Andrew, Yes, you have worked VERY hard. I understand that filming and editing is laborious, tedious, time consuming, etc. I LOVE you and your channel. And it looks like I am not alone. Not only the most creative, but most cost effective.

Andrew, there are so many things i want to say. . . I love your beautiful spirit, and watching you this year has always been a highlight of any day you drop a video. I love your work, I enjoyed all of your videos and the work you have done. What i love the most is that you normalize thrifted-recycled-reclaimed materials for your home and art. Your rooms have so much of you in them and i love that! I watch the big DIY shows, and I love Magnolia. . .but those rooms always look like instillations and you don’t see the people in them. My whole house has a bohemian quality and it is the result of 40 years of living, traveling, thrifting, inheriting and antiquing as well as creating (i am a costume designer and avid quilter) and this curating over a lifetime (weather it is 10 years or 40) makes your home unique to you. You have elevated this way of life to a new level and i hope more people will follow you. Go in peace, and i hope the new year is as beautiful as your spirit is.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts! I absolutely agree that homes should reflect the people in them… partly because we should feel comfortable and reflected there and partly because it makes for much more unique spaces!

About the range hood: it’s reminiscent of a chimney, and to my mind, is beautiful and unique-unique because of the material you used. You can certainly add art, either two or three dimensional, to it and not lose that sense.

Love your honesty and transparency! you forgot to mention your AMAZING workspace! I feel it is 100 % your style! full of asymmetry, creativity, and old things reimagined! The essence of reissued!! Thanks for sharing!

All of your projects were really inspirational this year, Andrew, and I'm so glad I found your channel. However, your fine art projects are the ones that most inspired me to keep creating (and try to sell) my own art, and I'm so very glad that I have one of your pieces hanging in my house now. It's hung at the top of my stairs and I just love it.

I love your unique 'reissued' art pieces and I'm sure that the acrylic wash to add an aged look works well in that context, but putting an amber wash in the bathroom surrounded by so much bright white tile seems like it wouldn't be a good mix imo. Happy 2024...can't wait for more reissued goodness!

I thought the same thing about the Amber wash. Love it as is….

If I do a painting and feel iffy about it, then I take a pic and put it as wallpaper on my screen. Constant glimpses at it help me figure out the problems. Looking at it upside down also helps a lot. Range hood. The shape and high contrast make it the focal point of the room (judging from the pics). The stark change from plaster walls to wood slats enhance the contrast. An exhaust fan should not upstage everything else. Possible solutions: paint it the same color as the walls, ceiling color might be better? Maybe continue the upper horizontal wall trim strip around it, then paint the top the ceiling color? Then break it again with the door trim at the door height? Add some bold things, thin shiny things on either side of it, too bad no space for shelves. Just throwing out ideas, but making it look like it is a built in part of the room would help minimize it visually. The best I can come up with ATM is: to wrap that upper section with that same wall trim at that height. Fill that in smooth so it looks like part of the wall and paint it the ceiling color. At the top of the door height, extend that door trim around it, use the wall color on that part to the upper trim. You could add that wreath or clock to this middle section to repeat the top of the blue hutch. Bottom, use a thin shelf/plate rail from the door all the way around to the other wall and use some plates, or whatever. This "seems like" it would minimize it and integrate it into the room. IDK.

I feel just the same - it IS possible to plan and pull something off perfectly so it can be frustrating when that’s not the case with every single thing in your life. I think my favorite has to be the bathroom with the painted wall paper. But I love all the projects you've done. You're such a perfectionist, that's your best asset and also your biggest challenge. So sad to hear that your Dad's car way totaled, but very glad he's ok. Can't wait to see what you do in 2024. Congratulatons for all you've achieved so far.

For the sheen on the bathroom wall, I think it's a great idea esp. since br usually have satin sheen paint. I suggest you make a test panel on plywood to test colors and number of coats .

I’ve been following you for quite awhile this year and have commented several times. I feel you are an old soul. I’m drawn to everything you do and am so impressed with what you’ve achieved. You remind me of my best friend, he lives in an 1890’s beautiful Richardsonian Romanesque building in Denver Co. He has the insight and passion that you do. Anyway, I love your house and use of color, design and imagination. It’s such a precious home, even from the outside. Your kitchen is Fab, the hood over the stove is great and yes it tall and I’m sure you will figure out what changes will work to maybe break up the height of it. I see you as a perfectionist and I understand what can drive someone like you nuts. I am a full blown perfectionist myself, so I understand. Your studio, bedroom, front porch are great. The carpet tile rug is interesting and maybe you just haven’t found the right place for it. You mentioned that you move things around a lot and I can relate to that because I own a home full of antiques and found treasures that I shift around quite often. It’s taken me years to feel comfortable about with where it is now. I finally after many years feel that my home is dialed in. Second guessing decisions is something I’m sure you deal with too. I’m a fan of Joanna Gaines as well , but I’m obsessed with everything…decorating, art and design too. Your inspirations come from great places. And like myself you appreciate design from generations as long as it’s good design. I live with antiques , but also love modern. Oh, and incidentally I love the wooden fruit 🍎 🍇 .. I also love the relationship you have with your parents and I adore little Queenie too. It’s fun and a pleasure to watch what you’ve achieved and will continue to do. Keep calm and carry on. 🌈

Honestly I think your willingness to post parts of projects, things that haven’t gone as exactly as planned and choices you might now make differently is why your channel is gaining traction…it’s real life diy. Seeing only perfectly finished rooms and successful projects can be a discouraging. Seeing the real process, 😢warts and all, is helpful to me to just get over myself and get started 👍🏼

I found you with the stained glass video. So many cool ideas, very inspiring. Yes home fatigue, thought it was just me. I found that repurposing something from one room to another usually does the trick. Keep up the good work.

Comments really help your algorithm so I leave as many as possible. Threads of arguments are the best, but don't want to start that. As an architect/landscape architect/artist, I have some comments and am jealous that you can get some negative critiques. Those are the most constructive. Most people are afraid to be rude, but if they can point out something I overlooked, or just ugly, I am grateful. I believe people are tired of the polished vids, your rough cut approach is so much more interesting, AND REAL. I am struggling to understand interiors, I thought with a strong design background it would be very easy, it is not for me. I find it almost impossible to not to be biased by trends. Some channels, and you know who they are, money is no object. I cannot just order the perfect thing I need. So, it is a matter of analyzing exactly what I don't like about what I have, then figure out if I can make it work. I get really lucky sometimes but have my share of failures. The most striking thing you've done is the 1/2 bath sink against that crocodile wall paper. The tension or juxtaposition there is the thing that makes it so interesting. I like your workroom a lot and most other things but that one thing is genius.

I think it' good for perfectionists to encounter unforeseen obstacles and be forced to reevaluate sometimes. I think you're doing such a fantastic job and I really didn't see any of your "fails" as fails. Always love seeing what you'll come up with next.

I might be your only follower that has not watched the kitchen video, so i am going to do tgat right now. Also.....there is nothing wrong with creating couture bespoke halloeen costumes for your dog. In my life i have accepted that there are times where your just 'too hip for the room'. Your bigest success is your excitement and thoughtfullness for the process, and how well you present yourself. I have a feeling that you have created a quite loyal following and predict great things to come. In closing, i was not expecting another video from you this year, so finding this today on my birthday was a great treat, smiled the whole way through seeing so much zeal for my projects reflected in you. Love all of the renovations to your home. The porch, kitchen and bedroom are my favorite although I have to say I like it all.

Even if there are some imperfections in your projects, you must look at the whole picture. What I have learned is that the important thing is to go into a room and feel good about it or even pause for a second and say to yourself "what a beautiful space I have created ". As far as the bath wall glazing quandary, Andrew, I would certainly create a sample before attacking the actual wall. You could use a 2 ft square piece of wall board which would allow you to test 4ea. 1-foot squares before settling on your choice. I think your goals as a YT Vlogger should drive your downloaded projects. If your vlogs are an expression of your life via your projects, then the view counts should not be an issue. Not all submissions have to be 'Princess' projects. If your goal is to use YT as a primary income source, then yes, the view numbers will matter, and you would probably need to be more selective about your vlogs submissions and their editing. Personally, I tend to be more attracted to organically produced content. While I will occasionally subscribe to heavily produced content, those channels are usually the first ones I get bored with and eventually unsubscribe. (blah, blah, blah) Anyhoo, Cheers for a great winter holiday and a brighter new year in 2024. 🥳🍾

I subscribed to you after seeing your kitchen renovation, I love your ability to put together found objects and recycled materials. This transcends any trend or fashion and gives a space a timeless, unique feel. My home is nearly completely furnished with thrifted items. My friends love my home and tell me it feels warm and homely, which is exactly how I try to make it. As an artist, my living areas are full of my work, and I kind of treat it like an open studio/gallery. I’m happy when I sell one, because it makes room for another, and the space is constantly changing. Keep up the great work; it’s a rare thing to find someone’s taste that resonates so much with mine!

Happy Holidays, Andrew! I appreciate that you do not follow trends but express and explore your style. Everything looks wonderful: the colors, geometry, artwork, and balance. Youd did clever and aesthetic work such as the pass-through to the living room and the use of cleats in the office. The geometric rug experiment reminds me of my earlier attempts at making images with fabric. Making the triangles and etcetera fit is tricky. Of all your re-examination of "reissues," you had clear insights that were also helpful to us. In response to request for feedback, please do not put sepia or burnt sienna on the bathroom mural. You can try a clear coat first and live with that for a while. That said, what a great year you have shared with us! Thank you.

First, I’m so glad your dad is ok! Car accidents are scary. Andrew, you have put so much work into your channel and it shows. I happen to be one of your viewers who absolutely loves everything you do and the creativity and vision you possess. I’m living in my condo for 3 years and still unsure where to hang art, furniture placement, why did I buy this, and the list goes on. I believe that’s where trying to get it perfect sabotages me 😂. I relate to this so much! I say move around what you have, hang the art that you love, and see what happens! You can always make changes but finding those initial starting points - a piece of furniture, a color, a pattern - can give you something to go off. I know how hard it is to start from a blank canvas!

One trick for non-aesthetic bathroom bottles is to remove the labels if possible. Just streamlines the look.

I also agree with your idea about hanging art on the range hood, just to break up the monstrosity of it. But you have to be careful that the grease and oil molecules don't float up onto the art. And, depending on what kind of stuff you cook, I would discourage hanging anything between the range and the range hood. They're grease catchers.

Merry Christmas to your parents, and Queenie and You too I guess ;) I think your kitchen video was my favourite video of the year, not only because it was an awesome video, but it was the first video of yours I saw, and introduced me to you. And ok, here goes . . . as for making mistakes . . . you do not have the life experience to look at a project and know what all to do in what steps to have it turn out perfect. I'm twice your age (or at least was till your most recent birthday and have been building and making all my life, and I'll let you in on a secret, I don't have the life experience either! If you knew me in person, and we ever worked on a project and asked if something would work, chances are I'd say "Let's try it and see" We learn more from our failures than we do our successes, (and man I've learned lots . . .) the trick is to learn to say OK, it's done, next time I'll do it like this. And trends . . . trends are nice to know, they act like a barometer give an indication of what's going on, and what's coming, but in the end, for some of us they are more a 'map?' to our style, not the destination, I've been in my house since the mid 1980s . . . some of my design style has come and gone at least 4 times in that period . . . anyway I guess that's about it, looking forward to what the new year brings from you, and I'll keep watching and making inane comments to help out the algorithm.

Your painted "wallpaper" is already at the next level. A clear finish over it so it still matches the tiled area below it would be great, and might protect the paint from moisture. But if you glaze it a color, glaze the tile,too.

My favourite transformation is the bedroom and nook. Have a wonderful Christmas time (& I’m pleased dad is ok!!!)

Your kitchen video was the first one I saw and knew that I wanted to see more. Love your style it's similar to mine but more masculine in a way. Regarding hanging your own art and seeing the flaws I find that part of the fun and learning for the next piece, to analyse it over time and see what works and not. And if you end up hating something you can always change it out or change the painting itself

Hello Andrew! what a year! YES I found you through the kitchen video and i also don't like or follow trends. As it happens I was also doing my kitchen (have an old shack) and I am in favour of an Un-kitchen. I didn't want my kitchen to look the way a kitchen is thought of these days. That is why your videos are so interesting to me, I am interested in exploring ways of doing things that speak to me. You keep doing that in every video and it is like a lesson for me everyday on how that process happens. I have showed your video to a few friends and they all liked you the same way too. It is watching you and who you are that stands out in your videos. Your creative personal process is fantastic.

Yes, glazing is the first thing that came to my mind when you said the bird wallpaper is too flat! Regarding the shampoo dispenser etc. you could go a middle way and buy some soap/shampoo in a nice bottle and fill that up over & over. A brown glass, apothecary looking one for example. Regarding trends: I'd love to hear your opinion/perspective on different interior (and other) stuff. What also interests me a long time (is that a sentence?) is your view/opinion on the stars and stripes /what it means to you.

Hi Andrew! Yes kitchen videos, I would pick those as my favorites because they're how I found you 🙂. Love all your videos though including Halloween Couture 😉 . I prefer 'flat' paint. So many existing glossy finishes are in your bathroom already so I feel the flat contrast and a lack of sheen is needed {at least that's how it comes across to me through video}. A bathroom can tend to read/feel cold and unwelcoming with overabundance of shiny surfaces. I like the classic formula of 'color, pattern, texture, shine' . Washer/dryer perfect as they are, I like how they are juxtaposed to nearby warm dark wood element and soft frosted un-shiny glass to balance out the glossy white metal and cream. Indeed annoying put a lot of time into a project, then have it not turn out. Again, wishing you your parents and Queenie a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2024!

Won't darkening your walls make them look dirty since they are against the white tile? Interior designers' solution would be to warm it up with wood and earth colored pastels. You could try that? BTW. I thought of some solutions to hide your washer and dryer, one might work?

I found your channel during the front porch. Makeover and i've loved every episode i've seen I don't always agree with every choice that you make. However I love your vision in the way you see things As for the dresser and the legs Is a reinterpretation of something that's gone on for hundreds and maybe thousands of years the closer legs with either. An arch a curve Or a scroll and I'll love your interpretation of it Is great you are not the first one to do something like this So for all the naysayers spend more time looking around the world at different things. In different countries and health things are done. Um you will be open to a plethora of new things I have not traveled the entire world. But I have traveled to many different countries and have loved learning and finding different ways to think and find things in different directions. Don't stay in the same box

I totally understand about the creative process and being critical of every imperfection, real or perceived. If you figure out how to really do that, put it in a video. That will go viral for sure. The perfectionist struggle is no joke!

Yes, the fruit! The hand painted wallpaper is just so stunning, it's incredible that you did that yourself. It's my favorite, and that's saying a lot cause there are a lot of fantastic projects you've tackled this year. Definitely test the glaze first!😅Oh, and don't talk about trends, just own your gray

Why don't you varshish or seal with a shear tint on the "wallpaper"

I've enjoyed watching your journey through your videos. Your candid approach and willingness to be vulnerable with your viewers are refreshing, and I appreciate you are comfortable acknowledging where there were bumps or potholes along the way. Understanding your thought process makes you more relatable. Moreover, it prepares viewers for their struggles if your videos inspire them. I’m glad your Dad is recovering from his accident. Hi.. what a fabulous catch up. PLEASE, change your product packaging. It bothers me so much. Find containers, mix it up, but PLEASE DO IT. I have very old Martha Stew book, once when I went back to look at them, she had a dish soap sitting on her sink, it gave me a chuckle. You are so talented , think about a book… but change your product package. I found you at the porch reverb. Love everything you do.

I actually really like the tile rug with the table and chairs on it, but I can also see why it could be hard to style. Found you from the kitchen video (I think, it was a while ago)

I really enjoy hearing your artistic approach to Reno, DIY, and art. To be able to share your thought process is so wonderful for us as your followers. When it happens to us we wonder if we are the only ones. To hear that someone thinks and reacts as we do is so reaffirming. 15 years ago when I became a widow I purchased a house that had been a rental for ten years. It was a wreck. But the bones, layout and location were just right. I did have the cash to have it gutted and redone to my vision which was English cottage. I made about 200 decisions in the space of 30 days. Any 15 years later I have only one regret. My house is me. As I am growing older, I am now facing some challenges. L

I found you from upcycle clothing shortly before you got your home. I say no to trends and it seems unrealistic to contractually be redecorating for the average person. I think artsy eclectic taste is timeless and if your space has your personality is what is important, not following trends and color palettes. If you spent all your time contemplating every possible eventuality, you might never start! Like your art that you let evolve, projects need to go through the process.

Very interesting to hear your review. I am anti-trend myself. I have loved everything you did. Annoying about nobody using the powder room but it's gorgeous so who cares. My favourite is the black and white bathroom and your wallpaper. If you need more warmth can you get that with a change of bulb/lighting? I like the stark black and white it's so art deco but I don't have to use it of course. I like a free standing TP holder, on mine you stack spare rolls on the pole. Your kitchen is fabulous too. Honestly I'd move in and change nothing 👏👏👏. Thanks for all the videos Andrew. Looking forward to seeing what you (and your folks) get up to in 2024 and RIP the car🚗🖤
