I think it's very important many are too scared to lose family or friends self harm & worse. please come out & be happy. Happy for you family will come around. if friends dont they were never your friends. My beautiful nephew put himself through university & I'm so so proud of him. He owns his own business & he lost family members but he always know I'm there for him 100% thank you guys for addressing the gay community.

Happy Pride!!!! My experience was more like Mike's, but I wish more like yours, Nic. I grew up in a more liberal household but my family were more conservative, at least my brother and sisters. Time does make things better. God bless my mother!!! She loved me no matter what. She even had a conversation with my boyfriend unknown to myself. She told him that he had better NEVER hurt her little boy!!! Nothing more was ever said to me about it. My boyfriend told me what she said to him. Thanks guys for your coming out stories. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🌈🦄

Happy Pride!

I subconsciously knew I was gay since I was like 11/12 but I wouldn't admit it to myself. At around 14 I pretty much allowed myself to come to terms with it and came out at 15 to my close Family and some classmates lol Everyone seemed to take it pretty well, my mom took about 12 hours to come to terms with it but from then on has been my biggest supporter. My love life, now that another story

I wish there was a button to cancel the music/noise in the background. This is excellent information!!

Being an older gay man times were a little tougher until Stonewall and then the AIDS crisis. I came out to my parents when I was about 32...lol. But I already had good a great extended family. I just think it is so great that younger gays are able to come out so young. It is horrible to stay in the closet even if it seems safer. Bravo for sharing guys. May your lives be forever blessed. Same when i came out to my friends. I wasn't really scared, i was like ready if they decided to cut me off but after coming out they were supportive and it was the best feeling ever. ♥️ PS i came out because one of my friends in that same circle had a huge crush on me and i just had to let the truth out. I don't want leading people on. 😂

Love you're two stories! Loved that guy meeting at your school Scotty, that was really cool of them. My coming out was hard. (Going to try to make it a Long Story Short). My local town was trying to put on a Pride festival for the first time, it didn't work out very well, but they still held it. Well I created a group/organization about 4/5 years ago called "GLU Equality" (Gays and Lesbians United [Inclusive to all LGBTQ+]) and I wanted to be a part of the Pride festival here and help out with getting my new group out there. Well my mom was like "Why are you so invested in this pride thing? Tell me right now, are you gay??" And I told her no, she then said "Don't lie, you can tell me." And I said "Yes, I am gay" then she went on to ask how long I knew and I told her since I was 14, so that meant I hid it from her for 10 years (came out when I was 24). She then ranted about how I told my sister when I knew and how I disrespected her for not telling her and hiding it from her. Then she asked me if I ever wanted to get married, and have kids, and I told her Yes someday, but why did it matter, I was only 24 then, I didn't think about marriage or kids at that time. Well we ended up not talking to each other for 2 weeks..... After the two weeks she came into my room and just told me "You know you can tell me anything, you don't need to hide anything from me." and I said I know, and we ended up hugging and both crying because that two weeks was hell for both of us, because I am so close to her, so it was hard to not be talking. SO, now 3 years later, she knows, she accepts it, but we don't talk about it at all, its like walking on eggshells around the subject whenever it comes up. I have been so focused on my health and school that I haven't been in the dating scene for a while, and I don't know what she would think when I DO end up dating someone. That will have to be a whole other milestone to get to. ... So this wasn't a long story short, but I thought I would share my story.. I apologize for it being such a long comment.. but Twitter only gives me so many characters to type!! lol Love ya Scotty!!

If I may, mayb leave your mum alone to watch 4th Man Out www.imdb.com/title/tt3978720/ - clearly you are very close to your mum, such a shame her initial reaction was so poor - you dont say what country you are in or if it was religious reaction? After 3 years of not speaking, she may know but, to me, does seem like she 'accepts'... will she ever allow you to bring home your man..! Travis Bryant channel had a recent vid kzread.info/dash/bejne/a3-X2KWvXaiolLQ.html and I made the comment; "sorry to say, but I totally agree. I adore Travis, he so deserves the real answers. I suspect the real answer for being thrown away at 15 by his father, was his fathers concept/image of what us lads do together (the graphic stuff) and his non acceptance of love is love, lust is lust, and just as a str8 couple do stuff with their body parts, so do lads with lads, and his son was doing that stuff. Maybe it is a bit of his "fishing/hunting etc" macho Vs his concept of gay lads taking "the womens role" etc etc, maybe religion is in there too !, and what his social network of macho mates will say..... Sir, may I suggest you read The Velvet Rage, seriously Sir, please read this excellent book, then discuss it with your son Travis." While your life experience is not the same, clearly your mum and his dad, may have similar issues. I would deffo recomm'd the same book. The Velvet Rage, as a Pride Month gift to your mum.... best wishes Sir.

Our stories are all different in unique ways, it's important to appreciate that the world is much more accepting towards same sex couples. Always remember your not alone and seek help if you need. Love is deserve to everyone.

It is easy to love you both. I was 7 when I knew I was different and now am 77. I was raised Catholic and because I am a Catholic and don’t think it is bogus, I could not “play house with a man.” So I left two men who loved me, left them in tears. I married a woman, screwed up the two boys cause I wasn’t a model for them. Now 2 daughters and 11 grandchildren. So, today I am alone, though I live with one daughter and 7 grandchildren, still alone; sometimes painfully so. Every breath is an agony without a solution except to wait, wait, wait. But you guys are sweet. And, Michael is it, thinks Catholic teaching is bogus. I don’t.

How old are you Zander? Do you live with your family?

I didn't come out until I was 22. I first came out to my brother and he was very supportive. My parents weren't though at first and it's still an issue between me and my dad. Even worse, my parents has told me that if I get a boyfriend they don't wanna meet him. I haven't gotten to kiss a boy though yet... or have a boyfriend. It feels like I'm missing out on it. At this point I'm not sure I'll ever get a boyfriend.

Alex Jones Don’t let your family stop you from looking for a relationship. While I can’t say 100% they’ll come around if you find one, they would have to make an active decision to hurt you instead of using a hypothetical situation to control your actions. Good luck. Life’s hard and parents aren’t perfect. Still, they won’t come around until you force them.

Alex, please don’t pursue a relationship because of your parents. Explore relationships, find someone. They will come around, and if they don’t, then so be it. The relationship is important.

7:00 the part is similar to mine except i hadn't come out (still havent) i reposted a #gayisokay thing and my sister who i thought would be VERY COOL about it turned out to be very homophobic. (This happened a few days ago)

Always belittling or underestimating devout pious folk... Don't know why. It seems gay people pre-judge people of faith (negatively) more often than not. And, the Church ain't the "Bogeyman" as it is made out to be too. Prayer is for everyone, and belonging to a welcoming praying-community is too.
