    I follow a lot of the hermits besides this channel. a few of them have health issues that causes time away for them. Plus I'm a fan of the Orion Sound. if you get more then one video a year from him, it's cause for celebration. I don't need someone posting daily if it cause stress or health problems for them.

    It’s insane that you are still mentally alright doing one game for content for over a decade. The burnout couldn’t be more extreme. I get burnt out after 20-30 vids on one game. It’s why i don’t do it because for a majority of KZreadrs who isn’t a special case scenario of fame, the channels always die out and the game the channel is known for losing a ince large interest and so on. Anyway. I still remember the exact day your viva lavida minecraft music video parody released. Seeing it was that long ago already blows my mind. I was a literal pre-teen child.

    Honestly, if you struggle with collabs, don't care about uploading frequently, and want to focus on livestreams, getting invited to Hermitcraft seems like the best possible opportunity for you. You already know Iskall very well, you've played with others like False, Scar, and Grian on MCC, you don't have to worry about frequent uploads because there are 27 other hermits, and you wouldn't be the first livestream exclusive Hermitcrafter, if you decided to not post formal videos on the main channel either. You don't really need to be a great builder or redstoner, you just have to be funny and entertaining, which you certainly are.

    It's weird to say this, but I quite literally grew up watching you. I was twelve years old when I first started watching your videos, curled up on the couch with a Kindle Fire in my lap just hungry to watch other people play Minecraft until I could get my own little hands on it. Oh, how times have changed since then. Now I'm twenty three, living on my own and far removed from the obsession with a silly block game that helped shape me into who I am today. I have a million other things I could (and probably should) be doing, but I always find myself coming back here just to see how you're doing. There's a simple sense of comfort in coming back and knowing that I wasn't the only one growing up, seeing you change and seeing comments that echo sentiments very similar to mine. To suffice it all, thank you. For all of the fun content and catchy songs that I still occasionally go back and listen to. For being consistently positive and entertaining. And for being one of the realest people on this platform in recent years. It's a nice change of pace. I hope you're doing well when the camera's off and living your life.

    Just my two cents, about the home ownership opinion, I used to agree, but now I actually think the opposite. Owning a home is more like a long term investment. Being a renter makes you dependant on the landlord. If you buy a home and decide to move somewhere else later, you can rent the old home to cover the expenses of the new place. As you said, it's a lot more responsibility and maintenance, but having a guaranteed fallback is worth it.

  • @TheSteamHat

    I have literally no knowledge to base this on but as I understand it if you buy a home your mortgage payment will be lower than if you were to rent a place. Am I mistaken? @@TheSteamHat yes, but with one caveat. Renting will always be more expensive than buying the place at the time the place was bought, but it's not necessarily more than if you bought that house today. Someone who bought a house 20 years ago can afford to rent it out for much cheaper than someone who bought an identical house this year could because the first person bought their house for much less. Taxes go up over time, but the price you paid for a home doesn't. But if you have a choice between renting a home that was bought this year or just buying that home yourself, it's definitely cheaper to buy the home yourself.

    I think (especially in America) homeownership is the epitome of freedom to us. No one telling us what to do, what we can paint, or if that wall has to stay up. Besides HOAs and when the mortgage/bills are due, you can do what you want without asking someone else for permission

  • @mimsydreams
    @mimsydreamsАй бұрын

    As someone who has come close to houselessness several times in her life, the real "joy" of home-ownership is knowing a place is yours and someone can't just throw you out on the street, because they don't like the color you painted the walls or because they think you have too many dogs or because you're not straight enough. Handling your own maintenance is absolutely a nightmare, but having a absent landlord who won't fix things is worse, IMO. It's all relative to each person's experiences and opportunities in life. I became a home owner for the first time in my life, ~5 years ago. I'm 41 years old. I've had some HVAC issues from HVAC-HELL that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I still would not want to be a renter.

    It is the genuine openness that you have with us, complete strangers who enjoy what you do, that led me to subscribe to your channel almost 7 years ago now. I have enjoyed the content from throughout your career and find the stuff I enjoy the most is the very stuff you’re having fun doing and enjoying. Some of the lessons you shared are a great reminder to people. We are all different, have different gifts and interests, it is what makes us unique. In regards to the collaboration and the struggles to do that type of content I feel very similar. I struggle to make connections with people and many people likely think I’m wierd. And I’m ok with that because they don’t know the real me. I love making other people smile and sharing what I enjoy with others (I also find joy in doing stuff with others even if it is not something I am innately drawn to, since I pick up more on how people feel/am empathetic). I’ve had my channel for over 7 years now and I still kinda make the same content now as I used to. I just post my Xbox captures to my channel and if anyone is interested they can watch. Now that I am nearing the end of school (7 years later) I am tempted to do some for fun streams of games. My biggest reason why I haven’t is I’ve not been able to make connections with people to be able to do so. Minecraft, Titanfall 2, and more recently Deep Rock Galactic are some of my favorite games and I enjoy playing them and would love to share that with others, I just find the gameplay is more exciting with others, but can be interesting single player as well. All that to say is I appreciate you wanting to share with us some lessons that may help us. We need to look out for eachother more than we currently do.

    The only reason I would like home ownership is because the same issue of overhead and maintenance still applies to me as a tenant lol. Yeah I don't pay for it, but my landlord keeps the house so unlivable until someone comes to inspect the house. This is true of most landlords for student housing in Canada at least. It's definitely cheaper but being able to come home and not having to worry that you won't be able to fix serious health concerns like rodents, maggots, cracking, leaking, and all that would be nice. I want to be in charge of that.

    Still love you captain. I've been watching you since I was 10 and now I'm 24. I remember coming home from high school and the best part of my day was sitting down and watching a new episode of mianite. The collab you did with the portal gun mod on the prison escape map is still in my "loved" videos file category. Needless to say, I'm married now, a baby is on the way, and have really been debating a house purchase so thank you for your insight. I figured renting was the better option (it's what we are doing now) but hearing it from someone I respect as much as you means a lot. I know it's not financial advice more like a confirmation of my own thoughts. I don't want to ramble I just want you to know that despite all of your regrets I still love your content (even if I don't watch everyday) and I hope that you don't dwell on the past too much. Thank you for everything you do

  • @smarty4822
    @smarty4822Ай бұрын

    The one issue I take with this is the one about the house lol. Renting is rarely ever a better investment if buying is possible (ie simple mortgage with best interest rate and 20% down) && you don’t need flexibility in location and can do a 15 year mortgage with at least 5-7 years in that location. It will always be a better deal until interest rates get super high. Maybe not in Cali and hcol places but nearly everywhere else. The thing is that for most young people none of those things apply so yes renting is better unless they have the ability/desire to use it as an investment vessel at which point it becomes different and more weighted to buying. Yes it comes with overhead, but so does renting (rising rent, moving costs, eviction, roommates, etc.). Basically it’s highly dependent on situation.

  • @ZypherGames
    @ZypherGamesАй бұрын

    Jordan has never rented or had a family member rent long term. I've witnessed too many family members be locked into the rental market, they can never save the money to buy a property. The main point he missed in "why do people buy houses?" One word: Stability. Imagine living in a rental it becomes your family home after 4 years then the landlord kicks you out or they are divesting the property. I've had one family be forced to move every year for about 3 years. Stability and security is what home ownership is at its absolute core.

I love hearing about your perspectives and experiences, challenges and regrets as a full time content creator.

    Thank you for making this video Captain. I first met your channel from a Machinima MW2 Booster Hunting video you made - one where you talked about changing your channel name to Captain Sparklez (you totally trolled those guys on the map Estate lol). I won't lie, Minecraft content hasn't been something I've watched for a while, but you've always seemed like a genuine guy. Now I'm working to grow a KZread channel myself, and this video helped me out greatly as multiple of these 'regrets' are things I'm considering right now. Thank you for taking the time to pass on any wisdom you've learned from your journey, it greatly helps the 'next generation' of KZreadrs pave their way forward.

    Years and years ago, I started watching this channel as pretty much my only Minecraft on KZread because my immediate reaction to your content was "holy crap, a Minecraft dude who isn't a loud moron!" Since then, you've proven your intelligence, genuineness, and charm time and time again, and this video is just the culmination of that. Thanks for the advice Jordan, because genuinely, you're the kind of person I aspire to be.

That being said, the fact its been a minute since your last episode is probably a bit part to why I stopped what i was watching and immediately clicked on it I totally concur that youtube has shifted towards longer time between uploads, with much much higher production quality and/or content.

    Hello, Am Euticus & new here and I feel like it's an insult to say that I just got to know about you today and this is the first video of you that I have watched . Most of you might be wondering which hole I just crawled out of😊, it's called Kenya🇰🇪. I am not a gamer myself and I hope that will be an excuse enough for not knowing you earlier. It's not often prominent people speak out about regrets and for being that bold , personally I am very grateful. Upon seeing your influence and the much years you have been in the GAME , I had to note down all the knowledge you were dispensing from your 14 years experience and from now on I will learn to commit to nurturing whatever skill I find myself good at without letting my other aspirations affect my efforts. Neither being concerned with what other people think of me plus the wisdom you shared on collaboration and investing 🙏. Experience can never be bought and you giving it for free , is Golden. Thank you Kiongozi.

    At least with a house there’s a theoretical end date of paying for it. You could buy a house outright in cash and never pay a mortgage or rent payment again. Yes you’d have maintenance but if you win the lottery you just budget for a maid or maintenance guy 😅 Plus there’s no landlord telling you what you can or can’t do to the space

A lot of your fans grew up watching your videos and are probably wondering how the hell you balance your time and relax at all. Fully committing to a game is not what made you special enough to watch for other people, its the variety, your chipper attitude and how you make your content. The fact youre out here makin videos saying all creators inner thoughts, and actually posting it is enough to make me continue lookin foreward to yer content in the future if you should upload, whether it be tomorrow or next year. We're all antisocial anxiety knots inside bwaha. Im social online, but in person im like you in this video, without the extraverted-ness to actually make one myself.

    I appreciate this level of honesty and wisdom, I have a new found respect for Sparkles Ill share any wisdom and regrets of my own for anyone who reads this. Its that being famous (especially for a introverted person) can be very difficult and is not what it seems. In my final year of highschool I auditioned for a popular National TV show and got the part for a two episode storyline, they liked me and kept me on as a regular actor for 5 years, I ended up doing something like 70 episodes, It was a strange time in my life as I went from being that small nerdy kid at school to being recognised everywhere id go, from shopping, meeting friends, going out for food or drinks, there were girls waiting outside the set and sometimes my house waiting for a glimpse of the cast. It was nice at first, the attention, the compliments and people wanting to be friends but after a while it became a bit burdensome being asked the same questions by people interrupting my day, people staring at me, whispering around me or following me. I decided not to pursue acting anymore as it was affecting my mental health, the acting went on from 15 to 21 and I've been recognised publicly to around 25 and I'm 29 now, I feel paranoid and nervous in public like people are still watching me and or judging me, its crippling, I spend all my time in my flat and struggle with anxiety when I do go out. Money, during my acting years I was on a good wage for my age around £35,000 a year (working 6 months of the year on the show). I was a saver and was very frugal, my family however were very poor and struggling with debt. I helped my parents with house payments and bills, I gave my father loans to keep his business running until I ran out of money and the business failed. In hindsight I now know that my family was taking advantage of me and shouldn't have put so much pressure on me to help but I was ashamed to be on TV viewed by 6 million people and have the bailiffs banging on my family door, It was like my whole neighbourhood was watching me crash and burn in the most public and embarrassing way. If in life you ever come into what you would call considerable money, be wise, do not give your money away foolishly, even with your own family. I regret ever auditioning for the show, it kind of derailed my education, my career prospects and chances at relationships and left me with mental health problems that I'm still trying to reconcile. Not to sound like a complete downer I do have a lot of good memories and experiences from my acting days that I cherish.

    Small content creator here. I’ve always wondered where exactly I want to go with my content. I’ve thought about sticking to just Minecraft, but another part of me thinks it’s better to incorporate some other games in between to see if that might get other people’s attention. I haven’t made an 100% decision on it because I have a full-time job, which I really do enjoy, but OMG it’s so hard to balance that with my work and going to the gym. This might be me being a procrastinator because whenever I do have the free time to do other things like play MCC Island with friends, I could be investing that time into editing my videos. I guess this is just more motivation for me to really invest that kind of time into doing something I really want to do. Thank you for this video along with your wisdom!
