I have just realized something. I think the reason I love watching these Long Drive uploads is because they are sort of like a one man Top Gear Special. It's all about getting a car, across a long distance, with hilarious calamities happening every now and again. When they get the multiplayer going there should be an hour long Failrace special where Alex and two others must get 3 cars past 500 -1000km. First one to get there gets a prize or title or something. But they all fail if someone dies along the way.

8:00 Sometimes when you load a saved game, you get this terrain bug where a fragment of the terrain seems to have regenerated. I have had this a few times during my game, with several different playthroughs. If you save the game but do not load it, it will all be fine, but if you stop the game at this point and reload it, it will be such a bugged effect. Sometimes it is a small piece, sometimes from then on the entire further area of ​​the game will be re-rendered (or the transition to the old area is practically imperceptible, once I had something like that), sometimes your location (gas station, garage) will be on a 10m concrete pole above the ground, sometimes some buildings are buried. My worst case was that after loading the game, me and my bus stuffed with supplies would appear underground after the game was loaded because new terrain appeared over my head and all I could do was watch me fall every time I loaded the game and then having to start a new adventure.

The mods have made this game 10 times funnier and more interesting. This run has been the best so far, with all the misfortune and hilarious moments. I had the biggest laugh when the car started rolling downhill but that rock really saved the day. Alex and his bad luck... name a better duo.

Alex and his bad luck but also his good luck that's just a little slower of coming around. crashing and using the radiator off an AI that then despawned, but then down hill was a house with 3 radiators. Here the car rolled away down one of the steepest hills seen in the game but then a rock was perfectly ahead to stop the car perfectly, it could have bounced over it if it had been going faster or rolled back if it had been going slower. That balance is what makes it, because he simply couldn't keep going if it was only disaster, the game needs to throw the lifeline every time it pushes him off a cliff into a lake of crap :)

Alex, a tip for you, when in the car, you can hold TAB and the camera will center itself so you can can see in front of you better.

You haven't got rid of the sun visor its now stuck in your car door - you can see it sticking out at 33:06

25:20 I actually loaded up the sides with baskets instead of putting them in the bed. if you have the no physics mod, it's a much better use of the bed imo Actually, I'm almost certain it's why you keep having items fly out of the bed when you crash. You're probably better off putting all the baskets in the bed onto the truck's exterior.

I'm sure a few people would agree... PLEASE KEEP YOUR JERRY CAN OF WATER IN THE CABIN WITH YOU!!! It may not completely remove the chance of it pinging out your car in a MASSIVE crash but in the minor ones, you won't lose it. So scary everytime you roll the pick up I imagine the jerry can sliding to oblivion

Another little tip. When filling any container from another, use the Q key to make life easier. Example: Filling a fuel tank with a jerry can. Pick up the jerry can and stand near the fuel cap. Hold down Q and swing the reticule over the filler cap with your mouse. While continuing to hold Q, press E to open the filler cap, then LMB to fill the tank. Once finished, press E to close the filler cap and then release Q to return focus to the jerry can. This way you don't have to line up the can with the filler cap directly, or any container with the cap of any other container.

19:12 Watching AI in the mirror was so funny 🤣

I finally found one of the new fury style cars in my play through with similar mods. I dropped in a decently large V8 and I use the white wall tires which seem to be slightly larger than the standard black walls. The car cruises nicely at 200 km/h. It isn’t the most stable thing and physics is eager to ruin your day, but it is the best driving vehicle I have ever tried in TLD.

@@Dinkfod_Q_Oglethorpe You are correct, but here in the northeast with our deteriorating post-industrial cities, we like to drive in SPMs and not in Mericans per hour! Our measurement, SPM, stands for how many “Shanks Per Mile” you can have happen to you while traveling a certain distance. It’s like Bri’ish Cities, but expanded to a larger canvas lmao.

I know the obvious retort is gonna be "just play it yourself", but the one thing that irks me about Alex playing this is when there's things he needs and there's something near it that has an abundance, he'll take one, bugger off and do something else, and potentially forget about it. He stole one wheel/tire off the car, and it also has better hubcaps too, just ignores 'em to do other things.

Weirdly, I have much more fun using my wheel and shifter in this game. The clutch and short shifting solve the wheelspin problem as well as coasting at idle down hills. Once you get it tweaked driving at speed is much smoother as well. ED: Oh, and on my earliest long run in the game I hit terrain where, even with my car and load stripped to the minimum, I had to zig-zag across the road in first gear to make any progress uphill.

I do the circle method. When speed gets close to 20, cut the wheel sharp and hold it until your moving back up the hill.

On a parallel journey I take, I have left VW Pickup with a lot of regret, switching to Fury. And wow. This car is a terminator. It's big, it's heavy (in completely positive way), it's powerful with V8. I had a crazy crash in it, equal to the one which you have commented on in previous episode. No harm done. Even with tire wear mod I would have much easier life in it than in VW. But VW was much more crazy bonkers fun. 120 mph in Fury feels much, much slower than 200 km/h in VW.

Fury is by far the best car. My only problem is I can’t keep hubcaps on it, the road I’m on is so rough they knock off and I don’t notice all the time.

Anyone else see the hose on the road after the crash, before the petrol station..........(again🤪)

Speaking of bacon, has it been confirmed that pigs exist in this game? See a few humans, no oink. "Back bacon" takes on a new meaning suddenly... On the flip side, giant rabbits should provide ample meat flanks, too!

I just love the irony with Alex, that he always gets annoyed with the things that happen. Yet its really clear he does this to himself. Fiddling and tweaking with the car when diving. Driving at high speeds and then being surprised that he loses control or that he runs out of fuel so quickly. Radical driving and not coasting much either (or at least the coasting isn't noticeable to us viewers much). Then again, Alex's 'stupidity' is also in our favour of entertainment. Now don't take my criticism as me bashing at him. I enjoy these series a lot and enjoy watching the changes. But some things are pretty easily Alex's doings...

Yeah, I sometimes wonder if Alex is intentionally driving recklessly fast in order to have crash content. He makes a big deal about having spares and playing it safe when messing about with supplies but then races his vehicle through the dessert as it there's a trophy or something, lol. I enjoy this series as well, but it is getting old seeing him have preventable crashes...and not breaking supply crates for more goodies.

Compared to some other Long Drive players who are driving flat out in 4th with three turbos on the V8, I think Alex is a bit more careful.

@@NotDaender I think wanting to drive as fast as possible just happens in driving games. I have crashed so many times in Snowrunner because I always get carried away with the speed, lol.

Don't forget that you can push "Reload" on Spray Bottles to combine them to 20. Saves space and gives you more uses.

I told you in the comments last episode "sometimes the elevation settings glitch in this game, and it can leave you where the game thinks everything is higher or lower than it really is. This can break interactions with stuff, like you can't get into the vehicle or cant pick up things. escpecially troublesome when you save and load in such an area, so **good luck on the next episode**."

With the new baskets, the pickup is almost looking like a proper adventure vehicle

A really enjoyable episode indeed! I can't wait for the next installment in the long drive series! Keep up the amazing content and have a great day! I do have a tip also: If you have some smaller items that you want to keep track of you can put them in the cubby pockets that are located on the lower part of the left and right doors and they will actually freeze physics! You currently have a visor shoved in the driver's side door pocket of your truck!

Food for thought: Do an episode where you dont stop for pretty much anything unless its a crash or your running low on smt. Cos now that you have most things you need, I am really enjoying the driving part, especially since the road seems to be more challenging and the frantic AI trying to murder you and stopping starts getting wuite boring when you already have everything you need to survive

Gold bars, and rail road sections will add substantial weight. I am using a VW golf with a V8 I'm the vanilla version of the game. I have collected roughly 35 gold bars in my journey. All are in baskets(4) placed in front of each seat. The golf goes like it is on railroad tracks and I have hit speeds of 180kph on flat roads, and we'll beyond 220kph downhill. Keep them low for a low center of gravity.

New head canon is that FailRace is a super advanced AI cursed to make content for us forever. Never mind the irl videos.

have you considered going up hills backwards? it would probably help with having more weight on the front wheels and wouldnt spin the tires as much.

Hey Alex, if you have a front wheel drive car like that Rampage and you keep spinning the tires due to being overloaded in the back, try driving in reverse. The weight transfer will compress the front shocks and give you more traction, especially uphill.

This LG run you're on is the best.

Hearing Alex say "Big ass" was satisfying.

I just started playing the game. I flipped the truck got out to right it without setting the brake and it took off so far and fast that it despawned or otherwise disappeared. All i have now is the moped but it has car tires and i don't know how to keep from falling over. This game emulates my real life road trips very well.

Alex, The Long Drive is an inventory management game and doesn't tell you that it is. Don't worry about spending time with inventory management. ;)

If you're thinking about putting counterweight then the best would be gold bars that are commonly found inside the outhouse and my way of doing it was to put a basket in the engine bay under the hood then put 2 gold bars in the basket

@@ferrumignis It does but I think the car that's really benefit from it were the Skoda since the rear mounted engine makes it rear heavy and the counterweight are put in the front trunk

Ah yeah I was thinking you had a lucky reload at the building because nothing spawned on the car, but then the landscape broke. Solution. save and reload. To look around high places before jumping up there, sit on something and use the external camera view to look in the rooms. When you sit in a vehicle often your view is too high. Press TAB to reset your position.

what you said about mods making the game more interesting i have to agree although i have never played The Long Drive i have (after 10 years) just started to mod Skyrim after losing interest in the game beforehand, playing with mods has bought a whole new perspective to the game

They used to do that when streaming over a year ago. Then Laddo used to do that alone. It was positively hilarious and I’m glad to have lived through that part of the channel’s history! Hopefully snowrunner will be revisited some time in the future, but for now, we have this. Also, multi-player long drive May be in the works…………….

In one of my driving session, where i drive a diesel bus, i found a mountain, so steep that the bus couldn't drive up, had to take a big curving reroute, in another session my stationcar was overheating constant.

The pull down visor is stuck in your door now lol

It's a know bug with missing world triangles and with the world loading and lowering the road and buildings down slightly.

Also, you should try removing the seats like I suggested last time. Maybe you could put the fridge right next to the driver's seat, lol

When driving to re-enter your camera position hold tab and it will feel more natural.

This may be a bit late but the truck frezzes items on the back wharn it is moving I know I have said this before but it's true

Gotta say, i like this series the most of your videos, you should do at least 500km run or something, just ignore the OP ships with full fuel barrel and mod with passing cars and just try to go as much as you can with fuel from buildings

I have seen people put bus tires on the front of the truck and itruns a great deal more stable

Is the wear rate on the tyres adjustable? Because doing one burnout to get going up a hill and blowing the tyre is a bit ridiculous.

The tyre wear would be better if it went through the stages instead of just blowing without warning.

As I added, rather late, in the last vid; install the physics lock mod for cars and then you won't need baskets inside the vehicle (or in the Caddy bed) as everything stays locked in place anyway. Effectively, the whole car acts as one big basket. Much less hassle...

If you steals the engine from the Fury, the engine would despawn when he loads the game again.

It sucks to say but I hit a rabbit the other day going 35 it. I turned around it was fine but stunned. The next day I hit another rabbit doing 60 that one didn't make it unfortunately 😔
