    Footwork can be decent for 2H hammer or sword guys so they can get into position to swing and hit 3 enemies. It’s stamina intensive, but it would work best with the anatomist’s goblin potion that reduces the footwork cost to 10.

    I was looking for just a comment to upvote but i just couldn't. I'm a recent sub who I guess watches enough BB content to be suggested channels but yeah as we know, there's a depth to Battle Brothers. So as someone who has played since the early years, it is SO GOOD that you are making these sort of videos. You plainly state at the start, 'wanna have fun, then do what you want' and then delve into how you feel the skills resonate with you. This kind of captures I feel why BB didnt end when it did, people kept noticing it at just the right interval that 'yup, i'm gonna try and own this' And no one ever did. The complexity and depth of the mechanics translates enough to bring characters / builds to life. To make it short (and not that i couldn't go on) but great video! And i think it contributes to wide array of BB fanbase from whatever game they found it from, that it's worth playing.. and worth analysing. And best of luck! Play how you wanna play always seems to rise higher than 'this is how you beat the game' and I like that. And in that echo, well done for showing people along with how they'd like to play.

    I also think footwork is pretty bad, even with the fatigue decrease from 25 to 20. I did build a nimbleforged “throwtank” recently who had decent fat, and epic HP, RAtk and MDef stats, and put this bro on my front right with a shield and jav. I used footwork to either throw or get into better bodyblocking positions. It felt like a tank build that you could actually bring to every fight, but it’s also an ultra-niche build and probably only good for fixed/12 roster

  • @Crimmo877
    @Crimmo8772 жыл бұрын

    I don't use archers much anymore, maybe have just a couple in the roster to help with goblins. But when I've got them, especially while levelling them, almost every second turn they don't have a target that's above 20% hit chance. Bullseye makes them actually able to hit targets that the AI is good at defending. And honestly, I've got the spare perk point to blow on an archer.

  • @CarveaHole

    @CarveaHole

    2 жыл бұрын

    Make them archer thrower hybrids, much more effective. Then you won't have the perk for bullseye, but the damage per fight is increased greatly.

  • @tirptirp
    @tirptirp2 жыл бұрын

    I heavily disagree with bullseye. Archers are not good but they are the best at one thing. Killing soft targets that are high priority e.g. gunners, necro, bannermans and more. Those guys hardly approach your frontliners and almost always hide behind allies. That's why it's so good for archers. It doubles your chances of hitting targets that needs to be killed fast. It's not a bad play to start sniping those guys before you get rid of their frontline. You will always be able to kill them first before their frontline breaks if you have bullseye. The other play is just to go around but that's still worse. It will take you what, 3-4 turns to go around and snipe but with bullseye I can kill soft targets in just 1-3 rounds if bullseye is coupled with FA (which is another great perk for sniping archers). Haven't finished the vid yet just really wanted to say it now.

  • @raifsevrence

    @raifsevrence

    Having multiple high class archers can be very helpful for certain fights. After Blazing Deserts was added, archers lost a lot of their appeal. I used to always take 1-2 maxed archers into a fight to snipe choice targets. These days I don't even bother. The difference in utility between archers and gunners is incomparable. A pair of maxed gunners with 90+ ranged, high resolve and Fearsome is a murderous duo if you do your part to position your enemies.

  • @tirptirp

    @tirptirp

    @@raifsevrence I agree that gunners have more utility and I would say that Xbow hybrid have more utility than archers but my point is if u want a sniper, then no one beats archers. They have the most range and accuracy at long distance(yes they are more accurate vs xbow at long range) and some times u would want that. And the bullseye perk is needed for that. So it's not usless.

    Footwork is mandatory for any backline that’s not designed to go in melee imo, it’s the most used active in my games lol I start to take on orc warriors only after this perk. I don’t think Colossus is as good as many people believe, how often do you take hp damage to the point colossus matters? It’s great as an early tempo or nimble which are early bros. Pathfinder is insane, tripple s tier I take on everybody.I don’t use taunt or rotate at all so no comment. Every polearm guy has backstabber, they are pure dps, nothing better than more hit chance. I don’t know why people think swords and spears are inferior, they are the most used weapon types for my frontline, great zoning, hit chance, fatigue economy, I build shield duellist hybrid, they turn into dps on demand by dropping shields when not in difficult position. I don’t find hammer mace that great mastery, too high fatigue for single hand and you don’t need it for 2 hand, all my two handed goes sword mastery for aoe, and just grab a mace, hammer for specific fights. Axe is great for breaking shield wall line, the mastery helps a lot, also it’s needed for a man splitter.

    I'd argue that running executioner on everybody instead of fearsome alongside injury weapons like maces, hammers, crossbows, etc. is definitely a good tactic. I wouldn't go fearsome + executioner though: Not only will you have to shave basically mandatory perks, you'll also be double problems against undead which sucks if you want to beat the monolith. It'd be insanely hard to calculate, but the morale checks of the bonus dmg from executioner vs. The morale dmg from fearsome would be interesting to say the least.

    Footwork just seems like a generally bad perk. All my throwers get a similar equipment loadout and specs: Heavy armor + kite shield, 3 sets of throwing weapons (preferably heavy axes) + sword/spear and a whip. They generally stay out of zoc melee situations, but in the event they get engaged, they can defend themselves. I don't take more than 2 of them into a fight except on rare occasions.

    Not very relatable but I use Bullseye for my master archer in BB Legends mod with full fatigue and ranged skill/nimble/triple shot (will explain)/berserk and such classical dps perks and 3 unhold hide arrows storage (not english, forgot name) and fast hand for easy reload. Basically triple shot allow you to shoot 3 arrows at a target with the same Action Point and increased stamina as vanilla, cost 3 arrows ofc, slightly worse odds of hit. Arrows have also kinda same behavior as vanilla shot (can hit ennemies on the side if missed). You can combine this with debuf Overwelm (stacking defs decrease) afaik. It turn my archer into a mix between a machinegun and a sniper. Don't really have to worry about ennemies ranged (even the best famed, or witches) since I can melt them, and it's also efficient to weed out huge wave of trash units coming packed, efficient up to medium armoured ennemies included, and can scare them easily (only hp ennemies such as Nach are getting shredded to). The beefiers ones are taken by the rest of my bros. Cost some arrows though. And the Legend mod has even a perk to shoot at point blank range afaik. Unsure tho since it's been a while I didn't played. Your vids that I sumbled upon gave me the need to go back to it. Edit: you have also access to piercing shot (hit 2 ennemies in a line, if the ennemy ranged is hiding behind a friend). All in one between the archer and sorcerer it easy to dominate ranged foes and weed out huge waves, if properly maxed/geared, leaving the tough nuts to the others. And you have additionals perks points granted every 5 levels by the mod anyway (a blessing considering all of the perks possible it add to even a trash bro who doesn't have a lots of tree perks unlocked).

    Basically all you need is Pathfinder and weapon spec. The premise is to take someone with good attack and defense but bad stam or HP and make them useable. Usually go battleforged with ~100 stam + brawny. You want a pool of 24 stam (it's for injury mitigation) after all your gear. Fortified mind and fearsome are usually given perks as well, cause by not pumping stam you can get more resolve which means better fearsome.

  • @aylictal

    Its the go to spec for retired soldier since they usually have shit hp and fatigue but godlike mdef and matk. The important perk that you dont take on them is berserk because they just cant afford the fatigue to utilize it, and you opt for just more raw stats. The spec for battleforged variant (which is most common) is: Colossus, Pathfinder, Steelbrow, Quickhands, Gifted, Brawny, Weaponspec, Underdog, Battleforged, Killing Frenzy. If they have super high resolve, you can opt to swap gifted for fearsome, or if their resolve is very very low, swap gifted for fortified mind.

    I have really been liking bullseye for archers. Things get very profitable if you can take out that hexe or necromancer super early in the battle, and they like to hide behind things. I run into a lot of soft targets that hang way in the back and wreck your company from there with their sorcery. Also crossbowmen can do a lot of damage before you chase them down, and an archer with bullseye and crippling strikes will dominate x2 crossbow guys and injure them and diminish their threat.

    Ooo. A perk vid for my birthday. lol Fatigue Neutral has only been popular for months? I guess me and wilra were using Fatigue Neutral builds like at least two years before it was cool. Fatigue Neutral 2handed mace bros are love. /hipstershades. Taunt saw a small increase in popularity just before whips came out, then whips caused people to memory hole it :c I still use it. Kind of interesting how the meta flipped on Bows/Crossbows. Used to be, everyone thought Crossbows were useless. Handgonne so gud. New Headhunter's got me wanting to do a Deserter Crossbow company again, for that first-turn adrenaline volley. Crippling Strikes on Blunt Weapons is sometimes worthwhile, due to the amount of blunt injuries that impact enemy's chance to hit. And, yeah, I think it's going to go really well with the new headhunter due to concussion and cracked skull. I toss Resilient on as the very last perk choice for my standardized 1handed mace/shield fodder bros that don't make the cut for anything else. All eggs in the chance to hit basket on perks, chance to hit then becomes a defense via stun. The ones that survive are destined to become benchwarmers, but having them as anti-Hexen in my back pocket is nice. Backstabber is great for Disarm/Stun spam bros who don't want to miss, even through shields. I usually put it on bannerman since he doubles as my whip guy. Also good on an early flail guy you wants to dome heads to earn you armor.

    I mention the excellent tier list by Gravebees and Sins. I couldn't top that, so I wanted to do something different. I think it'd be vain to try and steer attention away from their tier list onto mine. Thank you for the compliment :)

    A lot of people wrongfully think student is a must, but actually offensive perks level you just as fast just from kills alone while being effective, i never take student at all, it's basically a wasted perk. Fast adaptation, Best perk you have for melee bros period early/mid/late game your men miss a lot and even though it's just a chance anything that helps you hit is just a must, Crippling strikes, nine lives (nerfed but still better than colossus), fortified mind, steel brow (optionable), bags and belt (optionable). That is my early level 4-5 build for melee/stunbros, you can call it Mr. Reliable because that's what it is. After all that i also take Recover, quick hands and of course rotation Gifted is definitely a nice perk also which i take later on. I've tested it many times and offensive/defensive perks>training perks any day of the week.

    I think student is worth taking late in a campaign to power level someone you can leave in the back. At that point you're stabilized in your roster and you know the guy is making it to 11.

    tanks dont need steel brow they have like 90+ mdef and never get hit. It's good for 2h hammer/axe/mace builds with like ~38 mdef. Also footwork is a no brainer for the thrower archer build. Carvea logic = dont take your thrower archer to chosen fights because he doesent have footwork instead of just giving him footwork LOL

  • @CarveaHole

    @CarveaHole

    No, footwork is pretty bad on those builds. That's a whole perk that you can put into much better things like fearsome, Pathfinder, etc. Most fights you won't use it, so to take it purely for chosen fights and only for when you get run on to is not a good choice.

    Not necessarily a bad choice. It'll help you early game as a tempo perk, but you likely won't use it much late game. If they're SUPER GOOD END GAME material then yeah I'd skip it. If you're stabilized as a company, then you will find yourself not needing to pick it as much anymore

    @@CarveaHole Thanks for the advice. I'm on day 29 on my first Veteran run and I can't seem to decide what perks I should pick. For the last couple of days my company has been fighting battles with, among others, four promising level 5 bros who have two unused perk slots because I can't make up my mind :D. Currently, I dont use Brawny. Its a waste perk all the game, except maybe pure BF mammoths, that need every bit of stamina for their indom. At the beggining, they are better perks like FA, Colossus..., mid game, you're making nimble bros o maybe FN with the armour from heroe undead or chosen, an in late, the famed armor (and you gonna use this type of armor) gonna surpass the problem from the high fatigue. And if you want to use it, the thing is that brawny doesnt give you a high quantity of stamina, so you dont earn too much from this perk. And if you want something more less heavy, maybe a nim+forged its better. (For nearly all the combats, like Scraths, goblings, orcs... and they are better dealing with chosen and his deadfull maces that can take you 20 to 30 hp without nimble) FN, dont use brawny, nimble, dont use brawny, maybe battleforged? But the problem its that how many fatigue you earn from brawny? 10 fatigue for 30kilos? Not enough to justify a perk, more if a bro is good with stam from the beggining (and if you gonna build a BF bro, that means that his stam gonna be incredible high BTW, making redundant brawny) And the last nail is, that if a brother gonna have problems with the fatigue armor, that brother still its not good for him to use a very heavy armor and its better something between mid armor or light armor or just, Neutral Fat. And sadly, they arent so many guys that can be excellent BF bros with high stam.

    I am gonna assume you are talking about a three-headed flail. Well it's dangerous only when you get to low HP. Well in that particular scenario yeah. Last time i played nine lives always worked once. The way i see nine lives is the insurance from random death. It literaly works when it's needed. Steel brow only works with head hits. If you have braincells you won't put your bros in situations where they can die after nine lives is gone. Here's analogy. A nuclear warhead drops on you bro with nine lives and on your bro with steel bro. Guess who survives. Try fighting lundwurms with nine lives and see what i am talking about.
