"My Classic Tire": Balancer Showdown!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Hey, We're back! More of the highest quality investigative automotive journalism this time as we pitch our 1950's tire balancer against its newer electronic counterpart. We've chosen this early 70s economy tire and fitted it to our Studebaker wheel for maximum aesthetic enjoyment without regard to cornering prowess.
Thanks again to everyone who sent so many nice notes after we lost my dear Stel last month. I just needed some time off, and to spend some time with Francine, who got less attention than was ideal when Stel was ill. I'll be putting up videos regularly again now; I definitely have enough on the go!
All the best from me and Francine and the rest of the guys that help out on these heaps just for the laughs!
Cheers,
s&f

Could not have said it better. Looking forward to the NC version of CWM. Seems like there’s a lot of old American iron down there.....
Nice to see you back , you're one of my can't miss on YT . Salutation from Québec city .
It is so very good to see you back! And with an episode of MCT, no less? Bloody marvelous. Thanks for the upload.

I'm sure Stella was happy with you and felt loved. We will all miss her. She was fortunate to enjoy so many cool rides, thanks to you. Let the vintage mania continue!
Really nice to see your video . Always entertaining! Anxiously awaiting your next one Scott.

Hey thanks; I'm gonna start really putting them out now...Hope you guys dig it! Cheers from me and Frankers...
Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you (so much!) that you are back. I really missed your cool stuff and I appreciate it always. Sooo great to see you coming back, hoped for it very strong! I beg your pardon but I wasn't able to comment the last two videos because of tears! Maybe more later/sometime.... Frankers looks absolutely great, so happy and carefree. Also like as if Francine had been treated with powdered sugar, (n)ice white on black! God bless you all.
Thank god you are back I was getting a little worried, but none of that matters now, YOUR BACK!!!! Thank god and Amen, have a great day or night or whatever the hell it is for you, cheers from Massachusetts!
Glad to see you back, and know the madness will continue!
Quite frankly one of the best shows on the tube. I even learned some stuff.
Welcome back! I always look forward to My Classic Tire....I have no life. I was shocked when you said that tire is from the 70's, I never would've believed it was that new. It's good to see you back again, keepin' on keepin' on
Good to see you back!
So good to have you back Scott!
Since I grew up in a family that owned a succession of Studebakers I immediately recognized the wheel cover in the opening scene. Looks like the ones on our 1956 Commander. Thank God, finally a vintage tire channel.
Welcome back my friend, glad to see your doin' good ! Nice vid, with these kind of gems, I'm pretty sure we'll get to see My Classic Tire on the cover of TV Guide LOL !
long day at work , crack a beer and watch my classic tire .perfect. thanks for the Vid !
Watching this was a delightfully fun way to waste time! Really looking forward to more.
Good to see ya back bud, keep em coming 😀
I can't go to any old junkyards now with out playing my classic tire the whole time I'm there. Lol
Brings back old memories of my high school days working at the home town Sears automotive department. I was the number one tire changer, muffler changer, shock changer and was fortunate to experience the transition from bias-ply to radial tires. The smell of new bias-ply and radial tires from the early seventies still permeate my hairy nostrils to this day.
Happy to have you back. I have also been suffering withdrawals. I have an old Alemite bubble balancer from the '50's. It seems to work just fine (No electronic problems). There were some Alemite balancers that spun the wheels on the car and balanced the drums, wheels and tires as a unit. As I remember there were 4 knobs you messed with to determine weight and placement. I'm waiting with baited breath (just ate a pizza with anchovies) for the next adventure.
Great to have you and Francine back! Your videos have inspired me to finally restore my dad's 1975 Ford F-150. He wanted to do so but sadly cancer took him in 2005.
Priceless !!!!.........Keep 'em coming there Scott
My Classic Tire is my favorite show ever. Would binge.
So glad see you back. frankers is showing us my classic shredder.
Thanks Scott. Good to see you back. Having been through your grief with our beloved kids I felt you would be able to see your way back but it's not easy. I speak for a Grateful Nation when I say we welcome Francine as our New Mascot!
I can't believe that you guys cant get that fine Studebaker running ! Sure are glad to see you all back in action !!

Oh! We could, but the budget is zero and it has two destroyed rod bearings...It might run for a few minutes, but then it would be totaled, so I'm leaving it alone. It also has two broken valves, now that I think about it...Just too many better cars that need less work and less money! Cheers, and thanks for the note!
Great to see you back Scott and lovely to see you dedicate your videos to Stel, l am sure she is with you in spirit and looking over you always. Fantastic MCT episode -cheers
lmao! more like my classic tire eater, holy shredder frankers! glad you're back and up to your old tricks. my life just wouldn't be complete without "my classick tire" thank you . definitely have to look for "neighborhoody" measurement s next time I've got my head in the Chiltons.

I’m so happy the agents and Franckers are back! 👍😄
Still use my old Ken Tool bubble balancer from the sixties. works great! I always put half of the weight it calls for on the backside of the wheel instead of all on the front.
I needed this. Totally pointless video!!! Love it. Thank you. Seriously. Love you guys!
Good to see you and the crew back! Francine is so funny, she'll get her lines eventually ;)
I am so happy to see you back and am looking forward to new adventures with you, your agents, and Frankers. The Citroen will be fun to watch being restored and am looking VERY forward to any motorcycles being done and whatever else you have planned.
Who would have thought a tire balancing video would be so entertaining. Thank you and welcome back.
Smiled all the way through - look forward to more from you, the agents and Francine
Happy to see your return....time heals all wounds.
YEAH! Francine just chewing the shit out of everything , HA puppies, so happy you and crew are back , LOVE IT !
You Guys always crack me up. Glad you decided to keep making videos.I love my classic tire. I love the numeric amount of Z for side wall protection. Deftly will keep the curbs at bay. sometimes you wonder what were they think or were they at all.
Nice to see you again, that was great. Yeah, watched to the very end, good job.
Welcome back boys. Very enjoyable edition of My Classic Tire.
Thank you for keeping it up and keeping it real! Cheers guys!
Never had so many laughs watching some one balance tires and i used to mount and balance tires. Thanks ! Until next time, Cheers!
Good to have you back! Frankers looks great and will make her mark on the show! Stella is still missed but glad we have her in older videos. The "Cold War Motors" logo needs to be T-Shirted and Bumper Stickered. I have a '50 Plymouth and '47 Dodge that would display them proudly! Thanks for the entertainment, enjoyment and information. Great episode from you and the agents.

Great to hear! My "machines" will be anxiously awaiting the stickers. Do keep us informed and thanks again for the channel, it's great.
woohoo !!! Welcome back ! All the best and plenty of good thoughts from switzerland !
Nothing better for a late-winter's Friday afternoon than to turn on KZread and discover a new CWM episode waiting to be viewed. Better yet, it's an episode of "My Classic Tire", the most brilliant situation-comedy(?!!) ever. Good to have you back, and, as always, thanks fer takin' us along...
" 'Coeur d'Alene', the newest feature by mega studio, Medallion 200, hit a snag in production yesterday when Frankers Newtread, as 'Bubbles Balancer"' (her first starring role), lost interest in The Method due to introduction of a prop deemed chewable." --- Welcome back, CWM!
Great to see you back!
really happy to see guys back with such an entertaining video ! :) Cheers from Australia :)
That was awesome. Glad to have you back. Pups, eh? She'll grow up, lol. That old balancer is pretty bang on. Good stuff.
Good to have you back, love your channel.
Excellent to see you back! Good luck with the SM!
Another great one!! Hope your doing good man!!
Hey it's good to see you guys! It's nice to know I'm not the only one that thinks old tires are cool. I have an old bubble balancer that my wife's uncle had in his service station in the '60s and early '70s. Thanks for the video.
The 1952 Chevrolet User's Guide gave the same mis-inflation info. Volkswagens through the late 1950s and maybe beyond used 5.60-15 tires and standard tire size on 1958 Rambler Supers was 6.40-15. Here in the not so mysterious really East, many, if not most service stations used static (bubble) balancers. Once in a while, a large station would be equipped with a dynamic on the car balancer. Thank you for an enjoyable and informative episode.
Super Video and Thanks for "my classic tire" Always a favorite. CHEERS
Im glad to see yall back on youtube .Take care my Canadaian friends.
Hello, I have a bubble balancer and like using it. However a tire out of round is extremely hard to get just right. I lift the tire from the balancer and rotate it about 90 degrees and try again to check the balancing. Glad you are back with the kewl vids.

Dry banging balancing weights all the way around the rim on both sides in a complete circle then go smoke a joint you'll never know the difference
Great to see you back. I love the floating eye-ball wheel balancer...
thank God your back I didn't know what to do without my classic tire. I've been watching Albanian lawn bowling just not the same....no tires at all. good to see you back at it
Glad to see you back, life could be hard sometimes especially after a lost, i experience one myself lately, but seeing a Coldwar motors video is the kind of things that make life a little easier to survive, you make us smile back again thinking of the old crap we use to use when we where young, when we start that first job in a dealer garage back in the 80's. thanks for still being there.
That medallion 200 is feeling pretty loved up.
I remember years ago we had a 14x7 Oldsmobile rally wheel laying around with a Montgomery Ward belted bias ply tire on it. I don't know what ever happened to it. Good ole memories!
Nothing like old dry rotted tires that still exist ha ha. I really enjoy these videos.
Too funny. Enjoyed watching that edition of "My Classic Tire". I can't help wondering though if I was the only one who paused the video to read the instructions for the Float O Matic? I've used bubble balancers before, but not like that one. Pretty cool thing to have in the coldwarmotors workshop. Thanks for the video.

I read it as well-
classic episode of my classic tire!!! Love all your videos they make my day
Great to see your back, Francers seems to be making my classic packing, this episode we test the breaking strain on styrene strips.
Awesome coincidence, I just bought a bubble balancer from Princess Auto to balance the old polyglass Goodyears on my 57 F100. works okay and saved me the cost of the balancer if I went to Crappy Tire! The old F100 maxes out at 80k so the bubble balancer was plenty good enough.
So pleased to see you're back.
Great to see you back. Good news 👍
I am happy to see you back at the classic tires! I must say that cast member Francine is chewin' up the scenery!
Thanks for returning videos to all of us with unusual taste in things automotive.Love the theme!
There's 3 "hosers" (correct me if I'm using the wrong term) that didn't like this...Thankfully, I'm not one of them. It really was by accident that I discovered this channel, & for me, it's a timewarp: a buncha guys hanging out, tossing back a few cold ones, & bustin' knuckles over their rides. I really do appreciate that. I'm glad you're back, & dedicating the show to Stella is simply the best.

Those three hosers can take off, ay?
I really could have used the Float-o-matic on the Citroen 11B. Since the wheels had the hubcap mounting bar across the centre hole no shops with modern gear could do anything. Good to have you back in video production!
Thank you, I have been waiting patiently for this new episode of “My Classic Tire” and it did not disappoint! Excellent Work!
Glad you decided to keep making videos. I see Frankers has her own demolition area. For My Classic Tire I believe the technical Canadian term is "Tire Tidy" EH? But then what do I know I'm in Wisconsin. You guys always make my day when a new video comes up. Thanks!
A true Gold Medal Performance in the time wasting olympics!! Well done! Glad to see you back.
Frankers is a hoot😊 found the Valerie June tune on a Yukon Road trip vid, the Citroen is a brave project with spaghetti wiring moved for bodywork, looking forward to the next My classic Tyre Dog, Dig 👌
The old reliable FLOAT-O-MATIC! I remember when bubble balancers is all we had.
@CorvetteKidNC

I had a bubble balancer for many years and always got good results with it. Never saw a Float-a-matic though. That's minimalism at its finest!
Enjoyable. Welcome back, Scott.
wow, that all original float-o-matic with the box and instructions and everything, what a real treat
Thanks for keeping this going. Enjoyed watching as always.
So glad to see your back, thank you.
I love my classic tire. I used to ride ATVs near an old dump and there were so many old tires out there, wide ovals and such. I could spend hours digging through and seeing the classics. Keep them coming.
Good to see back up and running! Great video!
My Classic Tire: Saving automotive history, one classic tire at a time! Love it!
Happy to see you back guys. Really cool that you still have that kind of tire balancer (Never seen one of those) and with the original box and instruction sheet. See you soon. Cheers.
I build scale models and My Classic Tire is ruining me! Now I can't just use what comes in the kit, I find myself pining for a set of say, 1/25 scale Dominion Royal Masters. :D
Now I know where to go for my post-apocalyptic, grid-down-scenario wheel balancing! :)
Yes, I got my Coldwarmotors fix. I like "My Classic Tire." Thanks for all that you do. It's good to see you back.
Stop being so hard on yourself. My Classic Tire is one of the best things on all of youtube. Have you seen the trash other people upload. This is something with some substance to it, and some history with entertainment too. It doesn't get any better. Of course its not going to be wildly popular but I think we all know that mainstream taste does not mean good taste. Keep up the great vids.
Always great to get a notice of a new video from Coldwarmotors. Simpsons Sears sold a full line of automotive repairs including Allstate tires and batteries.
Nothing to dislike here. Interesting little device to balance and great entertainment!
Great to see you and your budz back in action, keep on truckin!
This really made my morning. Coffee and my classic tire.So glad that you boys are back. this day couldent start better. Sigge.
Thanks again for a great video and like most dog lovers I will miss seeing Stella she was one of the reasons why like your video's
Another irreverently triumphant masterpiece, and Frankers is a scene-stealer for sure. 9.91/10
Bravo Scott! Love those classic tires (and hub cabs), so very nice to see you and the agents hit another one out of the park. Also I want to compliment you Frankers, on your commentary. You really tore it up baby! Thank you all for lighting up my evening. It's great to see you again guys. Cheers, from North Carolina!
Yass Sir! I'm so glad you're back!
My experience is bubble balancer is its good to 90mph,my old sleds will never go that fast. I have a pal that has a bubble balancer from Harbor Freight, it works
