It is a little surprising. So here is a video about how I write in my Bible. I share my color coding system, my how and why of my system, and a bunch of other things.

Chad, I have been working on a set system for years. I’ve done Jason Mayfield’s box method for about 3 years. It has been very good to me, but I’ve began wanting a cleaner look. This has been such a blessing. I can’t wait to get started with this new cleaner system.
My highlight system is: mmmm, i’ve used red too much, maybe i’ll mix some purple for a change… there! Puuuuuurrrfect 👌🏽

A lot of these colors are too close to each other for me to be able to tell the difference between. But I can certainly see how this kind of inductive study can be very fruitful

@@revchadbrooks I totally understand. It’s just my favorite Bible for portability. I have a Schuyler Quentel and an ESV Preaching Bible. The latter has more margin space but they’re so big to lug around. I suppose I can have a Bible to study at home and one on the go. 🤔 Again, I appreciate this video because I’m still struggling to find my style of active studying and what works for me. Edit: name of Bible.

Do the majority of your notes come from prayerful reflection and time with the text. Or are they also inspired by commentaries? Great video!

Mainly my personal devotional time. I occasionally will put stuff in, but that happens maybe 5% of the time.

I just wanted to say... that I have my bibles marked up a lot more than what you have shown... No particular ryhme or reason.. but that doesn't matter.. as long as I can read what I wrote later.... would you recommend NOT using bible commentary notes... to fill in your bible...?...and if Not, why Not ?...I find commentary notes.. written in a wide margin turn a plain no notes bible into a study bible...If I wanted to just write my own devotions in a bible...I don't think I could do better than Matthew Henry...besides.. that is why I keep a daily journal.... I am going on my 7th year now....I use ...Coffman..Barclay.. Tynedale..I.C.C.. Pulpit Commentary ....Preachers Homelitic.. Biblical Illustrator... Langes...Grays...Anchor.... Joseph Exell ..Willis....Sacra Pagina.....Ellicott.....Nichollson..Gaebeleins...Keil and Deilitzch... Jamison Faucet and Browne...Dods...Expositors.. Calvin .. Barnes... Interpretation Commentary...the Word Commentary... Pillar Commentary... the International Commentary...Laymans... Ironside... Communicators,.Commentary....Joseph Parker... to name a few.. Not counting others such as Leon Morris...Robert Haldane...oh and MacArthur...and many many more....
No offense but are you telling us “why” you mark your Bible and the history behind that or did i click on a “how” i mark my Bible video🤔
