My Cheap E60 M5 Took A S*** Again, And This Time It's Serious..

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My BMW E60 M5 is down again. I can't say I am suprised! While it's a fantastic car when it's running, it's the worst car when it's not due to common fail parts being very expensive. Today we dump some more money into this car!

Switch the ABS plastic gears to metal gears prior of installing/replacing the actuators. This will pre-long the life of the new set. All the best!

I really hope this is some of the last huge maintenance you have to do on this M5, it truly is too good to be true until you’ve done it all Yourself or you’ve gotten yourself legitimate people selling bmws and taking car of them, it’s hit or miss now which sucks:/

This is an excellent series and I appreciate your efforts. Unfortunately, I know your pain only too well. My 2008 M5 spun a bearing in March last year, and it is currently undergoing a full rebuild back to as new. There have been so many issues along the way it's almost comical. I watched the video of yours with the new exhaust and it brought some excitement back to the return of my car. They are a trying car to own but I think they are worth it in the end. Cannot wait to see the evolve plenum and intake! Once I can get mine reliabke again ill go this route

This car went from being one of the most neglected M5's (I mean toilet paper inside, tf) and now you are practically making it new and now with the carbon plenum, damn. I've only had mine for ~1000 miles, so really looking forward to see what kind of experience you get and for how long, to get a real view of the reliability issues from a real owner that will take care of it and not someone that just copy pastes the internet; because as strange as this sounds, I still can't blame all the issues you had to the car, I mostly blame the shit previous owner/s. I mean you are having ALL the issues at the same time. I've read clutch and flywheel are a thing, so based on the car thistory I would start checking them out.

Under 100 dollars and I did the work myself. The idle actuators were expensive, I went to Bmw and bought. Not a hard job to do. A day and you will be up amd running.

Why would you get VDO ones though? OEM and VDO (OE) retain the same design flaw that makes them fail. Getting a rebuilt set is heaps cheaper (< 1 VDO actuator), and comes with lifetime warranty, making it a not very expensive, one-time fix.

Why do they have to make essential mechanical components out of plastic? I was doing some preventative maintenance on my M57 3.0D and replacing the water pump along with the thermostat - and I shit you not - The impeller on the OEM pump was made out of plastic. The replacement HEPU pump had a stainless steel impeller. Unbelievable are the lengths to which they will go to cut costs at the expense of the end user.

Do the idle air control valves while you have the plenums off. Do the starter solenoid too, replace or delete the evap system. Change the fuel pump and filter. Clean the injectors, do the clutch adaptation, and program the TCU. You know what fuck it I'm going to create a complete series on the E60 M5. Nose to tail - complete owner's guide.

I wouldn’t have put on all that extra stuff until the car was completely sorted through.
