Well, Gerard had mentioned he had a strong idea for The Paper Kingdom at this time but it seems any small bit of good writing probably went to Conventional Weapons aside from Fake Your Death. They probably had a drive to create because of what they were going through but it just wasn't working between them, hence why they all almost immediately started work on independent projects.

@@youraveragemusicperson2176 Conventional Weapons was released after Danger Days, and although most of the songs were written ~2009, Gerard said a few times that a bit of it was written after Danger Days (incomplete stuff) and this was around the time production of what would be The Paper Kingdom was being made, which is why many assume a small portion of Conventional Weapons was cut Paper Kingdom work.

Basically, they started coming up with more ideas for MCR5 and Gerard said that he came up with a concept for the album, and the idea was of a group of parents in a support group that all lost their children in terrible ways. Gerard had finally been happy when he wrote Danger Days and he saw that he was going back to where he started so they decided to stop.

I think Warner wanted them to take a more pop route, I just don't know why they won't just sign with another label or maybe they didn't sign with another so they fuck us up.

RobertoGTR JAM they needed it honestly . Gerard way needed to really just be a dad. He also wanted to start the umbrella academy. He was always into comic books instead of singing. I’m proud and not upset they’re just doing a reunion and not officially together. It’s baby steps, then maybe they could be the original My Chemical Romance!

I don't even know what to feel about this. This is just...just... ;_;

people here are talking 'bout them "going back" to the old days, but I don't think they will. they've always said that they want to move on and never do the same thing twice, and it's one of the things I love with this band. I have faith in that whatever they'll do, it'll be awesome. :3

To be honest guys, I think there must be something happened , there are secrets behind that brutal break up , they were so excited about new music and didn't wanna break up , don't you think that they had some problems with their label or some shit that made obliged to break up? Idk , I just feel the break up wasn't real enough , especially that paragraph on their site it's not the style of writing Gerard usually follows right? I know it's 2018 but still .

I feel you. Its pretty obvious they have left things out about the break up, and they have every right to. We will probably never know what really happened but in the end it is in the past, they are all on good terms now and none of them have counted a reunion out. They are all doing amazing on their own right now

The break up was definitely sad but necessary. I think a lot of it just had to do with Gerard and his own health. He relapsed with alcoholism after successfully seeking counseling and kicking the habit after Three Cheers. Not only that, but they felt pressured to return to more dark themes for the fifth album Paper Kingdom due to the poor commercial success and tepid fan response to Danger Days. And I think after breaking away from that image with DD they didn't want to just go back to it for the sake of making an uninspired but successful album. This I believe all culminated in the decision to just end things where they were at. I think Danger Days was a good stopping point. It was different and you could tell the guys just had a blast making it and performing it. It was a shame it under performed but I don't even really blame the shift in tone for that. By the early 2010's radio was dominated by pop, electronic, club, and dance music. There really wasn't any landscape for alternative left on the airwaves which led to bands like MCR who were once chart toppers to just fall to the wayside. But it was a solid album with some great songs, and I even feel like we got sort of a swan song in the Kids From Yesterday. I was shocked, but pleasantly surprised when they reunited. Really didn't anticipate that but it shows this band not only retained their loyal fans, they gained tons of new ones including today's youth. Takes a special band to do that.

I don't think I'll ever get over that breakup.

Gerard made it clear that MCR is done but it can never die because it is alive in us and in the guys. But we may never know maybe in a couple of years they miss playing in a band and start MCR again.

4:11 OMG I love Tom Petty! I grew up listening to his music every night before bed throughout literally my whole childhood and I got to see him in concert in 2014. It's awesome to hear the newer bands I listen to appreciating the older bands I grew up on

I think we all knew it was coming we just didn't expect it when it happened. Especially after the announecment of MCR5 when everyone was gearing up to hear these great new songs. I mean Gerard said the band would keep going as long as it had to and then it would end but no one really took it to heart I guess. Either way it's pretty shocking when your favorite band breaks up.
