My Big Birding Day. Part 2: Anza-Borrego, Mount Laguna, Acorn Woodpeckers, and more!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This is part 2 of my big birding day. I already posted part 1, so go watch that before you watch this. Part 3 is on its way!
In this video I traveled from the imperial valley agricultural fields to the Anza Borrego Desert, where I saw the Black-throated Sparrow and a few other desert species. Then I went into the mountains where I stopped in Julian, California. I drove through Mount Laguna, where I stopped to see some upland forest species like Acorn Woodpecker, Black-headed Grosbeak, and California Scrub Jay.

I know the difficulty of trying to balance filming and birding. You did a great job. Awesome video man!

Sounds like a hectic and very successful day birding. Thanks a lot for sharing. On your way you could have added a few species with a stop in Agua Caliente, both in the campground and in Squaw canyon. With a detour, an excellent place for quails (California and mountain) in AB is Big Spring and Middle spring (near Culp Valley) with lots of opportunities to see chicks in season. Out of curiosity, are drones allowed in AB and Cuyamaca Rancho state parks?

I kind of am doing this backwards! I will watch part 1...it's just that you honestly caught my attention with this video and I love the kinds of birds you spoke about and brought to the forefront! I was wondering what kind of binoculars are you using here...the cameo ones? Happy birding everyone! New to this world of birdwatching. Just bought a pre-owned vintage binocular 10x42 made by Swift. I am big on recycling and becoming more aware of minimalism. I figured what I always felt throughout my life, someone else's "give-a-way" instead of calling it "garbage" is someone else's new found treasure!

It's cool to see the west coast Big Day birding. I've done over the years many Big Day birding here in Florida. It's interesting to see how different it is. Florida is green, wet, and flat compared with dry desert and mountains in California. 🙂

Just checking out the channel for the first time. Seems like there's a lot of good stuff here that I can learn from. One thing is bugging me though, and maybe it's just me, it seems like the volume levels fluctuate a lot. Like I'll hear your voice and a normal conversation volume and suddenly there's a couple seconds of booming loud bassy music, and then back to normal. Be easier to listen to if the volume got evened out a bit.
