is dry and you still have a back up :D

A copic hex chart is a good investment if you are serious about copics. It is a chart that displays all the copic colors but in a way that puts the ones that are similar together. (Look it up cuz I'm not the best at explaining it.) It is, I think, around 5 us dollars which is not bad and if you want to avoid getting the ones that are similar colors you can get this chart and not get the colors that are right next to each other. It's easier to see the colors that go together with this one because they go by color and not family. If you'll notice in the video she said BG10 was similar to G00. The hex chart displays them right next to each other because they are similar.

Its so weird how when you look at all your copics it looks like you have SO many but then when you look at the chart youre like oh

OMG, I love Copics and have an addiction too. I currently have #190 and hoping to get most if not all of them, eventually. Lol. However, some shades are *SO* similar that I may skip a couple?

I just have a ton of different things I use for markers and I'm just wondering what other people use. Anything from hotpress illustration board, or heavyweight watercolor paper (hotpress as well) to that crazy rendr paper. I've never actually tried that blending card though, the kind copic sells. I've noticed that you get different amounts of bleed and smear as well as different amounts of pilling depending on which you use.

Wow, this is amazingly helpful. And entertaining to watch. I have a question. So, I've been wanting to get some colic markers, but how should I start? And also, I'm a bit confused on how they work, since I'm terrible with shading and highlights and have no idea where to place shadows :o When you blend the markers, do they ruin the tips? Like, do you get other colors mixed into the marker tips like with crayola markers?

Lps ElsaCat go online. And buy one of those bundled three backs they sell. They're complimentary colors and are paired to blend well together. Then just mess around with them.

your collection is quite thought through xD I mean, you've got shades that are side by side on the chart...meanwhile I used to get 6pc sets until I got most of them (because of the shortage, I can't get the earth tones) and now I buy separates, but I only buy the colors in like how they look and I don't really think through getting 2 similiar shades instead of polar opposites. 😅 My chart ends up having colors all over the place...also, I've been waiting for my e00 marker refill for three months and because of the shortage I haven't gotten my most used marker :/

Bougainvillea....is a bright flower, usually Fuschia. Which I wonder why it is such a light pink marker color. Anyhow, it is usually pronounced in the U.S. as BOW-gan-VILLA
