My Best DIY Cup and Rod Holders Part 1

Спорт

Lightweight is my new obsession. Over the years, I always come back to the reality that if a vessel is easy to move around, you're more likely to use it. And that is often the key to catching more fish and having as much fun as you can while you paddle. In the past, I have been guilty of getting carried away with gadgets and gimmicks on my kayaks and it always leads to more problems and hassles. And that keeps me from taking them out sometimes, so, I meant to keep the canoe in this build as light as possible. I think it worked out pretty good.

Hey guys. For those not wanting to drill so many holes, if money is no object (that is you do not have a 3 in pvc pipe handy and need to buy one) in Lowes or Home Depot, go to plumbing section where they sell giant pvc pipe and they actually sell pre-drilled schedule 20. It won't be as fancy and you won't get satisfaction of drilling so many holes but it is an option. I think its schedule 20 drainage pipe or whatever its called. Really cool project.

The cup holders are a cool design. My only concern is your mounting method. I would worry that hull flex could create tension between the two screw locations.

hey Marty, I am working on hacking an intex 200. it only weighs 3 pounds! LOL I put an old 8 pound 12lb thrust Shakespeare on it. It also rows with aluminum oars. I am going to see if it will go downwind with my umbrella. I change the speeds with my foot. It is more stable than I thought sitting on the bottom. But zero room to carry stuff inside so I am working on that. Low weight is fun. I will post a video on it soon. I love your PVC hack. someone told me years ago PVC was urban ivory.
