Lotus salt egg is the OG! So many amazing family memories enjoying that one! I’m flying to Los Angeles to see my parents for mid autumn festival and this is so lovely to watch. Thank you for sharing! 中秋快乐!

Yup....we in Malaysia we Chinese also celebrate moon cake festival just like in China. Here we also have plenty of choices to choose from. We have a fairly large population of Chinese here..
“海上生明月 天涯共此时“,“但愿人长久 千里共婵娟”。Amy, wish you and Derk a happy Moon Festival.

I'm glad Amy told Derk what's inside otherwise he'd be in big trouble 😂. Happy mid autumn festival everyone 🥮
Not sure if it's just me, I can't really enjoy any mooncake without tea. They go so well together!

mooncake can be very dense so tea does go well with it
Those look so delicious :) Btw, your videos are one of the reasons why I decided to learn Chinese :)
you should get the red bean paste one or date fillings, better than the ones you bought 😉
Since it is only once a year, you cannot go cheap on the mooncakes. I used to shop for the cheaper ones but now I always get the expensive traditional kind. Even if it is expensive but it is worth it.
We need a more comprehensive review on Mid Autumn Festival, maybe some other traditional foods other than mooncake? The shining moon would make for good b-roll if you have the camera for that :)

Hey buddy watch our video we tried to make the story on moon cake festival 👍
According to your boyfriend's tastes, I think he would like the Cantonese style mooncakes more. They are softer and sweeter. He should like 豆沙(red bean paste), 枣泥(dates paste), 椰蓉(coconut), etc.
@cfchooi

Agree with this. Come to Malaysia for some Cantonese mooncakes - the soft pastry types (needs refrigeration). I think he'll even like the durian ones here.

Happy Moon Festival Amy, have a great time with ur boyfriend. I am your fans from Hong Kong. hope we can meet up one day either in China or HK when the border opens:)
Hi Amy and Derk!!🙋🏻♀️ So awesome to see you bought a variety of mooncakes to try! I am not a fan of the nuts flavour myself. And I was laughing when you guys tried the ‘ham & cheese’ Starbucks mooncake, it’s amazing to see that Starbucks is selling special treats in China. Wishing you two a safe and Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!👩🏼❤️👨🏻🥮🎉✨🌝👋🏻
A Friday upload! What a pleasant surprise :)
My favorite moon cake is Shanghai style pork moon cake, it's so good.
We have mochi skin (snow skin) moon cakes with many different types of fillings, usually a paste. You need a tea to go with this as well.
I just have to say that you two are literally one of the cutest couples I've ever seen!!
Haha, True true, Wuren moon cake is a super traditional one and we didn't like it when we were kids. And nowadays, it becomes popular again for some reason and it really bring us the memory of childhood and hometown. Very fun video!! Like it very much! 谢谢 Blondie!
Drek and you are so lovely, enjoy seeing your interaction with Drek ☺️ Happy Mid-Autumn Festival
Mixed nuts is my favourite moon cake variety. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival from Malaysia.😂🌕🥮
good video mate, happy mid autumn festival
Microwaving mooncake for 10 seconds makes it soooo much better
Amy: "it's nothing crazy, just your allergy no worries" 😂😂 too funny
You adventurous in trying numerous exotic moon cakes flavour is commendable
Happy mid-autumn festive Amy! As a chubby guy, I have to say goodbye to mooncake again😂
Nice and welcomed special addition/edition video for the festive of family reunion.
"this is not just vanilla ice cream" 😄 very bias
Nice content all the time, different themes, places etc. Amy great. Been watching yr videos since you first launch your videos.
Thanks for you show your home last time.☺️
have fun "watching the moon" with the lights out, on the plush carpet. ;)

I would love to see a home cooking episode i.e. what you might cook yourselves during a normal week including the shopping. Happy Mid Autumn Festival.
Thank you once again Amy for making awesome videos for us to watch !! :)) It was fun to see the both of you to try the different flavours of mooncakes !!🤣 Happy Mid Autumn Festival and enjoy watching the moon !!✨ Have an awesome Mid Autumn Festival !!🥳
Autumn Festival is the Chinese version of Thanksgiving. Whatever you would do for Thanksgiving is a fit for Autumn Festival.
Ever since I tried the 冰皮月饼 that’s also available in Australia, I’ve stopped going back to the traditional moon cakes. 😂😂 you should try that if you have a chance. Happy moon festival to you and your family Amy.

I was offered one last night but it was rather frozen... so it tasted like an ice block. I have had thawed one and it was rather nice when served properly.
Happy mid-autumn festival, Amy and Derk! Wish you happy together all the way ..!
That last one is a funky combination
There's other types of mooncakes than ones with baked brown shells. Different regions and localities all over China has their own versions. Shanghai area has a flaky pastry type. There's many more types with different shells and fillings, sweet or savory. There's no "traditional" ones as you stated, but what's traditional to the different areas in China.
You really should try some big Chinese bakery brand. Strongly recommend Meixin /Maxim Moon cake. It’s a Hong Kong brand and makes the Cantonese moon cake. Delicious! 🤗

Chilled mochi/glutinous rice dough wrapped mooncake
There must be red bean paste, that one should be fine for Derk🤣
The Mid-Autumn Festival is getting farther and farther away from us, I miss the old flavor and the old atmosphere
Double salted egg yolk with red/yellow lotus seed paste is the king of mooncakes. Perfect blend of sweetness, creaminess and saltiness.
I am from Hong Kong and living overseas. When I was young, we would walk in the neighborhood at night with friends each carrying a candle lit paper lantern. It was magical and fun. Missed the good old days.

yeah lots of childhood bad memories of burn out lanterns when nobody ever explained how to avoid it. A burning bunny lantern is enough to set off smoke alarms these days.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.. Fans from Hong Kong. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Happy Chinese Mid Autumn Festival, the most important thing is to be with the family as the full moon implies.Even if you are abroad in a different country alone,When you look at the moon your loved ones will be looking at the same moon and your thoughts and love are connected by it(but we do have facetime and wechat now so just call them to show your love unlike the ancient Chinese)
lol, the last time I had Häagen-Dazs mooncake in China was 2010, how time flies
in singapore (probably malaysia too) we have snowskin durian mooncake and its probably the best thing to ever exist! but mooncakes here are so expensive too :( happy mid autumn amy!!!
My faves prob the softer texture ones like Green tea filling or red bean~~ I hope there will be Apartment tour vlog once you finished furnishing 🤗
Happy Mooncake festival 🎎
给男朋友吃人生中第一块月饼就上五仁馅的,这是妥妥的真爱。
happy mid autumn festival ~
First time watching your video & I like both of you already. My favourite mooncake is the snowskin type with red bean paste & salted egg yolk . Yummy 😋
5:05 Hahahahhh, Amy u should try a master speaking like: Yap, I love my job, but love u more. (Wink with an indescribable smile.) 🤣
You should try this brand. 香港美心月饼 (Hong Kong meixin Mooncake) both the original double yolk lotus and the lava edition. It’s really really different. I like the custard one. It’s really really good. 🥰

Happy Mid Autumn Full Moon Festival to the both of you also.
Thanks for your efforts in trying a range of moon cakes. I'll probably just try the haagen daz.
In Indonesia, mooncakes for sale in packs are only activated for giving, but for self-mealing, there is a subscription that makes them, the taste is much better
That's so cool, thanks for sharing the mooncakes!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, Miss Amy, mooncakes from Starbucks sounds special, as they freezing and delicious with different fillings inside.🌕 On the other hand, I prefer eating snow skin mooncakes (冰皮月餅) than traditional ones as you have too. 🥮
It's the Chinese version of the Western fruitcake. Something your grandma brought out every year and it seemed like the exact same one every year.

35 rmb, cheap af, my local homemade shop sells about 45rmb for the vegetarian one and 50 for regular one 60 for yolk one, 80 for the five beans with yolk
I m laughing when u smashed it with the knife, haha, would love to try it one day
You guys are so cute together!!!
My favorite is the date paste with two salty egg yolks from KeeWah's Hong Kong bakery. My major splurge every year! ❤️
I m in Sydney, as there are many Hong Kong here, I tried Lulian taste
I just ate a strawberry moon cake a few days ago😂
Not a thousand years of history, over three thousand years of history. In Zhou era, the Imperial family had already celebrated Mid-autumn festival.
My favourite is the white lotus root with double salted egg yolk. I did try a cheescaked moon cake recently that was crazy good too.
I forgot to ask Amy, have you tried durian before? There are only two type of people, love or hate durian. In my country, we have moon cake with durian paste inside.
Amy 中秋快乐🎑 Great video as always👍I thought the Starbuck mooncake was durian flavour before Amy telling us😂😂
My favorite one is Wu Ren but every time after one La Du Zi 😂
Good choices, Amy. 中秋快乐!
I recommend trying snowskin mooncakes next time. I think you and Derk would enjoy those more🙂
The original Chinese mooncake flavor of White Lotus seed paste with or without duck yolk is the best, next is the vegetarian multi seeds and nuts moon cakes.
the best mooncake is the meat one, call 苏式鲜肉月饼
You are really funny guys 😆
Happy Mid-autumn
Haha love he’s reaction to things! Hilarious 😂
Took me decades before I got used to regular mooncakes, but I still prefer 冰皮月餅.
For our family it has to be salted egg with lotus paste (white or brown), Cantonese flavour and nothing else. We tried many fancy styles and never liked them. The 2-yolk and lotus in Sydney is over $60 per tin (4 pieces) this year, getting more and more expensive.
Lovely video!
