My ATV Overland Trailer is Done [Part 4] ... and then I broke it 😬

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I finally finished the off road trailer for my quad! And then immediately broke it on my first trip out. I got about 500 miles into the Arizona Peace Trail before I had a catastrophic failure. Stay tuned for Part 5!

Between the articulating hitch and the suspension work I think that makes it pull so much easier

This was a great build and that trailer turned out awesome. 👌 Utilizing the roof for a table that's an ingenious idea and I can't wait to see how it works out for you on the Arizona peace trail. Part 5 should be interesting. Once again thanks for the video content subscribed and thumbs up.👍

Through bolts are always a good option as one can double nut them, and that helps keep them from coming loose and falling out. I've built several trailers, and this was a plus for me.

Full grain plywood is much stronger than wafer wood, and it handles moisture much better, and, if it's exterior grade, most likely won't warp or twist. Also, if something is dropped on it will resist puncture.

Nice job on that trailer, I just found your page while watching CFmoto1000 video's seen you mention your trailer build watched it and noticed we are neighbors, I too am building an ATV trailer, one I repurposed and recycled from a tent trailer from the 70's to tow behind My street bike, now being repurposed again into an offroad/atv trailer. I'm building swing arm axles for it. I'd love to join you on some trail rides etc.

I found your channel a while back and watched a few and forgot to SUB. it came back in the recommended and now i am subbed. Awesome video. Wife and I plan to build something like this for next summer. it's been a dream of mine to build one for years, just never happened. Good video. keep it up.

Thanks! I highly recommend keeping the trailer as light as possible. I haven't fixed the suspension yet, though I did get the new torsion axles. But one of the things I'm going to do when I work on it again is remove as much weight as possible.

Look into leaf spring shackle angles. You should be able to modify ride height and quality. With the welding practice complete, moving the shackle brackets may help.

Excuse me, any time you use a drill, it is required you give it a test pull or two of the trigger. Not sure if you were aware of that protocol.

Did you remove your lift kit or just change out the tires back to the CST's. The unfortunate reality is although cheaper the plywood is heavy. Aluminum sheet for the floor and possibly the top lid. You would have to do some fancy brace work for the lid though. Overall It came out great. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Always learning something new.

I still have the lift kit. The tires are 29 inch Maxxis bighorn 2.0s. Honestly, with the overall weight of the trailer, I doubt the plywood lid made made much of a difference.

@@BroBuildsGarage I meant with the bottom deck, the walls and the lid. I have the Overland as well and have contemplated the lift for more ground clearance. If you ever get over to Idaho falls to ride let me know and we can do a meet up!
