Thanks so much for sharing your journey at FZD! It's so cool getting a glimpse into what they expect of you and realistically the workload you're having to tackle. Always look forward to new updates! ALSO YOUR ROOM IS SO COOL! I love the tiny Undertale pupper. lol

I don’t think you understand how incredibly helpful this is. Gives a bass idea for the quality and type of pieces I should have for my portfolio. Since I don’t have any concept art courses in my game dev degree, this is huge

Awesome video and glimpse inside the life, journey and assigments one has on FZD! Some suggestions, if I may: 1) Don't do the QnA section inside the Term 3 video, do a separate video just for the QnA, that way people can ask aditional quetions that might just arise after watching the Term 3 video and get those answered on the QnA. 2) Something that I think is nowher on youtube to be found is istructions on how to do Design Ideation. Specifically how to make those Brainstorming / Design Ideation pages you show. So teaching that on a personal project of your could be an awesome video where you teach us and show clients what you bring to the table, too. Great content for youtube and great promotion for yourself as a professional, too. Maybe Kingston could go over that process, too. It's awesome to learn from your videos. I hope you can schedule time for these with you new mages comitments. Keep 'em coming!
@niatora

That’s a good point! Yes I was thinking maybe a separate video would be better since the Term 3 one would already be quite long 😂 For sure can expand on that process in a future video. Thanks for the support! ✨
I was really looking forward to this! It's great to see your design thinking as the project progresses from sketch, blender, and to paint over. I'm glad you shared that the value isn't in pretty pictures but solutions and problem-solving. Not enough people think of it that way. Thank you for sharing your FZD experience!

Hey Nia, your final words enlightened me. It has been very tough for anyone desiring to pursuit a creative career indeed. I also do feel social media more harms than helps, and since I was struggling with FOMO, this made me decide to pull away from online activities for a while. It took me months to realize the "frenetic online rhythm". It's terrible for us as artists. Also, Take your time with youtube videos, we know how stressful it can be !! Stay safe! 😉

LOL trust I literally had zero sleep as well 😂
I've been learing illistration for almost 3 years and I got risinsing interest to concept art and thanks to yours video I understood that I was always trying to do concept art since I started because I don't like copying from reference and i want to have control over everything that goes into my illustration, the contens you upload are really useful thank you! 10:30 I love japanese culture and architecture, and this sketch is so inspiring that i started thinking how I would modify the 3d model (I would have loved to see the version of it where the file did not crush, this ideas are mainly compistion, proportion and illustration related changes that would make more cinematic, at least i think): About Lighting I would put a bright light only on the circle where the empress sits while the latenterns add a soft warm (red/orange) light and a blue room light coming from the smoke on the sides (where those flowers sits) Composition The circle with the stairs on sides is too small. The stairs leading to the throne with the tigers are too straight and to solve this I would add a semicircle under them (or make bigger the flower shaped floor you put on sides) so that the tigers and stairs can take more of a triangle shape like in the sketch that leads the eye to the main point of fucus. The position of the drums it's a bit problematic if you think of a pov, I would move them foward, make them bigger and narrow a bit the empress section between the two pillars to separate the raised floors to the main point of fous, they're too distracting and also I would lower the ceiling, gives too much space to the eye. This is extra, but if you want more separation you could put real nature instead of the drawn one outside of the circle dug into the wall. Architecture As someone who's not expert on architecture if would have seen those pillar alone I wouldn't have thought of japan (the only pillar I studied at school are ancient greek and roman ones), so I would put something more iconic like the red pillars from torii gate. This is the scene I pictured in my mind from the sketch by the way, and this as an illustration would turn out straight fire. (I'm still at 10:57, so maybe this commet wil get longer). I've just noticed it's not japanese lmao I'm sorry (10:25 and you even said it here, I think I need to watch less anime)😂 16:15 I do not rember if the left and right was a thing or not (I read about it but I forgot if it was bullshit or not) but it doesn't apply to this scenario as when you have everything already planned the only thing left i mechanical work (that doesn't involve your brain), it's quite similar as doing before the architect work and then the bricklayer work, you drain your mind first and then your body. In the next could you add the information for how much time does it take to do those kind of work pls? Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your journey!! Your art skills are much more developed than mine and you're still not really receiving a consistent paycheck which sort of confirms what I've been thinking for a while which is that concept art is not for me. I will keep trying to improve my art but I'm gonna start working on a story boarding portfolio!!
@niatora
11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I reckon with any skill/craft based profession you decide to try it takes a while to develop since art is a life long journey. Also I just graduated so that’s not really a good indicator to the amount of money industry veterans in the field are getting paid. Just my two cents. Story boarding seems interesting tho :>

I think you should split the next video into two so you can spend more time on both the q&a and term 3.
Oh wow. Im so glad I found your channel! So many GOOD insights. How much time do you think you'd spend on research? I was doing a project based on acient egypt, and it took me so much time with the research because I wanted to learn everything, watching docs etc. Not only looking at pinterest, so I feeld this can get overwhelming some times. How do you approach this? Cheers

im so scared of persuing art as a profession, i fear that once i graduate from a high art course or class, i would be just stuck and be unable to find a job whos looking for a person with knowledge like mine. how were you able to stabilize and find a job after fzd and not financially plumit? (sorry if this is a bit personal but its really the biggest setback i have of fully embracing concept art)
Hey do you know why i cant apply to fzd anymore?
i fucking love treasure planet. the ps2 game slapped so hard. shame disney shafted it to make toy story sequels
hi great video. very very helpful. i wanted to know is the school still taking admissions?
Why I can't apply to FZD?
I just curious is FZD school still operating? Because I hear something about this school is closed down
Hello Nia! i was wondering what tablet you would suggest is a good investment especially getting into digital painting or even perhaps dabbling with 3D applications? i only have a mouse and a small monitor to work with so might as well go for something in 12” + range but not sure what tech is worth it for the long term 🤔

@@niatora thats smort looking at how it could effect your posture long term esp in this field which they do say is the case with display tablet. other than that i guess im just a bit daunted by the hand eye coordination with screenless, its like french kissing a blind date to me LoL appreciate the sugg. and ill try to secure mines during black friday! Love Your Art!
I have two questions 1. Do you can recommend FZD terms for beginners artist ? 2. Like you have to go to the Singapore, right ? This school provided you with accommodation or you had to do this on your own ?
lmao as a tattoo artist, I knew u were a Tattooer when I saw u hahaha. I was like hm this person looks like they’d get into tattooing
@niatora

hehe :>
So what is the process? U create a blender 3D model and draw on it?
@niatora
11 ай бұрын
Process differs depending on subject matter and can be iterative but for most of the projects here it generally goes research > reference gathering > design ideation/problem solving> design sketch> 3D mock up > linework > paint over > layout
I've had a question I've always wanted to ask concept artists. I'm a 3D Environment Artist and an important skill to learn is working to create environments working from concept art and mood boards. I've seen people go through art station and make 3D versions of their concept art - I was wondering is this annoying or disrespectful in anyway? I'm not super strong at concept art but making someones idea come to life in a 3D space. Is there anyway you would like to see this navigated? Should they ask for permission or is it given it might be used?
@niatora
9 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s disrespectful at all if permission is asked first! It’s actually awesome because you see that your design can actually become usable 3D assets. But yeah definitely ask and credit the artist :)
I liked the burnout/ left brain, right brain separation. The two are at odds with one another. I noticed you use brainstorming webs quite a lot. You might also find mind mapping useful for the execution process. Helps with order of operations on complex projects and has served me well for project management in general! I use mind node (no affiliation) but there’s lots of great alternatives and also kinda fun to work out by hand.
