SophieMariaxx I was so healthy until my first surgery in 2013. Then it was all down hill. Severe RA, Avascular Necrosis and Fibromyalgia came out of nowhere. 3 surgeries in 5 years. 2013.2016.2017. Left ankle surgery. Right knee surgery. Right total hip replacement surgery. And now waiting for a right wrist surgery 😭. I am only 34 I don't even know how I got it. These symptoms were moving so fast for my body, deteriorating swelled up to the max from shoulders to the bottom of my feet. I just added you on SC and IG. Maybe I can share my stories too.

I also have another autoimmune disease, Celiac disease, and think once you have one that predestines you to another. Boo. I appreciate your thoughts and hope all is going better for you.

So good you have spoken out about it thank you. I am 27 and I was diagnosed when I was 15. I refused to get the biopsy so they put me under to get it done which was fine. So glad your meds are working now. I'm on just azathiroprine which is working well. I worked full time and had a baby now I'm part time while my baby is young. I go by listening to my body and when it's tired i let it rest. Totally annoying about not being able to take meds when your sick I had a c section with my daughter and it was a hard recovery but so worth It. How bad is the tiredness right? Once again thanks for speaking out its good to have ppl to talk to when your going through something like this. Xxx

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I've been diagnosed with AiH for over 15 years now, like yourself since I was 18. I've tried various drugs (Budecinide and Tacrolimus) but the only ones that kept my liver from flaring was the first combo of prednisolone and Azathioprine. I'm worried about the long term affects of the steroids, but the day to day is fine. Interesting you talk about not being able to take medication as that's never been mentioned to me. Whilst avoiding alcohol is the way to go, I've always figured that the alcohol content in medication has been small enough not to worry about. One to check with my specialist. Anyway, I hope the new medication dosage worked for you. One thing the doctor might start doing are ultrasounds of your liver. Absolutely painless, just a little time consuming. But if your liver isn't scarred like mine, then your probably a few years away from that. All the best :)

Hi Soph, I don’t know if you still read these comments but I wanted to say thank you for making this video! I was just diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis about a month ago (I’m 21). When I told my family (a lot of which are in the medical field) they acted like I was going to die which worried me but watching your has made me feel a lot more settled in my diagnosis. I’ve also suffered from severe chronic migraines since I was 16 so I sort of already know the pain of being in and out of doctors all the time as you would know! But can agree that getting a liver biopsy was one of the most traumatic things I’ve been through too! I hope you’re still going well and life is treating you kindly. ❤️ Larna

SophieMariaxx I've got vitiligo (a skin condition that takes pigment away completely). It's stress related, and coupled with a sleep disorder I had for 6 years, it's been a journey to try to get back to a healthy place. Even now, I'm a bit behind most people my age in several respects, but I'm just trying to focus on the happy moments of my unique life 😌 I'm so sorry you have to deal with so much. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. My husband will be having a liver biopsy in a few days . His Dr belies he too has autoimmune hepatitis due to very high ALT on his lab test. He was having pre op labs for a scheduled surgery to remove a tumor from his kidney when they found that his liver enzymes were high. It’s a very scary and frustrating thing to go through especially not knowing much about it. I’ve been researching and found some people have stated they reversed the condition by going gluten and sugar free so we’re trying that. It’s only been 2 weeks but we’re hopeful! Please continue to share your journey and any helps you may have learned we would so appreciate it! I hope this message finds you healthy & happy! Blessings 💕

I have AIH too! I was diagnosed at age 16 and I am now 25. I actually just met people for the first time about a year ago with the disease. You should do some research on autoimmune hepatitis groups. I went to AIH convention and it was amazing for me. There were so many Dr’s there with so much info, but meeting people who struggle with the same issues I do made me feel not so alone. This disease sucks, but you learn to live your “normal”.

In my mid twenties now - still on meds, and not a single person I know can relate to what I have - I’m a musician in LA and when I say I don’t drink I get the weirdest looks... thanks for this video. It truly is an invisible disease - but the side effects have consequences that can be very visible. Cheers for the video. I’ll was about to make one myself out of anger - but to see you chill and optimistic helped a lot. Btw I told the doc to bug off and I stopped taking aza too.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am a Norwegian boy who was diagnosed with AIH in 2011, and i'm turning 20 in a month. Had incredibly high ALT/AST levels, and got put on 60mg of prednisolone each day for several months, which was literally hell. Got the condition under control after about a year. The first medications i got didn't work, so i quickly changed to different meds which usually only transplanted pantients get, but it worked. I would say my condition is in remission. Ive still been on a low dose of steriods, like 5mg ea day (sometimes ea other day) to prevent flare ups, as you mentioned in your video. So my liver has very rarely gotten inflammatory again. My doctors hope to wait out my puberty phase, and then try to lower down on meds, in hope of making the body accept the liver again. Here in Norway there is quite the drinking culture, so it's been kinda hard and frustrating to be a teen in this society, and have to explain why i can't drink to my friends and new people i meet... Anyways, i am an active teenager despite my condition, trying to eat healty, training regularly, doing martial arts etc, so besides taking medications and getting sick at rare occations, i don't really notice any side effects, which i'm glad for :)

I’ve had 2 operations and i also have alpha 1 antitripsin deficiency and a lung problem and a kidney problem and I also had parvovirus which yes is a virus from dogs! I was diagnosed in December of 2019, I was 43. I had abnormal liver panels on and off for a few years, my doctor chalked it up to poor diet and being over weight. However, even after I lost over 20 lbs and was eating much healthier my numbers did not drop as much as they thought they would/should. She (my now former primary care doctor) then accused me of being a closet alcoholic 🤦🏻‍♀️ I insisted I wasn’t and told her I wanted to see a gastroenterologist, who was/is amazing!! After blood tests and a biopsy, in 3 months it seeing him not only did I have a diagnosis, we had a plan on how to treat me! Thank you for sharing your story ❤️

Went to the doctors this February after a crazy cold. Routine blood test found raised ALT and presence of smooth muscle antibodies blah blah. This lasted 6 months. I've been given a diagnosis of probable AIH. Had a fibrosis scan and the liver stiffness looks ok (best call I've ever had). 2 weeks ago my ALT has lowered with no medication. I sit in wait fearing every blood test. One more spike in ALT and it's biopsy time. Life changing stuff. Glad to see your doing well with it! Your video really helped ease some nerves! Thanks.

Its great that your Alt has lowered with no medication, thats brilliant news!!! Hearing your liver stiffness is good is the best news isn't it 😀😂 Altho i didn't have a good experience with the biopsy i mean everything went as it should, i just found it very painful! But i have spoken to a few people now and they say they had no pain what so ever with the biopsy so i think it depends on the person! Your aloud to have someone in with u to hold your hand, and i took my iPod and listened to music to take my mind off it! Hope everything goes okay xx

I might have Autoimmune Hepatitis. I thought I might be lactose intolerant and I got bloodwork done, I forgot what it was, but some chemical level was higher than normal in my blood. I already have one autoimmune disease, which is type one diabetes. The doctors thought it might have been caused because I had a high blood sugar that day, so I had to go back for bloodwork and fast before it. When they tested my blood again I also got an ultra sound in which they told me my spleen was long. I was like, “Okay, but what does that mean?” And a few days later they called me and my parents to the hospital and told me I needed MORE blood drawn, and if the results came back positive, a liver biopsy. Honestly, I am really scared that having aih will make my life harder than it already is, and the liver biopsy scares me because one of my phobias is being stabbed in the stomach. This video helped me but honestly I am still terrified. Is it really that bad and I am just overreacting?

Hey, I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis about a year ago. EVERYTHING that you went through, I have had to go through and it has been the worst year of my life. I was diagnosed when I was 21. It took about 2 years to find that I had an autoimmune hepatitis. I started off having unbearably itchy skin and then I was given some cream to soothe that and nothing else was done. The itching went away for about 6 months and then it came back and i went to the doctor again and they sent me off to get some blood tests and then i started to get jaundice and then i went to ED. I spent 2 nights in hospital and they told me I had acute hepatitis and sent me home with some strong antibiotics. the symptoms went away for a little while and then came back so I went to the doctor and asked to be referred to a gastroenterologist which was the best decision!!. I was sent off for blood tests and other tests and then he put me on a very high dose of prednisolone and another medication called ursodeoxycholic which is an anti-inflammatory basically. I had another flare up and I was sent off for an emergency biopsy and then thats when I was put on azathioprine, I was on that for about 2 weeks and had to stop because every time I took it, I would have to run to the toilet because I thought I going to throw up. Im currently still on prednisolone but only on 5mg a day and am currently tapering off them and I'm also still taking ursodeoxycholic. I also became very depressed within this time period and I am still coming out of that dark place. I am so glad I came across this video because I know that I am not alone. I am so glad that I have someone to relate to, I did actually get a bit emotional because it just reminded me of all those terrible times I had to go through but this video is raw and it tells people exactly what happens.

I try to stay positive sometimnes I know its hard becasue you wonder what will happend but put your trust in God. He has the control.

I also have autoimmune hepatitis I was diagnosed this year, I am 22. My only symptoms were severe itching and a few weeks later my skin and eyes were yellow. I was seen by multiple different doctors and no one knew what it was. Finally after three months of only being monitored I was seen by a Hepatologist/Organ Transplant specialist. I was in the hospital for four days were I too had a liver biopsy which confirmed it was Autoimmune. I was put on Prednisone as well and thankfully I have been able to taper off the dose without adding any immunosuppressive drugs. My liver specialist believes this disease was triggered from me taking antibiotics for acne just a few months prior to the symptoms, with the suspicion I am the ONLY documented case of AIH being caused from this specific medication. Living with the disease is very rough but seeing all of your comments really helped me feel less alone.

Hi there, I did my physicals 5 years ago and all the results were normals except for alt and ast. I didn't pay attention to the results. I did my physicals recently and both alt and ast levels are still high, but alt is lower than the last time. I had no symptoms in the last five years, maybe I got sick once due to the change in the weather. My ultrasound report looks normal. The only liver test that came out positive was anti body smooth muscles, which I believe has to do with autoimmune hepatitis. I am yet to see my doctor. I am curious why i didn't have any symptoms in the last 5 years.

I’m not sure if I have any of these things ! My doctor hasn’t called me yet but my test results are super high and suggest AIH or chronic Hep which is making me super emotional cause I’m fairly healthy person so it scares me alot. A few years back o was having problems with my kidney and I was put on prednisone which made me gain a bunch of weight and made me very depressed and I cramped a whole lot especially my feet when I’d try and take a show ! I am really scared and under a lot of stress because my fiancé and I are trying to conceive our first child and we have to go through IVF cause he’s a paraplegic from the waist down now ! I feel like this ads a lot more stress on me ! Anyways the next step is the liver biopsy it’s very emotional for me cause all of these things hitting right before my birthday which is October 13th I will Be turning 28. For many years I always had this nauseating feeling to my stomach that would just happened out of no where & I never understood why my doctor never did test ! She prescribed me chewable tablets for It but said it isn’t long term and maybe o needed to change my diet and lose weight ! But even after I lost weight I still felt nauseous. It comes and goes like in waves ! Or after I eat sometimes I feel nauseous idk other than that I never had any symptoms never felt pain even with my kidney I didn’t even know It was swollen cause I didn’t feel any pain what’s so ever

Entocort is a steroid that goes on the liver instead of the whole body, like prednisolon. I gained very much waight from prednisolon and was glad I could change over to Entocort and not have as much side effects and cramps and water and fat gain. Just wish I knew about it earlier. Ask your doctor about checking it out. My doctor ordered it from Sweden. Just a tip I think can help. I also recovered from A I H after akute liver failure, coma, shiroses and all even when I couldn't get a new liver because of I was an addict back then, and 19 years old dying. Against all ods my 5% liver function got better and better and functioning with normal liver values now and for many years. I stopped using imurelle and steroids and it's fine. Struggle with chronic fatigue.. Sucks, don't know if it is because of something else or what, but am glad to be alive. Take care :-)

So far I haven't been given much support on my diagnosis, I understand the pressure with have in NHS. So this isn't me slating them off and I know they're trying their best. I'm waiting for an appointment with the access clinic within the next 4 weeks. I'm around Worcestershire, UK. But did/does anyone struggle understanding and accepting their diagnosis? Can anyone recommend where I can find support and help If there is someone suffering with an autoimmune disease. Trying to process my diagnosis, I'm finding it very overwhelming. So It be nice to know that their is someone going through the same experience as I am or have experienced this. If anyone can get back to me, or recommend me any advice or information. I take 4 -4 tab of 8mg = 32mg + 32mg of Methylprednisolone only on Saturday and Sunday on 1st month and next month i take 3-3 tab and next month 2-2 tab and then stop taking these medicines. During medication i never eat sugar , milk and citrus fruit . I also take pre and pro biotics for healthy stomach. After diagnosis i take herbal liver tonic 3 months . And now I am fit and fine. I thought which is most helpful for me in diagnoses is my sweeming in very cold water . Which recover me very very fast . I perday sweem 1 hour in sweeming pool in coldest winter.

Anybody who does have this disease I'd greatly appreciate someone can give me some advice I'm still in the process of being diagnosed with a few autoimmune diseases one of them being autoimmune hepatitis the scary thing is I cannot see a rheumatologist because they will not accept my insurance and the few that will it's over a year long way and I just took a turn for the worst my liver shutting down I'm only 24 it already male shut my kidneys down to before but they caught it in time but my doctor said that there isn't much he can do until I see The Specialist and that I'm high risk for my liver shutting down entirely he just said to be very careful and go to the hospital if something's not right which it feels like that really bad because the pain is getting worse and worse my eyes are like turning yellow and I went from just supposedly fatty liver to full services in less than a month and they still can't do nothing about it so if anybody has any advice on if I should go to the hospital or any methods I should take until I can hopefully see a specialist any advice would be greatly appreciated

corina laney this sounds awful and so sad they can’t do anything for you. I’m no expert but I’d go to the hospital or something and make sure they do something about it!! X

@@SophieMariaxx yeah it's not very fun for sure I'm sure you can relate I told my sister cuz it's the only family I have kind of nearby just be on alert cuz I told her that if I get out of my stubbornness and go to the hospital because I've had too many bad experiences there and I'll go but only if I get to the point I have no other option thank you for the advice though that's very kind of you

Hi Grace, so sorry to hear you have it so young! I'm 31 and also recently diagnosed. I would definitely recommend being proactive and cut out dairy and sugar. Go for whole food plant based diet aka vegan. Nutritionfacts.org is a great resource. Dr. Greger is an amazing advocate for it. He also has cook book called his not to diet. Try to stay positive! I know it's difficult. Stay strong young one! Sending hugs from Ireland.

I had AIH in which turned into cirrhosis of the liver. I was diagnosed in my early 20s and I'm in my late 30s now. I was taking prednisone and Azathioprine. Now i only take Azathioprine. Thank god Prednisone sucks all though i had to take it. Still wish it wasn't me. I have minimal to no symptoms now or I'm just used to it at this point but I wish It was a dream.
