I have my CED Player and movies still and it works. A clear new disc I would say was better than VHS at that time and was also Stereo before VHS was stereo for about a year. And I wanted to watch Star Wars in Stereo and it was amazing. Kind of like listening to a vinyl album. Yes they skipped sometimes, and then sometimes the same spot on the disc wouldn't. My Collection has some great titles starting from West SIde Story, Grease, Star Wars to the last film I bought in my collection Back To The Future with White Case Blue Sleeve. Love watching videos on this format. Thanks.- Toronto, Canada.

I have several working players and every regular title. It’s my favorite failed format.

when I was a kid , a friends parents had a CED player . When they hit the market , they were far less expensive than a vcr for both the players and the discs . I have a few CED movies I have collected in recent years an am still looking for a player . It's like finding a unicorn to find a working one these days and I wouldn't spend over 100 dollars for one . For a comprehensive history of this format , check out the Technology Connections youtube channel . He did a five part series on it . Also , I like the fact that the players and discs were manufactured in my home state o Indiana ...Bloomington and Indianapolis respectively , so I would also like to have one as a historical artifact .

I like the long videos and I think it would be really cool if you did videos on the other date formats that are not common that you have a collection of Betamax, laser disc, ect

CED is a cool but weird format. Any idea how much they cost when they were new?

I’ve heard from a few different sources they were about $20 so in today’s currency probably close to 60 bucks

I have a collection of 160+ CED's, are you interested in purchasing them?

CED’s are extremely heavy so if they have to be shipped in the mail, it’s almost not worth it. I guess it would all depend on the cost of shipping and how much you would want.

They haven’t sold brand new players since the 1980s. They’re very hard to find. I’ve only ever seen one in the wild my entire life and that must’ve been about 16 years ago. I wish I would’ve bought it but I didn’t know what it was.

@@sir.reelcinema Fun fact: Chris Chan's family had one, but it was probably destroyed in the house fire.
