    I broke my pinky before I stared leading bass, and this song is insanely hard for me to play clean. I really need to start working on my pinky strength.

    Oh my god, I literally just started learning bass a few days ago (finding it pretty hard ;my fingers are too weak to hold the strings down lol) and you are so good!! All my favourite songs, and when I get better I am absolutely learning this song! You played it perfectly Xx Update: I started learning Planetary and it's not quite as hard as it seems, so yeah, I'm happy :)

    Do you have any tips on using a pick when playing bass? I’m trying it for the first time and I’m having a bit of trouble so I thought I’d ask one of my bass idols!

  • @rodnieder

    @rodnieder

    4 жыл бұрын

    There's a couple of exercises that you can try. First you need to practice the alternate picking, which is playing the string up and down, but sounding very clear. After a while, you can raise the tempo and play some riffs. In this song there's some string skipping, which is a bit hard to do if you try to play right with the song. Practice the string skipping before play the riff, and, when you start feel comfortable, try to play the riff. There's some exercises that you can find here on KZread, but it's basically that. Pardon any English mistakes 😉

    do you have any advice on hand stretching? I can play it fine but it just gets so painful. any tips?

  • @rodnieder

    @rodnieder

    4 жыл бұрын

    Actually this is very important! Always warm up with some slow riffs and then start to increase the speed. Also, stretch your hand, fingers and wrist before and after play. But look on the internet the right way to do it. You’re not suppose to hurt yourself doing the stretching. If you start to feel pain you need to stop and check again what’s going on or if you’re doing it right. You can injury yourself pretty bad if you do it wrongly. Stretching and warm ups are essential to improve the playing. Cheers.
