i think your message is great for more established people, but for those of us still proving ourselves in the industry i think the "husle" is what can bring us to your position where we can ease off a bit without risking our dreams

Hustle culture is needed for a temporary time for any type of success. Be it business, finace, fitness. Too much will lead to burnout and illness for sure. Balance and dicipline over time is key. Beautiful puppy.

I used to bring my Black Lap to my Computer store with me due to long hours some days. It is gonna be a year before he calms down much. Mine lived to 17 and he was somewhat puppish for 10 years and finally fully calmed down around age 15. Retrievers are great dogs but they are like toddlers for many many years. I miss mine like crazy and wouldn't have had it any other way. ( Shadow 1993-2010 )

Yay for Teddy! For bitey-ness, training him with toys is key. You can't stop him wanting to chew but you can say, "this is yours for chewing, that other thing (a person's arm or hand or whatever) is not yours". It's much easier to divert behaviour than stop it.

What about Moggy? Maybe I missed something along the way … (As a "cat" person I would never consider a dog, but I do see the appeal and the influence a dog might have, if only having to go on walks at least 2 or 3 times a day. ;-))

What a wonderful addition to an otherwise busy lifestyle. Dogs are amazing for having to slow down and just do things that are "in the present". The dreams would be to have a job where that would be possible for me to bring a dog every day.

Scott this is so funny and timely, after a decade of working as a pro, we got a dog the other day, gorgeous little spaniel just 4 days ago, she's already transformed my thoughts on the hustle, the grind and my own work life balance, as you say the forced breaks are great for getting those steps and sunlight, but it also keeps me far more focused when I am back at the desk. The happiness boost is off the charts too, enjoying the videos and its certainly giving me a kick to get uploading again, although I've been enjoying a little time off! Cheers, Tom

Great advice. I find a change in your surroundings and perspective is often helpful to stimulate that thing behind your eyes. In a past life my best ideas came when I was running or cycling, completely removed from my place of work. And I do miss my best fren Dizzy the best companion ever. She kept me honest and grounded, glad Teddy is there to ground you, Scott

Much love to your new studio and creative assistant, Teddy. It's all too easy to get caught up in work, long past the time your being effective. But what's the point of life if you don't stop to smell the roses (or the grass, puddles and people you meet while out in Teddy's case!) 😊

The joy alone of having a dog in my opinion makes you more relaxed. And I know that when I'm relaxed the creative side comes out a lot easier. Plus dogs are great! I saw the joy on your face with him. We had a dog for 16 years. He grew up with the kids and when he passed it hurt, as it should. Said I didn't want one after the last. 6 months later we drove as a family, kids are in the their 20's, for 4 hours to pick him up. It's been almost 3 years and it's the best decision I ever made. He's well trained and when I take him out he just lays down when I need to take a shot. Easy. Have fun with Teddy he looks like he has a great demeanor.

Awww! Loved seeing Teddy and your obvious affection for him. Great illustration of your point. Thank you for your message! I appreciate the reminder at this point in my life. A great book for dog owners is “Wag” by Zazie Todd. It’s a science-based book for raising and caring for a dog. (She has an awesome one for cats too called “Purr”.)

Wait!!! Love the dog, absolutely a great addition regardless of what he may chew. Most dogs are better than most people. But what happened to Mogley(sp?) the cat? Hope he is still alright and just hanging at home.

Get Teddy a two foot long 2x4 as a chew toy. It's safe, Teddy will leave wood chips everywhere, and puppies love to play termite. A 2x4 will not look like any typical puppy toy which are often confused with things you don't want the Dog to eat.

Also found a similar issue recently. Putting in the 9 hour days, everyday, only to feel exhausted and not being very efficient nor coming up with creative ideas. Then I get frustrated and force myself to put in more hours, and so the cycle continues. Maybe I need to consider some forced breaks... thanks for the thinking points as always. P.S. I love this channel even more because of Teddy 🥰

I liked seeing your car and back yard. It's nice to see a little of your life. Teddy is cute. But, what about Moggy? I'm a cat person. Does Moggy get to go to work with you. Moggy was cute sitting in your computer trolly.

I have a Barney in my life... quite literally sometimes, with a wonderful yet very time demanding Cockapoo AKA Sir Barkalot, who features often on the podcast. I know what you mean about not getting so much done when they're around... but I also get a lot of steps in! Your 10,000 will become 15,000 quickly!

Man I wish I watched all of this before I rushed out and bought a dog! haha Hmm, Thing is you can "hustle" like crazy, but you don't actually have to work your arse off every hour of the week to do so. I think we lose track of balance in our lives and become habituated to our new habits/lifestyles. Sometimes you need something to slap you in the face and look at yourself to see what you're actually doing. Sometimes that can be hiring a coach/mentor. Other times it can be going on holiday or starting a new hobby. etc.. But man, I know that happiness you have right now with your pup! Just got a new kitten and it's become best friends with my black lab :D They keep ya busy! Also enjoy moulting season, I'm sure there's a app for Dog hair removal by now though!

Our cat Kelani(Origin:Hawaiian. Meaning: "Of the heavens or sky.") is a ginger marbled Bengal not confirmed but has all the traits and wants to play(and fight us)more than he wants to sleep, so being a home worker I'm constantly needing to make time for play otherwise he just looks for things to do to get into mischief to get attention lol

Ha, I just posted a video about burnout. And, my dog Charlie is part of it. I'm a beekeeper and, I'm trying to be a KZreadr. I have a photography background but, not a successful one. Charlie was a gift two and a half years ago and he has changed my life. Not always in a good way. Dogs take a huge amount of attention if they are to be a successful companion. And, you really should to take that into consideration if you get one.

Chews everything 😂😂😂 puppy and studio = look away costs $1k 😂, my puppy one time chewed the wires to the hot water system chewed the petrol line and wires under the car, even chewed the wall don't ask me how it chewed through a flat wall but it happened 😂😂 joys of puppyhood, enjoy the puppy mate

Important perspective, but the best content might have been the moment that the deadpan expression broke and the sheer joy of a puppy broke through - and isn't that also the point?
