Thank you for the video, really interesting. In my case I've been studying Japanese three months ago, and it's my only interest, however your videos are really helping me, because I'd like to learn Chinese and Korean in the future, and with your videos I can have a basis of the characters that each language share, so thank you for the effort ;)

I totally get you about structure and results oriented vs process oriented goals. I like your mindset, I was only recently able to make that shift. I think if you already know various principles about language learning you already know what to do and can fill the time you allocate for language learning with those activities. I think that's enough and in many situations a much more healthy and effective approach than to have strict result oriented goals. Start doing the things and see how it goes, gain experience and re-strategize if needed. We know some but we don't know everything, it's not possible to plan exactly how we're going to get to the desired level until we, well, get there and look back. There are so many variables and unknowns to deal with. I like your approach and infact it puts me at ease thinking I can participate in the challenge this way as well. But rn I'm just doing Korean and French very casually and waiting to see how some things in life wil turn out before I really "go at it" for the CJK challenge. Biblical Greek and biblical Hebrew will highly likely be a bigger priority for me during the 2024/2025 school year. I love this though, I'm so excited. Perhaps I can do it at a slow pace between May and September and just see how it goes.

I am not in the CJK challenge, but I definitely do a linguistic workout: japanese, Latin, Ancient Greek, Hungarian, French and sometimes a bit of ukrainian. Do I count english not being my native language, even though I watch videos and read in it every single day? I don't have a schedule on them(yet) since I am doing my finals on university, but sooner than later, I will! Good luck on your CJK challenge, I am eager to hear more updates on it!

Did you learn Latin and Ancient Greek by yourself? If so, what books or online courses did you take? Thaaaanks

@@alejandrorey2322 For Latin and Ancient Greek, I am focusing more on the vocab aspect. It is good to also learn some grammar, but aside to learning how the verb, adjectives, and nouns work, there is nothing much useful to learn on the beginning. There is a browser add-on called alpheios that show to you all the grammar and tables one can possibly want for both languages. For vocab, There is the three comenius' books: orbis pictus, vestibulum and janua lingua reserata. All of them are in Ancient Greek and Latin. This should give you enough to learn both languages. You can also learn from "lingua latina per se illustrata" for latin and "Athenaze" for ancient Greek. A word of warning: going into those books with zero grammar under your belt will be difficult. Read the basics first: how nouns, verbs and adjectives work and their paradigms.

@@alejandrorey2322 @Fisico gamer Interestingly, I also study Latin and some Greek out of interest. I've finished book 1 (Familia Romana) of Lingua Latina per se Illustrata with teachers but book 2 (Roma Aeterna) is rather challenging for me. If you're interested, I take (very affordable) Conversational Latin classes with the renowned polyglot Prof. Alexander Arguelles (www.alexanderarguelles.com/academy/). Oxford Latinitas also offers very good classes on Latin and Ancient Greek (www.oxfordlatinitas.org/)

For classical Chinese in my university we used 《古代漢語》by 王力 as a textbook.I don't know if you have read that book too, but it's considered one of the more advanced and difficult books for learning classical Chinese. What is your major btw?

I'm a philosophy major mainly working on early Chinese intellectual history! I started with Harold Shadick's "A First Course in Literary Chinese", but I'm planning to work through 《古代漢語》 on my own. If there's enough interest, maybe I should do it as some sort of livestream? Since Classical Chinese content is quite niche in the English-speaking world, it might be useful for those of you who are interested

@@808CJK That would be awesome if you could do some videos on Classical Chinese.Especially if it's focused on the grammar and vocabulary it would very helpful for us.You could also make videos explaining the core concepts in East Asian philosophy such as 道,仁, 义,礼 etc for a broader audience. That would be more interesting.
