My BOOTLEG NINTENDO Memories // Power Player Super Joy III - YungJunko

Ойындар

Things just got out of hand...
Today, we take a look back at a notorious Nintendo bootleg console, the Power Player Super Joy III. These things were seemingly everywhere in the early to mid 2000s, and even today they pop up in flea markets and shops. But will unleashing this ancient 76000 games in 1 tech lead to disastrous results? I dunno, maybe.

    I remember getting this as a gift from a thrift store. This is honestly how I played super mario for the first time. I had some decent fun playing 2 player games when a friend came over. It took my mom a while to realize that there wasn't actually 7600 games and she wasn't inclined when I asked for new games and would tell me to keep playing my other 7600 games. My version was black instead of blue

    I got the same one as a kid from a flea market while visiting my grandparents in Florida, except mine was black and ran on batteries instead of an AC adapter. Couldn't figure out how to properly insert the battery case into the controller without jamming it in so I ended up throwing it out and keeping the gun to use as a toy.

  • @IVR02
    @IVR026 ай бұрын

    Holy shit. I had this stupid thing when I was a kid. I have more or less the same memories of it that you do. My dad got it at a flea market sometime in the mid-00s, and it was basically my introduction to the NES and old games as a whole. It was well before I got my hands on any proper consoles, or had any idea what any of these games were. Like, when I played an actual, properly licensed version of Mario Bros for the first time and realized that what I'd known as Mr. Mary had been a lie, I was floored. And, on the other hand, it actually kinda introduced me to a lot of interesting, more obscure Famicom games that I've been getting my hands on all these years later. Like, I'd have no idea what TwinBee was if it weren't for this ridiculous lump of plastic. So that's pretty damn cool in my book.

    This video unlocked some deep buried memories, my god. I remember years ago, when I was in Nicaragua with my family for a few months over a summer. I guess one of the places I stayed with had one of these things, because somehow I remember this being possibly my first experience with these old games, maybe Duck Hunt, but definitely Contra and Super Mario Bros. Like you said, it's easy to imagine this as common gaming history now by proper distribution and ownership. But even through a bootleg, these games somehow made an impact on me, just like you mentioned, and it's wild to think back that it's through THAT I had my first experience years ago.

    I always wondered if one of these things was someone's childhood. I found this at a garage sale once, back when garage sales were cool and not just an excuse to sell used clothing and lamps, and it was instantly perplexing. Didn't get many hours out of it, I think the controller stopped functioning about a month into use. Fun video.

    Another fun vid! I've commented on multiple vids, and on twitter, about it before, but I can't help but reiterate how much I enjoy the editing and writing on your stuff. Super entertaining! Now for the random notes that nobody asked for but I still took them as I watched: -Whoa, what's with this new Recycling Bin. Did I taint the trash can by drawing too much Twi'lek against it? Hahaha -Never ever tired of hearing about games for the PCP. It was what brought me here and got me subbed right away. hahaha -Like 45 seconds in, and your video has also unlocked memories of things I had forgotten even existed like two decades ago. Again. -I don't know why you'd think that controller looks like an N64 controller. It's definitely just middle-of-the-road generic, not trying to rip off the most identifiably different controller from like a 30 year window or anything. Hahaha -Yeah, everyone knows the gun is too OP in Mario -Nintendo probably wouldn't have been so mad at him/taken down his plane if he'd only put out 75,998 games tho. He really shot himself in the foot with that one

    My cousin had something like this, only the light gun was built into the controller. I remember getting frustrated with the controller layout because I was still maining my N64 at the time and was so used to start being where reset was and regularly reset the thing when I meant to press start. The crazy thing is it was advertised on TV from what I remember, and id didn't have direct roms on it but since my grandparents had a nes I could tell what many of the rom hacks were originally. I was also fascinated by the expansion port and thought it was for N64 games, and one time brought over a game to see if it would work (it didn't even connect). It's cool to know it was actually for famicom games.
