My Collection of Delft from Holland!!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi everyone, in this video I take you on another trip through our cabinet to show you our beautiful Delft pottery collection from Holland. We have been collecting Delft pottery and porcelain pieces for a while and want to show you how fun and beautiful it is. Delft is a place in Holland where this style of painting was produced. We hope you like this video and it inspires you to collect Delft as well!

    I'm 1st generation Canadian of Dutch parents. Love your Delft blue collection. I have quite the collection as well. Delft is a knock off from Chinese pottery brought over by the Dutch East Indian Company. It was used as ballast in the ships carrying spices from the East. Wooden shoes are made of poplar- great to wear in field & garden, an environmental version to plastic clogs. Thanks for your video!

    Hello, I met Angela in Mr. Johnny's live stream today. I absolutely love delft items. I love the shoes, windmills, and salt and pepper shakers. And the creamers do seem to be common. There's a town in Helen, Georgia that is like a mini Germany, down to the architecture, but also had an entire store dedicated to Holland and delft. I absolutely loved that store and should have bought something!

    The item than can be hung with the wooden lid with a hinge that can be opened is a salt pot. From what I'm told these were once a dime a dozen in the Netherlands in the old days. It would be hung in the kitchen close to where the lady of the house was cooking and she could just take a pinch or two of salt to flavor her dishes while cooking.

    Such a wonderful Delft collection. My mama had a wonderful collection. The blue and white colours go together so wonderful. Wooden shoes how fun. Crazy fashionista me wore a pair of them to school one day. Ah the ‘ 70’s.... fashion at it’s finest I think 😜. Thank you for sharing this collection. May your Memorial Day be filled with sunshine and beautiful memories.

    If you watch videos from tours inside Royal Delft Blue, you'll see that these products are NOT stamped. Every single piece is hand painted by artists. Sure, they dust on a basic outline, but the painting is done by a human. No machine. Plus, the paint goes on black, but comes out of the kiln as blue (there's cobalt in the paint used). Anyway, thought I'd correct your "stamped" comment. Cheers from Australia, from someone whose mother & her family migrated here Post-WWII from the Netherlands. (I've got a mix of new, not so new & at least a century old Delft Blue. But I'm just now started adding to the inherited collections on the passing away of my mother.)

    What is the difference between Delft and Chinoiserie? Simply the location it derives from? Holland vs China? (I get that Chinoiserie was a European concept); what came first Delft of Chinoiserie? 💙💙💙💙

  • @MyTakeOnHomeGarden

    @MyTakeOnHomeGarden

    Жыл бұрын

    Not quite ! Chinoiserie was first and developed in early China ! The Europeans adopted it and ran with it ! ....delft is more of a regional brand from Holland and the Netherlands its depictions are mostly of rural life ......chinoiserie is mostly abstract ...but also of Life and Earth ...mountains ...trees Etc. You get used to the styles overall the more you deal with it...or collect it.....Early Delft was just decorative tiles...later delft has colored tiles as well...like Italian work . 🌷🐝💕
