You’d think that wouldn’t you, but they lie, they just want their stuff and absolutely couldn’t care how you get in or out, it’s the nature of the beast, most of these lanes weren’t made for hgvs it’s just the way it is

@Wayne Shone well in my experience farmer's etc. Have always been the source of knowledge. After all they pull trailers around their farms. Its not in their interest to give you bad information. Even you said they want their stuff. Personally I found if you talk to them sensibley. They treat you the same. I'd lose your attitude. Might find the job is so much easier.

Looks like you might need to improve your planning. Maybe try to use google maps and satellite images to verify your sat-nav route before commiting. That way you might be able to avoid running artic into roads like this. Good driving anyway.

Google maps is pretty shit and hard to plan a route on for a truck. Normally decides to bring me through mountains and down lanes with grass in the middle of the road 😂

My previous company had TomTom truck sat navs and they would get you locked up - would just switch it straight off. I use a Garmin lgv800 on double decker work and it’s been absolutely brilliant. I like the option to “shape” your route so when planning I can adjust if necessary. Obviously no sat nav is 100% but together with a truckers atlas it’s pretty damn good. You keep calm in what must be a very stressful situation on some of those roads! Keep on trucking 👍🏻

I drive for a living too and I know you're fairly new but you seem to get yourself in these situations a lot. I don't want to doubt your lack of planning but if I was getting sent down these types of places that often I would sack that company off. You do have a great attitude about things though which is refreshing, best of luck to you.

Never trust a sat nav when you are going to a new place. I learnt exactly as you did but a few things can help you no end. Always view on google maps then plan your route accordingly. I have a Garmin Dezl 1000. Good piece of kit but always adjust the route as it can still be a little stupid at times. It always routes me through the centre of Lincoln for example instead of taking the A15 bypass but road knowledge comes through experience. If you have a road closure don't just try and wing it. Find a place to stop and again plan your route. Again I learnt the hard way with that one!

Good vid, I use to enjoy going to farms in my last job due to the challenges it offered. But I’m glad I’ve left the trucking industry and in the early stages of starting my own business up. How truck drivers are treated, and the amount of Increasingly bad drivers including fellow truckers, coupled to time away from home and other hobbies/ interests, personally it’s not worth it. I’ve found over the last month away from the job I’m less stressed I’m eating healthier I’m feeling better and more confident, witch only shows what Trucking can do to people. I obviously still have interest in trucking. Personally the industry needs massive reforms across the bord. But I don’t see any proper changes happening or meaningful changes.

Hi just stumbled onto your site, speaking as a farmer, your first mistake was not trying to phone the farm and get the best route in or ask a colleague. We mostly all have mobile phones and are generally very happy to help give directions. If you can't cope with the bit of mud and dirt perhaps you should stick to motorway work. On reflection it's wrong of me to second guess you, perhaps you were just having a bad day. We all have them. Happy Trucking 😁

Failing that use W3W with a combination of hgv sat nav and google maps for street and satelite view and plan your own route 😎🤘 it would sometimes take me a good 20mins before i even set off 😅 .. I live in locally , where you asked that guy for directions . You had just passed a fenced off yard on your right , that used to be a haulage company called Coulling bros that run a fleet of artics from out of there .

Hahaha. I enjoyed that. In the 30+ I've been driving artic I've can honestly say I've been in every situation and much much worse. Dude don't stress so much, but FFS buy a good map of the UK using a bit of common sense and a good map will save you hours and a cpl of grand.
